Pipestem Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in West Virginia, Pipestem Campground, located in Lerona, WV 25971, USA, offers a camping experience within the broader Pipestem Resort State Park. You can contact them at (304) 466-1800 or their mobile number +1 304-466-1800 for inquiries and reservations. Situated within a state park, the campground benefits from the natural beauty and potential recreational opportunities associated with such locations.
The environment surrounding Pipestem Campground is highlighted in one review as being particularly "beautiful," especially during the month of October when the fall foliage displays "so many colors in the leaves." This suggests that for local users seeking "camping near me" with scenic beauty, particularly during the autumn season, Pipestem Campground could be an attractive option. The vibrant colors of the changing leaves can provide a picturesque backdrop for a camping getaway, offering opportunities for nature walks, photography, and simply enjoying the seasonal landscape.
One positive aspect mentioned in the reviews is that the "campground restrooms are nice." Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are often a significant factor for campers when choosing a "camping near me," as they contribute to the overall comfort and convenience of the experience. This positive feedback suggests that Pipestem Campground provides at least this essential amenity to a satisfactory standard.
Another notable feature mentioned is that the campground is dog-friendly ("We have both of our dogs with us this weekend."). For local users who enjoy camping with their pets and are searching for "camping near me" that welcomes canine companions, Pipestem Campground appears to be a viable option. Dog-friendly campgrounds allow pet owners to enjoy the outdoors without leaving their furry friends behind, enhancing the camping experience for many.
However, it's important to consider the negative feedback provided in one of the reviews regarding the amenities and service experienced at Pipestem Campground in relation to the broader Pipestem Resort. The reviewer expressed a misunderstanding that staying at the "resort campground" would grant access to all resort amenities. They found this not to be the case and reported that the front desk staff at the lodge "scoffed" at their inquiry about the indoor pool, stating that there would be an additional fee for all campers. This suggests a potential disconnect between the expectations of campground guests and the policies of the resort regarding amenity access.
The same reviewer also noted that "we needed to drive to everything on the resort" and that "everything was pretty much closed the first week of June." This indicates that while the campground is located within the resort area, access to resort facilities might not be conveniently located for campers, and the availability of these facilities could be limited, particularly during certain times of the year. Local users looking for "camping near me" with easy access to a range of amenities should consider this potential inconvenience and the possibility of seasonal closures.
Furthermore, the reviewer stated that "All employees of the resort were rude simply because we stated in an RV instead of the lodge." This is a significant concern regarding the customer service experienced by campers at Pipestem Campground. Rudeness from resort staff based on the type of accommodation chosen can detract significantly from the overall camping experience and should be a serious consideration for local users when evaluating "camping near me" options.
Despite the negative experiences within the resort, the reviewer did mention that there are a "couple of nice waterfalls within a 1/2 hour drive" of the location. This suggests that the area surrounding Pipestem Campground offers natural attractions that campers can explore, even if the resort amenities themselves are not easily accessible or welcoming. For local users interested in "camping near me" with opportunities for off-site excursions to scenic spots, the proximity to waterfalls could be a redeeming feature.
Regarding services and features specific to the campground itself, beyond the nice restrooms and dog-friendly policy, the provided information is limited. We do not have details about the types of campsites available (e.g., tent sites, RV hookups), the presence of other amenities like fire pits or picnic tables, or any specific recreational facilities within the campground area itself. Local users searching for "camping near me" would need to inquire directly with Pipestem Campground about these details to understand the full range of services and features offered.
Promotional information is not included in the provided reviews. It is unknown whether Pipestem Campground offers any special rates, packages, or discounts for local residents or during specific times of the year. To find out about any potential promotions that might make it a more attractive "camping near me" option, local users should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers.
In conclusion, Pipestem Campground offers a local camping option within a state park known for its natural beauty, particularly the fall foliage, and provides nice restrooms and a dog-friendly environment. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues regarding access to resort amenities, potential seasonal closures, and negative interactions with resort staff. While the surrounding area boasts natural attractions like waterfalls, the experience within the campground and the broader resort might not meet the expectations of all local users searching for "camping near me." It is advisable to contact Pipestem Campground directly to inquire about campsite details, on-site amenities, and any current policies regarding resort access for campers to make an informed decision.

Pipestem Campground Reviews
Was under the impression that since we stayed at the resort campground that the amenities would also be available for campers. Not true. The man at the front desk of the lodge "scoffed" when we asked about the indoor pool for campers. He stated there will be an additional fee for all campers. We needed to drive to everything on the resort and everything was pretty much closed the first week of June. All employees of thr resort were rude simply because we stated in an RV instead of the lodge. Couple of nice waterfalls within a 1/2 hour drive. Will not return to the pipestem resort.
Jun 09, 2024 · Justin BurrellBeautiful state park, especially in October. There are so many colors in the leaves. The campground restrooms are nice. We have both of our dogs with us this weekend.
Oct 21, 2023 · Larry WigalBEAUTIFUL state parkSomething for the whole family (putt-putt, horseback riding, golf, archery . . .)camping for full hookups close togetherwater & electric & no hook ups seem roomiernice clean bathhouse (heated). Site #8 was not quite enough room for our 28ft. setup even though pull through--too close to road.We rode the tram (adult $8) down to Bluestone Scenic River. Absolutely gorgeous river and some leaves left.We hiked the river. We wanted to do the 3 1/2 hour zipping, but weather didn't cooperate.
Oct 24, 2020 · Carolyn LeCroyThis campground would get five stars if they had more full hookup sites. The campground is very well kept and there are plenty of things to do in and around Pipestem. We will be going back next year, hopefully to a full hookup site.
Aug 16, 2020 · Ron LillyWow this place could be amazing. The restrooms showers all needed work and cleaning. The campsites are all very rustic but the RV sites with hookups are not level. All the sites without hookups were level but less shade. Ok so the camping doesn't seem to be the attraction here. It's the wildlife (deer everywhere) and nature, the hiking was great, the tram down to the lodge was great and there are a couple of hikes and fishing at the lodge. We had lunch there and the food was good with cold beers.@AdventureKrewe tip: find out when there are ranger guided hikes or events and go. So informative and fun. There is horseback riding which was very affordable. Plenty to do for the week we were there in Sept.
