This campground offers a blend of well-maintained facilities, access to nature trails, and a generally quiet atmosphere, making it an appealing option for those in the Vassar and surrounding areas. Let's explore what Pomona Outlet Campground has to offer based on feedback from fellow campers.
Location and Environment: Situated near Pomona Dam in Vassar, Kansas, the environment of Pomona Outlet Campground seems to be characterized by its proximity to water (though the lake itself is noted as being "a bit farther away" from the campsites), a spillway, and natural trails. The reviews mention wildlife such as birds, fish, and deer, suggesting a rich natural setting ideal for nature lovers. The campground's location also implies potential access to the recreational opportunities associated with Pomona Lake, even if the campsites aren't directly on the water's edge. The mention of a trail connecting right off the side of the campground highlights the opportunity for hiking and exploring the local landscape. The varying terrain is also hinted at, with one reviewer noting that phone service is limited unless you go "to the top of the hill or some places out on the lake," suggesting some elevation changes within or around the campground.
Services and Amenities: Based on the customer reviews, Pomona Outlet Campground appears to offer well-maintained facilities:
- Well-Maintained Park, Roads, and Facilities: Multiple reviewers praise the upkeep of the campground, indicating a commitment to providing a clean and orderly environment for guests.
- Excellent Playground: For families camping with children, the playground being in excellent condition is a significant plus, offering a dedicated space for kids to play and burn off energy.
- Cleanliness: The overall cleanliness of the campground is noted positively, contributing to a more enjoyable camping experience.
- Camp Host and Security: The presence of a "polite and kind" camp host and a "camp guard dog Abby" suggests a level of on-site management and security, which can be reassuring for campers.
While specific details about individual campsite amenities (like picnic tables or fire rings) aren't explicitly mentioned, they are typically standard features of established campgrounds. The emphasis on the well-maintained nature of the park and its facilities suggests that these basics are likely in good condition. The limited phone service in the main camping area could be seen as a feature for those wanting to disconnect, though it's worth noting for those who rely on their phones.

Pomona Outlet Campground Reviews
Yes the comments are correct, your phone is not going to work unless you go to the top of the hill or some places out on the lake, however it’s a great place to get away from it all!The park, roads and facilities are very well maintained and the playground is in excellent condition. Everything was clean and the experience was amazing even though we had an annoying singing neighbor over the weekend. The campsites are somewhat close together but far enough apart to feel private and secluded. The camp host was polite and kind along with the camp guard dog Abby! Don’t worry, vicious weenie dog attacks are rare! The trail connects right off the side of the campground and is well worth exploring. The water is a bit farther away. There is lots of wildlife including birds, fish and deer along with some mystery visitor that woke us up at 4am.

Oct 28, 2024 · Kandi FergusonOne of our favorite places to go camping! If you want to disconnect from technology then this is the place to escape it since there is very little cell service around the outlet. Most of the camping spots are very shaded and spaced out. They have water and electric hookups and a sewer dump station by the gate. There is also a trail where you can spend 15 minutes (or a couple hours) walking depending on the route you choose. The campground also has a park for the kids and a shower house. Down the road is the dam outlet where there are several spots to fish or have a nice picnic. A quick travel across the dam and you can enjoy the swim beach on the hot days. A short drive away is a gas station/bait shop and a VERY good restaurant called Breck's Green Acres.

Jun 24, 2022 · Ashley DWonderful park with a great view of the lake, the outlet and into the Michigan Valley area. The trails add a nice area for my group to do SAR K9 training
