Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow Introduce
Attention local campers seeking a serene and picturesque "camping near me" experience in Michigan's Upper Peninsula! Look no further than Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow, located at E806 Charles Rd, St Ignace, MI 49781, USA. This hidden gem, as described by delighted visitors, offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region, with the added convenience of being a short drive from the popular attractions of St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. Let's delve into the environment, services, and features that make Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow a compelling choice for your next camping adventure.
Embrace the Peaceful Waterfront Environment:
Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow lives up to its name, offering a tranquil and beautiful campsite environment. Situated on the water, this campground provides the potential for stunning lakefront views and a soothing ambiance. Imagine waking up to the gentle sounds of the water, enjoying the sunrise over the lake, and spending your evenings by a campfire with the peaceful backdrop of the waterfront. Reviews from recent visitors highlight the beauty of the location, with one camper describing it as a "beautiful campsite." The experience of being right on the water offers a unique connection with nature, perfect for relaxation and unwinding. The smaller number of campsites, as noted by a reviewer who mentioned being one of only about four groups, contributes to a very peaceful and quiet atmosphere, ideal for those seeking a respite from crowded campgrounds. This intimate setting allows for a more immersive and serene outdoor experience, making it a true hidden gem for those searching for tranquility in their "camping near me" options.
Primitive Camping with Essential Comforts:
It's important to note, as indicated in the customer reviews, that Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow offers a more primitive camping experience with no hookups available at the campsites. This means you should be prepared for camping without direct access to electricity, water, or sewer at your individual site. However, the campground does provide some essential comforts. One reviewer mentioned the presence of pit toilets, which, remarkably, were described as "probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen!" This attention to cleanliness, even in a primitive setting, speaks volumes about the care taken at the campground. Additionally, a water fountain is available, providing access to water. However, one visitor noted a preference for the taste of water brought in, suggesting that campers might want to consider bringing their own supply if feasible. Despite the lack of hookups, the beauty and peacefulness of the location, coupled with clean basic facilities, make Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow an attractive option for those who enjoy a more rustic camping experience without sacrificing essential hygiene.
Features and Convenient Location:
A significant feature of Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow is its prime location. As mentioned by a satisfied camper, the site is approximately a 20-minute drive to St. Ignace. This proximity offers the perfect balance for those planning a trip to Mackinac Island, providing a more affordable camping option while still being within easy reach of the ferry docks and other attractions in St. Ignace. This makes Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow an excellent basecamp for exploring the popular tourist destinations of the area without the higher costs often associated with accommodations directly in St. Ignace. The waterfront location itself is a major feature, offering opportunities for potential water-based activities (though not explicitly detailed in the reviews, lakefront access often implies possibilities for swimming, kayaking, or simply enjoying the views). The spaciousness of the campsites, with one reviewer mentioning being given a "huge site right on the water," also adds to the appeal, providing ample room to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Why Choose Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow for Your "Camping Near Me" Escape?
If you are searching for "camping near me" in the St. Ignace area and value peace, natural beauty, and a waterfront setting, Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow is a strong contender. The positive reviews from recent campers highlight its tranquil atmosphere, beautiful lakefront campsites, and the friendly nature of the owner. The convenience of being a short drive to St. Ignace makes it an ideal and potentially more budget-friendly option for those planning to visit Mackinac Island and explore the local attractions. While offering a primitive camping experience without hookups, the presence of clean pit toilets and a water fountain ensures basic comfort. The description as a "hidden gem" suggests a less crowded and more intimate camping experience, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle and reconnect with nature in a serene environment.

Reddmann's Sleepy Hollow Reviews
Just stayed here during a few weekdays in August and what a beautiful campsite! We were one of about 4 groups of people camping and it made for a very peaceful experience. The owner was kind enough to give us a huge site right on the water. The site is about an 20 minute drive to St. Ignace, so perfect for our Mackinac Island trip without being too expensive. Although there are only pit toilets, they are probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen! As everyone else has said, definitely a hidden jem and hope to return in the future!
Aug 23, 2024 · Natasha KriegerThis is a hidden gem. They have spots right along the lake, and it was quiet and peaceful. It was primitive - no hookups at all - but there is a water fountain and some toilets. We didn't like the taste of the water, so I'd suggest filling up before you arrive, if you can. The owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.
Aug 17, 2018 · William HarkcomThis place is a gem! It was an accidental find and I wish everyone knew about it. At the end of a dead end, quiet, rustic but clean and inviting. Affordable. Beautiful. Relaxing. The owner is a peach! It's just utterly amazing. I could have stayed a month and woke up to the waves lapping on the shore. What a place!
Aug 23, 2020 · Kasey GuerreroThis place has no full hook ups. No wifi. No sewer or dump station. No water at sites. And only 20 amp service on a few sites, so no microwave and air conditioner. I LOVE IT. It's quite and peaceful. You're on Lake Huron and the water levels are the highest I've seen in the 16 years of coming here. You can hear the loons in the morning and not the boats. The rules are very simple. Use common sense. If you want to be loud, pick a site away from everyone else. Clean up after yourself and your dogs. The only water source is an ice cold artisan well. The outhouses are kept very clean, and for an outhouse, barely smells.
