Riverbend Group Campsite - Crow Hassan Park Reserve Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" that can accommodate groups and offers unique features in the Otsego, MN area? The Riverbend Group Campsite, located within the Crow Hassan Park Reserve at Otsego, MN 55374, presents a camping option for local users. You can contact them at (763) 694-7860 or +1 763-694-7860 for inquiries and reservations. While the name suggests a riverside location, user reviews provide insights into the actual environment and amenities of this campsite.
Crow Hassan Park Reserve is described by one visitor as a place undergoing "healing and renewal," with appreciation expressed for the "native flowers and plants." This suggests that the environment at Riverbend Group Campsite and the surrounding park reserve may offer a landscape focused on ecological restoration and the beauty of native flora. The presence of "many walking trails to explore" indicates opportunities for nature walks and enjoying the outdoors. However, a significant environmental factor mentioned by a camper is the "chronic sound of traffic all night," which detracts from the natural tranquility one might typically expect from a campsite. This noise pollution is also cited as a potential reason for the perceived lack of wildlife, with the reviewer stating that their "suburban townhome home is quieter and has more animals than this campsite," and predicting that only mosquitoes and bats are likely to thrive due to the noise.
Despite the concerns about noise and wildlife, the Riverbend Group Campsite is noted as a "nice facility for horse camping." This is a significant feature that caters to a specific segment of the local camping community – those who wish to camp with their horses. The availability of horse camping facilities often includes specific amenities such as hitching posts, watering areas for horses, and potentially access to equestrian trails within the park reserve. This specialized offering makes Riverbend Group Campsite a unique option for horse owners in the region looking for a place to camp and ride.
The presence of "many walking trails to explore" is another key feature of the Riverbend Group Campsite and the broader Crow Hassan Park Reserve. These trails likely wind through the recovering natural landscapes, offering opportunities for hiking and enjoying the native plant life. While one reviewer mentioned the trails in a positive light, another expressed frustration that "they haven't opened up the gate yet this year," suggesting potential seasonal access limitations to certain areas of the park or the campsite itself. The same reviewer also noted that "they spent the money to put in extra parking last year," implying that parking should be readily available once the gate is open. However, the current situation forces visitors to park "out by the side of the busy road," which is deemed "not safe." This issue with gate access and parking safety is an important consideration for local users planning a visit.
Regarding services and amenities at the Riverbend Group Campsite itself, the provided reviews offer limited details beyond the horse camping facilities and access to walking trails. As a group campsite, it is expected to offer designated camping areas suitable for tents and possibly RVs, although the availability of RV hookups (water, electricity, sewer) is not mentioned. Basic amenities such as restrooms and potable water sources are typically provided at group campgrounds, but this is not explicitly confirmed in the reviews. Fire rings or communal fire pits and picnic tables at campsites are also common features of group camping areas. Given the focus on horse camping, there might be additional amenities related to equestrian activities, such as horse trailer parking or riding arenas, although these are not detailed.
There is no specific promotional information available for the Riverbend Group Campsite based on the provided text. Local users interested in group rates, seasonal discounts, or any special offers should contact the provided phone numbers directly. It would also be prudent to inquire about the status of the park gate and parking situation, as well as any plans to mitigate the traffic noise that campers have experienced. For horse owners, it would be beneficial to ask about the specific amenities and trails available for equestrian use.
In summary, the Riverbend Group Campsite at Crow Hassan Park Reserve in Otsego, MN, offers a unique opportunity for horse camping and access to walking trails within a landscape undergoing ecological renewal. However, potential visitors should be aware of significant drawbacks reported by users, including chronic traffic noise throughout the night and a perceived lack of wildlife, which may detract from the traditional camping experience. Additionally, there are concerns about seasonal gate closures and the safety of parking outside the park when the gate is not open. While the native flowers and plants are appreciated, and the horse camping facilities are a notable feature, local users should weigh these positives against the reported negatives when considering a visit. It is highly recommended to contact the park directly for the most current information on accessibility, amenities, and any efforts to address the noise and parking issues.

Riverbend Group Campsite - Crow Hassan Park Reserve Reviews
Interesting space. Chronic sound of traffic all night when you camp. Lacks wildlife. My suburban townhome home is quieter and has more animals than this campsite. I love all the native flowers and plants and how the place is in the process of healing and renewal. I wouldn't expect many animals to return beside mosquitos and bats due to the noise pollution, though. Nice facility for horse camping. Many walking trails to explore. I'd recommend it most for a daytrip or horse camping.
Feb 11, 2025 · Cammie HardouinI love hiking here. It's a bummer they haven't opened up the gate yet this year. Especially after they spent the money to put in extra parking last year. It's not safe having to park out by the side of the busy road.
Jun 13, 2022 · John GuertinBeen horse camping here for nearly 20yrs...such a lovely peaceful place with great trails and even has a barn for the horses❤🐴
Oct 02, 2022 · Andrea BelanusI like this area for hiking. I get lost at the end every time though so give yourself plenary if daylight. I didn’t the last time and it was awful.
Oct 23, 2021 · SaraSome of the beautiful native prairies you'll see anywhere in the state. Kudos to Three Rivers!
