Riverfront Park / Goose Landing Introduce
When your search for "camping near me" in the Warsaw, Illinois area leads you to the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, Riverfront Park / Goose Landing offers an inexpensive and scenic camping spot. Located at 1000 Water St, Warsaw, IL 62379, USA, and reachable by phone at (217) 256-3214 or mobile at +1 217-256-3214, this small park provides a unique camping experience right on the waterfront. Based on customer reviews, it’s a place where you can enjoy the beauty of the river, with basic amenities and a relaxed atmosphere. If you’re looking for "camping near me" that combines affordability with river access and a touch of local charm, Riverfront Park / Goose Landing is worth considering.
The environment of Riverfront Park / Goose Landing is its prime attraction, situated directly on the Mississippi River. Campers can enjoy waterfront views and easy access to the river for various activities. The park is described as a "perfect little camping spot facing the water," emphasizing the scenic beauty of its location. While it's a small park, the open aspect towards the river provides a sense of spaciousness and connection to the natural surroundings. The presence of geese wandering around adds a touch of local character, hence the name "Goose Landing." While occasional boat traffic and distant trains might be audible, reviewers note that the noise level is generally manageable, often described as more of a "white noise" that doesn't significantly disrupt the peaceful atmosphere. For those seeking "camping near me" with direct river access and scenic views, Riverfront Park / Goose Landing offers a compelling natural environment.
The services at Riverfront Park / Goose Landing are basic but functional, contributing to its inexpensive nature. For RV campers searching for "camping near me," the park offers approximately ten camper spots with both water and electric hookups. However, it's important to note that water might be shared, requiring a splitter and an extra length of hose for connection. Similarly, accessing the power box might necessitate two cords. A significant limitation is the absence of a dump station and a shower house within the park itself. The nearest dump station is located up the hill in town behind the water company. For tent campers looking for "camping near me," there is a designated area available. The park operates on an "honor system" for payment, where campers place their spot number and the fee ($10 for tents, around $15 for RVs with hookups, based on reviews) in an envelope and drop it in a lockbox. Reservations for longer stays might be available online. While the services are basic, they cover essential needs for a short stay, especially given the affordable pricing.
Riverfront Park / Goose Landing offers several features that enhance the camping experience, particularly for those interested in river-related activities. The direct river access and a boat launch located across the parking lot make it convenient for boating and fishing enthusiasts searching for "camping near me." While one reviewer mentioned their children only catching a large gar, the general sentiment suggests that fishing can be good. There is a picnic table shelter available, which could be useful for larger groups or events. For families with young children, there is a merry-go-round, although it’s noted as being the only play equipment and a "fast spinning" one at that. The park's location is also close to the Keokuk geode area, making it a potential base for those interested in geode hunting and rockhounding. Access to the campground from the north involves a steep hill, but a longer route from the south avoids these hills, which is useful information for RVs or vehicles towing trailers. The occurrence of local events, such as the "Freedom Fest" mentioned in a review (which included a free concert and fireworks), suggests that the park can be a vibrant spot during local celebrations. However, the issue of litter, both from festival attendees and boaters, is a concern raised by a visitor, indicating a need for greater environmental awareness among some users.
Promotional information for Riverfront Park / Goose Landing is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. However, its consistently described inexpensive rates ($10 for tents, around $15 for RVs with water and electric) can be considered a significant draw for budget-conscious travelers seeking "camping near me." The honor system for payment and the possibility of online reservations for longer stays suggest a straightforward and potentially flexible pricing structure. To inquire about any specific discounts for extended stays, groups, or seasonal offers, it would be best to contact the park directly at (217) 256-3214 or +1 217-256-3214. Given its local park status, any promotions might be advertised locally or through the Warsaw city or county's tourism resources.
Choosing Riverfront Park / Goose Landing for your "camping near me" experience in Warsaw, IL offers an affordable and scenic getaway right on the Mississippi River. The basic amenities cater to short stays, and the direct river access is a major highlight for boaters and anglers. While the lack of a dump station and shower house might be a consideration for some RVers, the low cost and the beautiful waterfront location are significant advantages. The park's proximity to local attractions like the Keokuk geode area adds further appeal. The quiet atmosphere, despite occasional river and train noise, provides a relaxing backdrop for your camping trip. As noted by a reviewer, with some community effort to address the litter issue and potentially add more amenities, this could indeed become a "5 star gem." For now, it remains a perfect little spot for those seeking an inexpensive and river-centric "camping near me" experience.

Riverfront Park / Goose Landing Reviews
Nice, inexpensive camping spot right on the Mississippi River. We had a blast enjoying Freedom Fest. Had no idea it was schedules and just showed up. We were treated with a free concert and an excellent fireworks show. Shared water, you might need a splitter and an extra length of hose to reach it. Also used two cords to get to the power box. Good price, but no dump station or shower house. The merry go round was the only play equipment, but it was the fastest spinning merry go round we have used. Tons of geese wandering around. Seemed like good fishing, but kids only got a large gar when they threw a line in. Boat access. One steep hill to get to the camp from the north side. If you go the long way in from the south then you can avoid the hills. The dump station is up the hill in town behind the water company. Only sad part was the garbage. There was a lot, both from the festival and from the boaters. I watched locals throw their cigarette butts down without a thought😢. If this was my local park I would work to educate people to not litter. We picked up a bag of trash, but there was just too much! This could be a 5 star gem right on the big ol Mississippi and some of the locals are working to get improvements made. It takes Civic pride amongst the community to keep a park nice though.
Jul 16, 2022 · Chris BloomfieldPerfect little camping spot facing the water. It is a small park, with maybe 10 camper spots (with water and electric) and an area for tent camping. You can hear the occasional boat or train, but it is nothing like what others have described! I am a pretty light sleeper and the "noise" was more just white noise. A camper with a generator next to me would have been louder (and I was in a tent).River access and boat launch across the parking lot and easy fishing access if you want to fish. There is also a picnic table shelter for bigger events or group meals. There are geese that hang around (hence the name Goose Landing), but they never bothered us in the least! It is an "honor system" type of thing, where if you stay, you just put your spot number and the fee in an envelope and drop it in the lockbox. I believe you can reserve spots online for longer stays, but we were were just passing through and needed a place to stop for the night. It was $10 for tent camping and (I think) $15 for campers/RVs with water and electric.Close to the Keokuk geode area for geode hunting/rockhounding.
