Mississippi Park RV Campgrounds Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience that puts you right on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River? Mississippi Park RV Campgrounds, located at 700 N Front St, Canton, MO 63435, USA, offers a unique opportunity for local RV enthusiasts to camp in close proximity to the river and a lock and dam. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground boasts beautiful views, convenient RV amenities, and excellent fishing opportunities, making it a potentially ideal spot for a riverside getaway. However, it's important for local users to note the absence of certain facilities when planning their stay.
The environment of Mississippi Park RV Campgrounds is undeniably its prime location directly adjacent to the Mississippi River. One reviewer notes it's "about the closest you can get to the Mississippi River and a lock and dam," highlighting the immediate access to these significant features. The campground offers a "beautiful view of the Mississippi River and Dam," with one camper specifically praising the "top-notch" sunrises over the water. This suggests a scenic and picturesque setting where local users can enjoy the natural beauty of the river and the engineering marvel of the lock and dam. The campground itself is described as "wide open" with "flat concrete pads," indicating an easily navigable space for RVs. While the sites are noted as "somewhat close together," the focus seems to be on the accessibility and the stunning riverside location rather than deep seclusion. For local RVers who appreciate waterfront views and the activity of river traffic and dam operations, this environment is likely to be a major draw.
The services and features at Mississippi Park RV Campgrounds cater specifically to RV campers. Each of the "22 campsites" is equipped with "concrete pads," providing a stable and level surface for parking RVs. Essential hookups are available at each site, including "water" and a "bumping station" (likely referring to a sanitary dump station for RV waste). The presence of a "dumpster" indicates waste disposal facilities are provided. However, a crucial point for local users to note is that the campground "has no bathroom facilities or showers." This means that campers must be self-contained within their RVs for these essential needs. While this might be standard for many RV travelers, it's a critical piece of information for those accustomed to having communal restroom and shower facilities available. Despite this limitation, the provision of concrete pads and essential hookups makes it a convenient base for exploring the area and enjoying the river. The campground is also highlighted as a "good spot for fishing," suggesting that local anglers with RVs will find this location particularly appealing due to its direct river access.
The key features of Mississippi Park RV Campgrounds are its unparalleled proximity to the Mississippi River and a lock and dam, the availability of flat concrete pads with water and a dump station for RVs, and the excellent fishing opportunities. The beautiful views, especially the sunrises over the river and dam, offer a unique and visually appealing backdrop for a camping experience. The wide-open layout and concrete pads provide ease of access and setup for RVs. The absence of bathroom and shower facilities is a significant feature that distinguishes this campground and requires campers to be fully self-sufficient. The location near a lock and dam can be particularly interesting for those fascinated by river navigation and engineering. The positive mention of fishing suggests that the riverfront location is ideal for anglers looking to fish directly from or near their campsite. For local RV owners who prioritize riverside access, essential hookups, and fishing, and who are comfortable with being self-contained for restroom needs, Mississippi Park RV Campgrounds offers a compelling option.

About the closest you can get to the Mississippi River and a lock and dam.Wide open campground, flat concrete pads, somewhat close together.
Mar 31, 2025 · Chris HortonBeautiful view of the Mississippi River and Dam. The sunrises are top-notch 👌. It has 22 campsites with concrete pads, water, a bumping station, and a dumpster. It has no bathroom facilities or showers. Good spot for fishing. Just be nice to the locals 😉
Jul 11, 2023 · Melinda HeathNice place for an overnight stay. But if your dog is afraid of loud noises, the train will be a problem. It is VERY loud.
Sep 30, 2024 · Dottie JonesNice campground right on the river. 22 sites with concrete pads, water , picnic tables, fire rings and electric, some with sewer. There is a dump station and trash dumpster. You can make reservations though the police state clerk during business hours. The Mississippi is about 50 yards from the sites so you will be river traffic and it navigates the locks. There is also a train track about 50 yards behind each site, with 5 - 6 trains each day. There are no shower or toilet facilities so you will need to be self contained. When written its $20 per night. Overall a nice stay for several days.
Aug 07, 2021 · SteveThis is a city park with a campground. The location is awesome, we sat outside had dinner and got to watch the barges go through the locks of the dam. There is a nice walking path along the top of levee just south of the park. We had a site with water, electric and sewer and most importantly, SHADE, it was a bit hot and humid in the sun 🌞
