Rothenburg Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Springfield, Minnesota area, Rothenburg Campground, located at Springfield, MN 56087, offers a camping option with a mix of reported experiences. Situated in a convenient location, the campground can be reached at (507) 723-3517 or their mobile number, +1 507-723-3517, for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, potential visitors should be aware of both the positive aspects and potential drawbacks of staying at Rothenburg Campground to make an informed decision for their outdoor getaway.
The environment of Rothenburg Campground appears to offer some appealing features for families and outdoor enthusiasts. One reviewer mentioned "lots to do as a family," specifically highlighting the presence of a pool, bike trails, and a playground. These amenities suggest that the campground is geared towards providing recreational activities for guests of all ages, making it a potentially attractive destination for a weekend getaway or a longer family vacation. The same reviewer described their weekend as "awesome" and indicated they would visit the campground again, suggesting a positive overall experience. Another positive aspect mentioned was that the "sights were well spaced out," which typically enhances privacy and comfort for campers, allowing for a more relaxed and less crowded feel.
However, another review paints a less favorable picture of the environment, citing a significant "bug problem" involving sewer and fruit flies. This issue was severe enough for the campers to leave four days earlier than their booked seven-night stay. They reported contacting the county about the problem, who stated they had not received previous reports. This discrepancy suggests that the bug issue might be intermittent or localized, but it is a serious concern that potential visitors should be aware of. The same reviewer also described the river near the campground as "more like a water runoff," which might be disappointing for those expecting a more substantial water feature for recreation or scenic enjoyment. Additionally, they noted the presence of trash in "almost every fire ring" and instances of people using sites without paying and leaving their trash, indicating potential issues with site maintenance and management.
In terms of services and features, Rothenburg Campground offers a bathhouse and toilets, which were noted to be clean by one reviewer, even amidst other negative experiences. Cleanliness of restroom facilities is a crucial aspect of any campground, and this positive feedback is a point in its favor. The presence of a pool, bike trails, and a playground are significant features that cater to families and those seeking active recreation. One reviewer also mentioned a "cute market that sold meat, veggies and spices on Tuesday 3-6pm," which could be a unique and convenient amenity for campers looking to purchase local goods. However, the negative review raises concerns about the overall maintenance of the campground, specifically regarding trash disposal and potential issues with sewer systems contributing to bug problems.
The positive review highlighted the availability of a pool, bike trails, and a playground, suggesting that Rothenburg Campground aims to provide a family-friendly environment with ample opportunities for recreation. The well-spaced-out sites also contribute to a more comfortable and private camping experience. On the other hand, the negative review detailed a severe bug infestation, issues with trash on campsites, and a less-than-desirable river. The discrepancy between these two reviews indicates a potentially inconsistent experience at the campground, possibly influenced by the time of year, specific campsite location, or recent maintenance efforts.
Promotional information for Rothenburg Campground is not explicitly provided in the reviews. To gather information on any current promotions, seasonal rates, or special offers, local users would need to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. It would also be beneficial to inquire about their policies regarding refunds or addressing issues encountered during a stay, as the negative review mentioned difficulty in obtaining a partial refund after leaving early due to the bug problem.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Springfield, MN, Rothenburg Campground presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. The presence of family-friendly amenities like a pool, bike trails, and a playground, along with clean bathhouse facilities and well-spaced sites, are definite positives. However, the serious concerns raised about bug infestations, trash accumulation on sites, and the quality of the nearby river cannot be ignored. The inconsistent experiences reported suggest that potential visitors should exercise caution and seek more up-to-date information before making a reservation.
To make a well-informed decision, local campers should consider contacting Rothenburg Campground directly to inquire about the current conditions, particularly regarding bug control and site maintenance. Asking about their policies for addressing such issues and their procedures for refunds or accommodations in case of problems would also be prudent. Additionally, seeking more recent reviews from other campers on various online platforms might provide a broader perspective on the current state of the campground. While the family-oriented amenities are appealing, the potential for negative experiences related to bugs and cleanliness warrants careful consideration before choosing Rothenburg Campground for a local camping trip.

Rothenburg Campground Reviews
Stayed here while en-route to SD. Had 7 nights booked and ended up leaving 4 days early because of a bug problem we got at the campground. Sewer and Fruit Flies! We called the county after leaving and lady said they’ve never had a problem reported but they were bad. We tried to get even a partial refund but nope. Wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend. The river is more like a water runoff. Trash was in almost every fire ring. People just come in and use the sites without paying and leave their trash. Gave it two stars because at least the bathhouse and toilets were clean. Cute market that sold meat, veggies and spices on Tuesday 3-6pm
Aug 05, 2023 · Skip B.Campground was clean and sights were well spaced out!! Lots to do as a family the pool, bike trails, playground. We had an awesome weekend will be visiting this campground again. Perfect for a weekend get away. Only negative was the people who pulled in next to us had a lot of people and barking dogs but other than that it was great!!
Aug 16, 2021 · Selina BarnesIt was a great weekend. Little windy. The campground was nice. Big spots. Fire pits nice and big, kind of in goofy spots. Within walking distance to town shopping. We will be back.
Oct 20, 2024 · Katrina KeglerCity park. Bathrooms are mediocre. Many sites shaded, decent grass. Neighbors are close. Run your fans at night as the train is 500 feet away. Main Street and grocery store are within walking distance. City pool, park, and ball field across the street can be convenient or noisy if a tournament is going on.
Jul 08, 2022 · Kent Gehrkeawesome place to camp with a family. Plenty of room and full hookups are super nice. Restrooms are clean. The playground in the campsite is the best if you have small kids.
