Kuhar Park Introduce
For local residents in Minnesota seeking a straightforward and versatile camping experience within the "camping near me" category, Kuhar Park, located in Lamberton, MN 56152, USA, offers a range of camping options and recreational facilities. With contact numbers (507) 752-7601 and +1 507-752-7601, getting in touch for inquiries is convenient. Based on recent customer reviews, this introduction aims to provide a detailed and objective overview of the environment, services, and features of Kuhar Park, highlighting its unique aspects and practical considerations for potential visitors.
The environment of Kuhar Park is described as a "nice cozy area secluded from the road," suggesting a degree of peace and quiet away from traffic noise. However, it's important to note that the campground is located in an agricultural area, and during "manure season," there may be associated smells, although one reviewer indicated it was "not too strong." For those seeking a more rustic experience, the "primitive sites are cozy with lots of wildlife," offering opportunities for nature observation. The sounds of "big packs of coyotes" and "quiet trains off in the distance" contribute to the natural soundscape. While stargazing is reportedly good, the presence of "super bright light posts" within the park might affect the overall darkness of the night sky, a factor to consider for astronomy enthusiasts. The campground also offers proximity to a river, with "river boat access" mentioned as one of its features, suggesting potential for water-based activities. The presence of "beautiful Cottonwood trees throughout park" adds to the scenic appeal, providing shade and enhancing the natural beauty of the area.
Kuhar Park offers a range of services and features to accommodate different camping preferences. For RV and more conventional campers, there are "ten concrete pad camp sites with water/electric" hookups. These sites provide a stable base and essential utilities for a comfortable stay. The water hookups are described as being of "good quality," and the electric service "works great." In terms of facilities, there is a "restroom/shower building" available. One reviewer noted that the men's shower had a "very smelly" water with a "strong metal" scent, which is an important consideration for potential users of that facility. The lights in the shower are also on a "10 minute timer." However, there is also a "giant wheelchair accessible single shower/bathroom," indicating an effort towards accessibility. For waste disposal, a "dump" is located near the bathrooms. For those seeking a more basic experience, the "primitive sites" offer a more natural setting without hookups. The park also features "picnic shelters," providing covered areas for meals and gatherings, and a "frisbee golf course," offering a recreational activity for all ages. A particularly unique feature is a "unique culvert play structure" that younger children reportedly enjoyed, making the park potentially appealing for families with young kids. The park operates on a "first-come first serve" basis for camping spots.
The key features of Kuhar Park include its variety of camping options, from primitive sites with wildlife to concrete pads with water and electric hookups. The unique culvert play structure is a notable amenity for children. The presence of picnic shelters and a frisbee golf course offers additional recreational opportunities. The river boat access expands the potential for activities beyond the campground itself. The park's relative seclusion from the road contributes to a quieter camping experience. However, potential drawbacks include the possibility of wind, the seasonal smell from nearby agriculture, and the reported issues with the men's shower water and the timer on the shower lights. The bright light posts might also be a concern for stargazers. Despite these considerations, the availability of water and electric hookups, the accessible shower/bathroom, and the overall positive experiences of some visitors suggest a functional and enjoyable campground for many.
Based on the provided reviews, the camping fees for Kuhar Park in 2021 were $20 per night, $120 per week, or $325 per month. It's important to note that this information is from 2021, and local users should contact the park directly using the provided phone numbers to confirm the current rates and any potential changes. Inquiring about any additional fees, such as for day use or specific amenities, would also be advisable. As the campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, there might not be specific promotional offers or discounts for advance bookings. However, it would still be prudent to ask about any potential seasonal discounts or special rates for local residents when contacting the park.
In conclusion, for local residents seeking a simple and multifaceted camping experience within the "camping near me" category, Kuhar Park near Lamberton, MN, offers a range of options from primitive sites to RV-friendly concrete pads with hookups. The park's environment provides a relatively secluded setting with wildlife and river access, although it's worth being aware of potential wind and seasonal agricultural smells. Unique features like the culvert play structure and frisbee golf course add to its appeal, particularly for families. While there are some reported issues with the men's shower, the availability of an accessible shower/bathroom and the generally positive experiences suggest a functional campground. The 2021 camping fees provide a baseline for cost, but current rates should be confirmed directly with the park. Kuhar Park presents a straightforward and potentially enjoyable option for local campers looking for a diverse outdoor experience with unique amenities.

Kuhar Park Reviews
Nice cozy area secluded from the road. It gets really windy and manure season passes by it but not too strong of smell. The primitive sites are cozy with lots of wildlife and you can hear big packs of coyotes from the quiet trains off in the distance. Star gazing is good but the light posts are super bright so keep that in mind. They have a dump near the bathrooms with a giant wheelchair accessible single shower/bathrooms however the water in the mens shower is very smelly and has strong metal, the lights are on a 10 minute timer aswell. Water hook ups are good quality and electric works great. Overall nice stay for our 2 weeks.
Oct 13, 2024 · Shane MichaelsA simple park and campground with a unique culvert play structure that our younger kids enjoyed. Picnic shelters, frisbee golf course, river boat access. When we stopped in early June around sunset, there were lots of no-see-ums and some flies, so bring bug spray. Ten concrete pad camp sites with water/electric and a restroom/shower building. In 2021, camping fees are $20/night, $120/week, or $325/month; first-come first serve.
