Sunrise Campground Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience in the Currie, Minnesota area? Sunrise Campground, located at 163 State Park Rd, Currie, MN 56123, USA, offers a unique camping environment with some notable features for local users seeking an outdoor adventure. Whether you're planning a family trip or a solo getaway, Sunrise Campground provides a setting with both advantages and aspects to consider for your stay.
One of the primary benefits of choosing Sunrise Campground is the spaciousness of its campsites. According to visitor feedback, the sites are well spread out, offering a sense of openness and room to relax and move around your camping area. This can be particularly appealing for families or groups who appreciate having ample space between campsites. Complementing this spaciousness are the giant sheltered picnic buildings available at each campsite. These structures provide a significant advantage, offering protection from the sun and potential rain, ensuring you have a comfortable area for dining, socializing, and storing your gear regardless of the weather. The abundance of sunlight at the campsites is also noted as a positive aspect, which can be ideal for those who enjoy sunny outdoor activities.
For families embarking on their first camping trip or seasoned outdoor enthusiasts, Sunrise Campground presents a beautiful location to connect with nature. The overall ambiance is described as pleasant, contributing to a positive camping experience. Notably, Sunrise Campground is also a dog-friendly facility, allowing you to bring your canine companions along for your outdoor adventure. This is a significant draw for pet owners who consider their dogs part of the family and enjoy including them in their travel plans. However, it's important to be aware of and adhere to campground rules, such as respecting the boundaries of other campsites to ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors and their pets.
While Sunrise Campground offers several appealing features, there are also some considerations to keep in mind. One of the main drawbacks mentioned by multiple visitors is the limited tree coverage. The campground is described as newer, and as a result, it lacks the mature trees that provide shade and a sense of seclusion in more established campgrounds. This lack of tree coverage means that campsites may feel less private and can get quite sunny during the day. If you prefer a shady and secluded camping experience, this might be a factor to consider when planning your trip to Sunrise Campground.
Another significant point of feedback is the current restroom facilities. Sunrise Campground currently only offers pit toilets and does not have a dedicated restroom and shower building. This is a notable difference compared to campgrounds with more developed amenities. For some campers, especially those accustomed to flush toilets and showers, this might be a significant inconvenience. However, for those comfortable with more rustic facilities, this may not be a major deterrent. The need for its own restroom/shower building has been specifically highlighted by visitors, suggesting that this is an area where the campground could potentially improve its offerings in the future.
One visitor also mentioned a "kinda weird" swim area. While details about this are not extensive, it suggests that the swimming facilities might not be the primary highlight of the campground. If swimming is a key activity you're looking for in a camping trip, it might be worth inquiring further about the specifics of the swim area at Sunrise Campground to ensure it meets your expectations.
In terms of services and features, the reviews primarily focus on the campsite layout, the sheltered picnic buildings, and the pet-friendly policy. Information regarding other potential amenities such as fire pits, picnic tables (in addition to the sheltered structures), or specific recreational activities is not provided in the available feedback. Local users considering Sunrise Campground for their "camping near me" needs should be prepared for a more basic camping experience that emphasizes spacious sites and shelter, with fewer developed amenities compared to some other campgrounds.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Sunrise Campground in the provided text. For local users interested in booking a site or learning more about potential fees, availability, or any current specials, it is recommended to contact the campground directly at (507) 763-3256 or +1 507-763-3256. Direct communication will allow you to get the most accurate and up-to-date information for planning your camping trip to Sunrise Campground.
In conclusion, Sunrise Campground in Currie, MN, offers a unique camping experience characterized by its spacious campsites, giant sheltered picnic buildings, and a dog-friendly policy. It's a beautiful place that can be particularly appealing for families and those who appreciate open, sunny camping environments. However, potential visitors should be aware of the limited tree coverage and the current lack of a dedicated restroom and shower building, with only pit toilets available. If these aspects are not a concern, Sunrise Campground can be a convenient and enjoyable "camping near me" option for local users looking to explore the outdoors in the Currie area.

Sunrise Campground Reviews
The pros are the sites are spread out and the campsites have giant sheltered picnic buildings and plenty of sun. The cons are very few trees and not secluded at all. It's a newer campground and it needs its own restroom/shower building. Only has pit toilets.
Jun 18, 2024 · Wyatt W. PenkeIt's a beautiful place. It's our first camping trip as a family. I would say the only downfall of this campground is there isn't much tree coverage. The other sites have plenty of coverage. The swim area is kinda weird but all in all we had a fun time here. And it's dog friendly! But just remember one of the rules is not to cross other people's campsites. We had an incident where someone walked their dog across our site and our dog wiggled out of his collar and went running after the dog. Also kids tend to cross which isn't safe especially if your dog tends to nip at stuff or people theyre unsure of.
Jun 30, 2019 · Tricia Jones (Tricia)Nice open campground with a beautiful view of the plains and sunrise. Nice close trails, plenty of space around campsite #53 for playing yard games. Easy bike ride to the showers and swim area. Great history- see the Kock cabin & Monument to hear the story of the start of the Dakota Massacre. We also biked out the Curry dam and fished.
Aug 04, 2019 · T AsherLove this place! We come every June and September for a week at a time and the place is spotless clean, the staff is the friendliest group of people you could ever meet and park is beautiful!
Jun 11, 2021 · DaFaJa HansonNeeds more trees! And more private sites. We go camping to be with our family, not everyone else's.
