Tiell Park Campground Introduce
For local users in Minnesota seeking "camping near me," Tiell Park Campground, located at 301 Tiell Dr, St James, MN 56081, USA, offers a location with some appealing features, particularly for RV travelers. However, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of a significant safety concern raised in a recent customer review regarding the behavior of a city worker associated with the park.
One reviewer initially described Tiell Park Campground as "Awesome... until it's not." This suggests that the physical environment of the campground itself may be pleasant. The second review supports this by stating, "Campground itself is lovely..." indicating that the natural setting and general ambiance of the campground might be quite attractive to visitors.
In terms of amenities, the second reviewer mentioned "Full hookups," which is a significant advantage for RV campers, providing connections for electricity, water, and sewer at the campsite. This allows for a more comfortable and convenient stay for those traveling with recreational vehicles. The availability of full hookups often makes a campground a preferred choice for RVers seeking all essential utilities.
The same reviewer also noted the presence of "Pull through" sites that "worked great" for their 43-foot RV. Pull-through sites are highly desirable for larger RVs as they eliminate the need for backing up, making parking and departure much easier and safer. This feature suggests that Tiell Park Campground is well-equipped to accommodate larger recreational vehicles.
Another convenience highlighted is the campground's proximity to urban amenities, as the reviewer mentioned being "Close to town and restaurants." This location offers the benefit of easy access to local services, dining options, and potentially other attractions within St. James, making it convenient for campers who appreciate having town amenities nearby.
The second reviewer also noted "Some traffic noise but that was to be expected because it’s by a 30 mph road and it was harvest season." This indicates that while the campground is conveniently located, its proximity to a road may result in some noise, particularly during busy times like harvest season. However, the reviewer seemed to find this level of noise acceptable given the location.
The reviewer also expressed a willingness to pay more for the possibility of reservations, stating, "Would be willing to pay more for a reservation possibility." This suggests that reservations might not currently be available, and the ability to reserve a site in advance would be a valued feature for campers planning their trips.
Despite these seemingly positive aspects, the first review raises a very serious and alarming concern about the behavior of a city worker associated with the campground. The reviewer recounts an intrusive and unsettling experience, stating that a "City worker will intrude on you while in the shower and yell at you, then stand and stalk you for awhile trying to peer in your windows from a distance until he realizes you catch him." This is a severe accusation that suggests a potential safety risk and a gross violation of privacy for campers, particularly women.
The reviewer further claims that reporting this individual might lead to retaliation from the city. They also mention that this worker made "women feel super violated" and exhibited "arrogant/hateful" behavior towards minor daughters. These are extremely serious allegations that should not be ignored by potential visitors. While the campground itself might be lovely, the reported behavior of a city worker poses a significant safety and well-being concern for campers, especially women and families with daughters.
Given the gravity of these allegations, local users considering Tiell Park Campground for their "camping near me" experience must weigh the potential benefits (full hookups, pull-through sites, proximity to town) against the serious safety concerns raised. It is essential to approach this campground with caution and be aware of the reported issues.
Based on the limited and conflicting information, Tiell Park Campground offers the following environment, services, and features:
- A potentially lovely physical environment.
- Full hookups available at campsites, catering to RVs.
- Pull-through sites suitable for large RVs.
- Close proximity to the town of St. James and its restaurants.
- Some expected traffic noise due to its location near a 30 mph road.
- Potentially no option for reservations.
However, a critical concern is the reported behavior of a city worker, including intrusion on privacy in the shower, stalking, and alleged hateful behavior towards women and minor daughters, with fears of retaliation for reporting such incidents.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special rates at Tiell Park Campground. Local users interested in potential discounts or for more detailed information about the campground's policies regarding safety and the reported incidents are strongly advised to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers: (507) 375-3241 or +1 507-375-3241. When contacting the campground, it would be prudent to inquire about the management's awareness of the reported issues and what measures are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers.
In conclusion, while Tiell Park Campground in St. James, Minnesota, appears to offer some desirable amenities and a pleasant physical setting for a "camping near me" experience, the serious allegations raised in a customer review regarding the behavior of a city worker cannot be overlooked. Local users, especially women and families with daughters, should be aware of these reported safety concerns and exercise caution. It is strongly recommended to seek further information from the campground management regarding these issues before making a decision to stay at Tiell Park Campground.

Awesome campground... until it's not. City worker will intrude on you while in the shower and yell at you, then stand and stalk you for awhile trying to peer in your windows from a distance until he realizes you catch him. Do you know what will happen when you report him? They'll retaliate back! Campground itself is lovely, city workers , not so much . They make women feel super violated .. be careful of this guy ladies... oh he'll also be arrogant/hateful at your minor daughters too 💁🏼♀️
Jul 11, 2024 · Jess LynnNothing to complain about. Full hookups. Some traffic noise but that was to be expected because it’s by a 30 mph road and it was harvest season. We’re 43’ and got a pull through that worked great. Close to town and restaurants. Would be willing to pay more for a reservation possibility.
