Sanilac County Forester Campground, located at 2820 N Lakeshore Rd, Carsonville, MI 48419, USA, offers a picturesque retreat along the shores of a beautiful lake. You can contact them at (810) 622-8715 or +1 810-622-8715 for inquiries and reservations. Customer reviews highlight the park's nice environment, friendly staff, and appealing features such as a lake and play area. However, it's important to note some feedback regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom/shower facilities and isolated incidents of sewage odors.
The environment at Sanilac County Forester Campground is frequently described as "very nice" and "beautiful," with the lake being a central attraction. The lakefront location offers opportunities for various water-related activities, although specific details about these activities (swimming, fishing, boating) are not elaborated upon in the provided reviews. The presence of a "wonderful" beach suggests that swimming and enjoying the lakeside are popular pastimes for campers. However, one reviewer recommends bringing water shoes due to the beach being "a bit rocky," which is valuable information for those planning to spend time by the water. The inclusion of a "great new playground" indicates a focus on providing recreational facilities for children, making it an appealing destination for families with young kids.
While the reviews offer positive comments about the overall park and its features, they also bring attention to some areas that potential visitors should be aware of. One reviewer mentioned that the bathroom and shower facilities needed more attention and more frequent cleaning. This is an important consideration for campers who prioritize the cleanliness of these shared amenities. Additionally, the same reviewer recounted an issue with a sewage odor emanating from an open sewage line, which affected their enjoyment of their campsite and even permeated their camper overnight. They advised future visitors to consider staying on the side of the campground where there is no sewage hookup to avoid this potential problem. Another reviewer who stayed for four nights described the facilities as "clean and well cared for," presenting a somewhat contrasting view. This suggests that while the facilities are generally maintained, there might be inconsistencies or specific incidents that could impact the camping experience.
Despite the concerns raised by one reviewer, the friendly and helpful nature of the staff is consistently highlighted. One guest specifically mentioned the staff being "very nice and friendly," contributing positively to their overall experience. This suggests that the campground management is approachable and aims to provide good customer service. The presence of a new playground is a significant feature, especially for families with children, offering a safe and fun area for kids to play and socialize. The beach, despite being rocky, is also a major draw, providing direct access to the lake for swimming and other water activities. The combination of a lakefront setting, a playground, and friendly staff makes Sanilac County Forester Campground a potentially attractive option for families looking for a "camping near me" experience with recreational opportunities for children and access to a natural body of water.
The provided reviews do not offer any information regarding specific promotional offers or discounts at Sanilac County Forester Campground. To learn about any current specials, seasonal rates, local resident discounts, or family packages, it is essential to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquire about their pricing for different types of campsites (e.g., lakefront vs. non-lakefront, sites with or without sewage hookups), as well as any potential fees for amenities or activities. It would also be beneficial to ask about their policies regarding site selection and reservations, especially in light of the sewage odor issue mentioned in one review, to ensure you can choose a site that meets your preferences and avoids potential problems. Checking if they have a website or social media presence might also provide additional information on promotions and campground updates.
In conclusion, Sanilac County Forester Campground in Carsonville, MI, offers a beautiful lakefront environment with a new playground and a beach, making it a potentially great "camping near me" destination for families and lake enthusiasts. The friendly staff also contribute to a positive camping experience. However, prospective visitors should be aware of the mixed feedback regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom/shower facilities and the reported issue with sewage odors in certain areas of the campground. When making a reservation, it would be prudent to inquire about site locations relative to sewage hookups. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on services, amenities, and any promotional offers, contacting the campground directly is recommended. Despite some concerns, the appealing lakeside setting and family-friendly features make Sanilac County Forester Campground a place worth considering for your next camping adventure, especially if you are prepared with water shoes and choose your campsite thoughtfully.

Sanilac County Forester Campground Reviews
I stayed here over this weekend, very nice park, staff very nice and friendly. Lake and play area was very beautiful.Only problem I had was the bathroom/showers need more attention and cleaned more. Also, someone had the sewage open, and we kept getting a whiff of it while sitting around our fire, chased us inside, but then woke us up in the middle of the night with the smell in our camper.Next time we stay, going to stay on the side where there no sewage.
Aug 04, 2024 · Nicole GourleyWe just camped here for 4 nights. The facilities are clean and well cared for. There's a great new playground and the beach was wonderful. I recommend water shoes because it's a bit rocky but my kids loved it.
Jul 04, 2024 · Mara SchuettlerMy childhood campgrounds is growing up. It has changed so much. We had a lovely time on the beach. The park is now so modern and really well kept. Take cash for the lil store if you want ice cream.
Jul 23, 2024 · SistagirlygirlThis park is a hidden gem. We have a 33 foot travel trailer and stayed on a full hookup site for $35! There's a cute little store that sells ice cream and plays projector movies for the kids. The playground is on a bluff overlooking the water. There are lots of trees for shade. The beach is nice and sandy. When we were there, the waves were pretty high and the kids had a blast. We rented the pavilion for a family party and it came with a charcoal grill.
Feb 04, 2024 · Amber ConnellWhat a great camping experience. Only 1.5 hours from metro Detroit. They have a site for every shape and size of camper or tent. Being right on the lake side makes for best fun in the sun.
