Seven Mile Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience nestled in the beauty of the forest, Seven Mile Campground near Dunmore, West Virginia, presents an appealing option. Located in WV 24934, USA, this "amazing little campground" has garnered positive feedback for its peaceful atmosphere, well-maintained sites, and convenient access to essential amenities nearby. If you value a quiet and relaxing camping experience in a natural setting, Seven Mile Campground could be an ideal choice for your next outdoor getaway.
The environment of Seven Mile Campground is consistently described as "beautiful" and located "in the forest." This suggests a setting surrounded by trees, offering shade, a sense of seclusion, and the natural sounds of the woodland. The quiet and peaceful ambiance, even during a holiday weekend according to one reviewer, highlights the campground's ability to provide a serene escape from the noise of everyday life. Local users searching for "camping near me" who prioritize a tranquil and natural environment will likely find the setting of Seven Mile Campground highly attractive. The mention of well-maintained sites further suggests that the camping areas are kept in good condition, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the natural surroundings.
While Seven Mile Campground itself offers basic on-site amenities, it provides access to more comprehensive facilities just a short distance away. On-site, campers can expect "clean" pit latrines that are reportedly free of bugs and unpleasant odors, which is a significant factor for comfort in a more rustic camping setting. Additionally, firewood is available for purchase at a reasonable price ($6 for a generous bundle as of July 2022), making it convenient for campers to enjoy campfires. For local users seeking a more traditional "camping near me" experience with essential provisions readily available, Seven Mile Campground offers these conveniences.
A key feature of Seven Mile Campground is its proximity to a nearby "camp office," located about a mile up the road. This office serves as a hub for several important amenities that are not available directly at the campsites. These include showers, laundry facilities, WiFi access, a payphone, and maps of the area. This arrangement allows campers to enjoy a more secluded camping experience while still having access to these conveniences when needed. For local users looking for "camping near me" that balances a natural setting with access to modern amenities, Seven Mile Campground offers a practical solution.
One reviewer specifically mentioned that sites #1 and #3 are particularly "convenient if you have a trailer," suggesting that these sites might offer easier access or more space for maneuvering and parking trailers. This is valuable information for local users who plan to camp with trailers and are looking for suitable "camping near me" options. The fact that a camper with a trailer found these sites convenient indicates that the campground can accommodate different types of camping setups.
Seven Mile Campground operates on a "first come, first serve" basis, meaning that reservations for specific campsites are not typically taken. While this might require arriving early, especially during peak seasons, one reviewer noted that there are "other places to stay in the area in the extremely unlikely event that they are full," providing some reassurance. The recent addition of "online preregistration" (as of the edit to a review from a previous year) suggests that the campground is adapting to provide more convenient booking options for visitors, which is a positive development for local users planning their "camping near me" trips.
The price of camping at Seven Mile Campground, as noted in a 2018 review, was "$17" per night on a Saturday. While this price may have changed since then, it was described as a "great deal for a sweet little place in the forest." It's important to note that payment was required in "cash." Local users considering Seven Mile Campground for their "camping near me" experience should inquire about the current pricing and accepted forms of payment when planning their visit.
In addition to firewood being available for purchase, the nearby ranger station (presumably at the camp office location) also offers "ice during certain hours," which can be a valuable amenity for keeping food and drinks cold, especially during warmer months. The presence of a "playground" at the ranger station is also a notable feature, particularly for local families with children looking for "camping near me" with recreational opportunities for kids.
While one reviewer mentioned an instance where the "composting toilet was exceptionally stinky," they also noted that "it's not usually that bad!" This suggests that while occasional issues might occur with composting toilets, they are generally maintained adequately. Another reviewer mentioned neighbors with floodlights, which can occasionally happen at any campground. However, the overall sentiment from multiple reviews emphasizes the quiet and peaceful nature of Seven Mile Campground.
There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews. Local users interested in any potential discounts for local residents, off-season rates, or extended stay offers should contact the campground directly. While a phone number is not provided in the given information, local users can likely find contact details through online search engines or local camping directories by searching for "Seven Mile Campground Dunmore WV."
In conclusion, Seven Mile Campground offers a charming and typically quiet "camping near me" experience in a beautiful forest setting near Dunmore, West Virginia. Its well-maintained sites, clean pit latrines, and the convenience of purchasing firewood on-site provide essential amenities for a comfortable stay. The added benefit of showers, laundry, WiFi, a payphone, maps, ice, and a playground available at the nearby camp office (about a mile away) strikes a good balance between rustic camping and access to modern conveniences. The availability of online preregistration is a positive development for ease of planning. Local users seeking a peaceful and affordable camping option in a natural environment should definitely consider Seven Mile Campground for their next outdoor adventure, remembering to inquire about current pricing and payment methods.

Seven Mile Campground Reviews
Amazing little campground! We had site #1 and I believe this site, along with site #3 would be the most convenient if you have a trailer. Pit latrine was clean, no bugs and not stinky. There's a little shed with firewood for sale, $6 for a generous bundle as of 07/22. No showers on site, but about a mile up the road there's showers at the camp office, along with laundry, WiFi, a payphone, and maps. We were there on a holiday weekend and it was still very quiet and peaceful. We plan on taking another trip out during the fall.
Jul 04, 2022 · Katie DeekenEDIT Our visit was last year and I wanted to update to say that they now offer online preregistration.-----This is an annual favorite of ours. I'm going with four stars because this time the composting toilet was exceptionally stinky (it's not usually that bad!) and we had next-site neighbors roll in with a caravan of Jeeps and set up flood lights for the evening. The price on Saturday, 10-06-2018 was $17. It's a great deal for a sweet little place in the forest, but wanted to note it here because you need cash. Firewood is available for a few dollars, but I don't recall exactly how much. Also worth noting that it is first come, first serve but there are other places to stay in the area in the extremely unlikely event that they are full.Overall this is just a beautiful, usually quiet, camp with well-maintained sites and amenities just up the road -- ranger station with ice during certain hours, playground.

Jul 29, 2018 · Michael BeverageClean, well kept camp sites. Keep in mind that this is somewhat rustic. Single, clean vault toilet. Only water is from a pump pitcher well.
Sep 03, 2021 · Norman HartpenceIt was cheap and would have been beautiful if the remains of a hurricanes was not passing through. I want to go back to start gaze.
