Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Shreveport or Bossier City area, especially if you're traveling near the Louisiana-Texas state line, the Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey offers a comfortable and well-regarded option. Based on recent customer feedback, this campground provides a pleasant environment nestled among beautiful trees, convenient access to major roadways without the noise, and a range of amenities suitable for both overnight stays and longer visits. As part of the KOA Journey level, it appears to offer a step up in quality compared to some other campgrounds in the region, making it a strong contender for your next camping adventure.
A Scenic Environment: Beautiful Trees and Peaceful Setting
One of the first things that stands out about the Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey is its attractive natural setting. The campground is described as being "nestled in amongst beautiful trees," suggesting a shady and picturesque environment for campers to enjoy. This is a significant advantage, particularly during the warmer months, providing a cooler and more pleasant atmosphere compared to campgrounds with less natural cover. The presence of mature trees also contributes to the overall aesthetic appeal of the park, creating a more immersive outdoor experience.
Despite its convenient location not far from Interstate 20 East, the campground reportedly does not suffer from highway noise. This is a crucial factor for ensuring a peaceful and restful stay. Instead, access is via a local road, indicating a setting that balances accessibility with tranquility. You can enjoy the ease of reaching the campground without the constant hum of highway traffic disrupting your peace and quiet.
The combination of beautiful trees and a lack of highway noise creates a serene environment where you can truly relax and unwind. Whether you're looking to escape the city for a weekend or need a comfortable stopover during a longer journey, the natural ambiance of this KOA Journey is a significant draw.
Services and Amenities: Catering to Comfort and Convenience
The Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey offers a range of services and amenities designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of your stay. For RV travelers, the availability of "full hookups" is a major benefit, providing electricity (at least 30Amp), water, and sewer connections at your site. This ensures a hassle-free experience, allowing you to fully utilize the amenities of your RV without worrying about basic utilities.
The campground features a mix of site types, with some offering "concrete pads with tables." These concrete pads provide a level and clean surface for parking your RV and setting up your outdoor living space. The inclusion of a table at these sites adds further convenience for outdoor dining and activities. However, the review also mentions that "other spots are nice as well," suggesting that there are a variety of site options to choose from, potentially including more traditional gravel or grass sites.
For those looking for cabin accommodations, the campground is in the process of updating some of its cabins. This indicates a commitment to improving and modernizing the lodging options available for guests who prefer not to camp in tents or RVs. Updated cabins often offer enhanced comfort and amenities, making them an attractive alternative.
Families traveling with children will appreciate the presence of a "new kids playground." A well-maintained playground provides a safe and fun space for children to burn off energy and stay entertained, making the campground a more appealing option for family camping trips.
To combat the warm Southern climate, the campground also features a pool. This is a fantastic amenity for cooling off on hot days and provides a recreational option for guests of all ages. Whether you want to swim laps or simply relax by the water, the pool adds significant value to the overall camping experience.
The office is staffed by "nice folks" who also offer some convenience items. This suggests that you can expect friendly and helpful service upon arrival and during your stay. The availability of convenience items in the office can be useful for those last-minute needs or forgotten essentials.
Accessibility and Communication: Easy In and Out with Great Staff
Beyond the physical amenities, the Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey also excels in terms of accessibility and staff communication. One reviewer specifically praised the "great staff communication," noting that they were "very pleasant on the phone and sounded like they loved their job!" Positive and enthusiastic staff can make a significant difference in the overall camping experience, creating a welcoming and helpful atmosphere.
The campground also provides "easy instructions as well as driving in and out" for overnight stays. This is particularly important for travelers who may be arriving late or leaving early and appreciate clear and straightforward directions and campground layout. Easy access ensures a smooth and stress-free arrival and departure process.
The combination of friendly and communicative staff with easy access to and from the campground makes it a particularly appealing choice for those on shorter trips or those who value efficiency and clear guidance.

Shreveport / Bossier City KOA Journey Reviews
Just over the state line with Texas, this is a little nicer than the other 2 KOA Journey-level campgrounds we stayed at in Texas. Some concrete pads with tables, but other spots are nice as well. Nestled in amongst beautiful trees, not far from 20 East but no highway noises at all. Only a local road with easy access. Full hookups, at least 30Amp. They have some cabins being updated, and a new kids playground. Also a pool to cool off on those warm Southern days. Nice fols working in the office with some convenience items.
Apr 26, 2025 · David FisherGreat staff communication! They were very pleasant on the phone and sounded like they loved their job! Easy instructions as well as driving in and out for our overnight stay.
Apr 29, 2025 · Kimberly BurnsWe had a campsite here. They haven’t mowed the grass for a while. The pool and the area around it was really dirty. The campsites are really close together and have to avoid trees. The campsites are gravel and concrete. It’s really not a very nice KOA. The laundry was cheap and the machines were fine but the floor was filthy.
Apr 27, 2025 · Tammi WilliamsNever been to Louisiana before and decided to stay at a KOA back in Summer 2023. Boy, is it HOT. The KOA was quaint and the owners were very nice. They accommodated me coming later in the day, and I especially enjoyed seeing the cat enjoying itself on the porch, far away from the life-sized alligator figures :-)
Mar 29, 2025 · Elijah LMy husband and I are back on the road again, and this time we found ourselves in Shreveport, staying at the Shreveport/Bossier City KOA Journey. Our experience here was fantastic! The park was not only well-frequented but also expertly managed, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We appreciated the convenience of full hookups, which made settling in a breeze. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt taken care of. One thoughtful touch was when our attendant informed us that we could leave our trash out, and they would come by to pick it up in the morning—such a nice convenience!Overall, our stay was comfortable and hassle-free. A big thank you to the team at KOA for their excellent service! We’ll definitely be back on our next road trip!
