Skyanchor Campground Introduce
For local users in and around Spring Grove, Virginia, searching within the "camping near me" category, Skyanchor Campground, located at 8627 Colonial Trail W, Spring Grove, VA 23881, USA, offers a potentially appealing option for a local camping getaway. Situated in a more rural setting, this campground can be contacted at (757) 544-0922 or +1 757-544-0922 for inquiries and reservations.
The environment surrounding Skyanchor Campground in Spring Grove, Virginia, is likely characterized by the peacefulness of a less densely populated area. Located on Colonial Trail W, it suggests a setting that might be rich in history and potentially surrounded by natural landscapes typical of the Virginia countryside. The distance of "almost a 40 min drive from any town," as mentioned by one reviewer, indicates a more secluded environment, which could be attractive to local users seeking a quiet and tranquil camping experience away from urban bustle. The presence of "great neighbors" in the campground community, as noted by the same reviewer, suggests a friendly and welcoming atmosphere among campers.
The reviews provide contrasting information regarding the availability of bathroom facilities. One reviewer who stayed for an extended period mentions "no bathrooms," emphasizing the necessity of having sewer and water hookups for their RV. This suggests that at least some sections of the campground, possibly the longer-term RV sites, might not have access to communal restrooms. However, another reviewer describes Skyanchor as a "family friendly campground" that has a "bath house" with "indoor plumbing" and "access to water." This discrepancy indicates that the campground might offer different types of camping sites with varying amenities, or that the facilities have been updated or are available in specific areas of the property. Local users should clarify the availability of bathroom facilities based on their specific camping needs (tent camping vs. RV camping with or without full hookups) when making inquiries.
Based on the combined information from the reviews, we can outline the potential services and features offered at Skyanchor Campground:
- **RV Sites with Hookups:** The mention of sewer and water hookups suggests that the campground caters to RV campers, providing essential utilities for a comfortable stay. Local RV owners looking for a peaceful location might find this appealing.
- **Free Washer and Dryer for Guests:** A significant amenity highlighted by one reviewer is the availability of a "free washer and dryer for guests." This is a valuable service, especially for longer stays, and could be a major draw for local campers looking for added convenience.
- **Quiet and Peaceful Atmosphere:** The recurring description of the campground as "super quiet and peaceful" is a key feature for those seeking a relaxing retreat in nature. Local users wanting to escape noise and enjoy tranquility might find Skyanchor Campground ideal.
- **Tent Camping:** The statement that "You can tent camp" indicates that the campground also accommodates tent campers, offering a more traditional camping experience for local outdoor enthusiasts. The amenities available to tent campers, particularly regarding bathroom and water access, would need to be confirmed.
- **Bath House with Indoor Plumbing:** According to one reviewer, a bathhouse with indoor plumbing exists at the campground. This would be a crucial amenity for tent campers and RVers who do not have onboard facilities. Local users should inquire about the cleanliness, accessibility, and operating hours of the bathhouse.
- **Access to Water:** The availability of "access to water" is mentioned, which is essential for all types of campers for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. The location of water spigots and whether they are available at individual sites or communal areas should be clarified.
- **Pond:** The presence of a pond is noted, which could offer scenic views and potentially opportunities for activities like fishing or simply enjoying the waterfront. Local users interested in water features might find this appealing.
- **Friendly and Helpful Owners:** Both reviewers commend the owners, describing them as "very friendly and always willing to help you out." One specifically mentions "Sean, the land man" as being "super helpful." Positive interactions with campground management can significantly enhance the overall camping experience for local visitors.
- **Well-Maintained Property:** The statement that the owners "keep and maintain the property very well" suggests an effort to provide a clean and orderly camping environment, which is important for local users who value well-kept facilities.
- **Ongoing Renovations:** The mention that "Every time I go there they have done some type of renovations to the property" indicates a commitment to continuous improvement, which could lead to enhanced amenities and a better overall experience for local campers in the future.
As no specific promotional information such as discounts or special offers is included in the provided text, local users will need to contact Skyanchor Campground directly to inquire about pricing and any current promotions. The positive feedback regarding the quiet atmosphere, friendly owners, and the availability of a free washer and dryer stand out as potential draws. However, the conflicting information about bathroom facilities necessitates clear communication with the campground management based on individual camping needs.
For local users in the Spring Grove, VA, area seeking a peaceful "camping near me" experience, Skyanchor Campground appears to offer a tranquil setting with friendly management. The availability of both RV sites with hookups and tent camping areas caters to different preferences. The unique amenity of a free washer and dryer is a significant bonus. However, potential campers should ensure they have accurate information about the bathroom facilities available for their chosen type of camping (RV with full hookup vs. tent camping or RV without onboard restrooms). The distance from nearby towns might be a consideration for some local users, but for those valuing peace and quiet, it could be a significant advantage. Direct communication with Skyanchor Campground is recommended to clarify all amenities and ensure a satisfying local camping experience.

Skyanchor Campground Reviews
Decent camp site, definitely older, but we stayed there for almost 6 months and had no issues. The price isn't terrible for everything included, but there are no bathrooms, so make sure you have your sewer and water hook up! (Free washer and dryer for guests) Super quiet and peaceful, great neighbors, and Sean, the land man was super helpful every time we needed him! It's almost a 40 min drive from any town, but if you're used to the county and long drives, it's no different than that!

Aug 22, 2020 · PATRICIA MOONThis place is absolutely lovely. It's extremely quiet and peaceful. It's actually really conveniently located, too. You can get pretty much anywhere within 30 minutes to a few hours.
Sep 10, 2020 · M.W. CarterWe had been speaking with Norman, the owner, for FIVE months about a site for my husband's work in that area. Half the time he "forgot" about our reservations and the reservations of others who were also coming for work. We should have gone with our gut and chose one of the other campgrounds in the area. Ended up having an issue with our rv and arrived around 900pm during a storm. Pulled into the only site open which was supposed to be for us and were unable to hook up to it. As one does at all campgrounds, we told the owner the size of our RV (actually multiple times). The only option was to back in which was fine except only a tiny camper would be able to fit into the site and actually plug into the electrical box. The water hook up would have required numerous hoses coupled together and ran into a nearby building! The sewer hose would have traversed across our entry way over to same buidling. Close by hotels would not accept dogs and we ended up sleeping in a Wal-Mart parking lot with two young children!!!! I cannot advise to be cautious when trying to get a site here because i was very adamant and continuously following up with what felt like someone who did not know how to run a business; i can whole-heartedly say do NOT get a site here....you will probably be left in a similarly awful predicament as we were. When i messaged the owner the following day to let him know we were unable to utilize the site, we never heard back. Terrible business person.
Apr 17, 2024 · M GNice serene, comfortable campground. The RV portion is small, uncrowded, quiet & some what shaded with trees all around.Been there over 3 months. Of all the 50 or so campgrounds I've been to in my 60 + years, sky anchor / camp Idlewild is the absolute best. I'll be staying a while. Sean, the manager keeps the grounds clean, treats for weeds & constantly "repairs" the (rather long) driveway!
