The Price House Cabin 4 Introduce
Are you seeking a tranquil and secluded "camping near me" experience, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life? The Price House Cabin 4, located within a Virginia State Park at State Rte 633, Surry, VA 23883, USA, offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while enjoying the comforts of a historic cabin. This camping cabin provides a distinctive option for local users looking for a peaceful retreat.
The Price House Cabin 4 is described by guests as a "great cabin as far as state parks go," offering a comfortable stay within a period house. Many appreciate its peaceful and secluded atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for those seeking tranquility and privacy during their camping experience. If you value a serene environment where you can disconnect and enjoy the natural surroundings, this cabin might be the perfect "camping near me" destination for you.
One of the frequently mentioned positives is the comfort of the cabin itself. Despite being a period house, guests have found it to be very comfortable, suggesting that it offers a cozy and welcoming interior. The appreciation for its peaceful and secluded location is a recurring theme in the feedback, highlighting its appeal for those wanting a quiet escape. If seclusion and a connection with nature are high on your list when searching for "camping near me," The Price House Cabin 4 could be a great fit.
However, based on recent customer reviews, it's important for potential guests to be aware of certain aspects of The Price House Cabin 4. Several guests have noted concerns regarding the maintenance and upkeep of the property. One reviewer specifically mentioned "a number of maintenance issues" and the need for the State to improve the maintenance of these facilities.
Specific maintenance items that have been highlighted include a carpenter bee infestation causing damage to the front porch, back porch, and picnic table. This suggests that guests might encounter visible signs of wear and tear on the exterior structures. Additionally, there are reports of rotting wood on the exterior siding and trim, which could impact the overall aesthetic and potentially the structural integrity of the cabin.
Inside the cabin, there have also been reported maintenance issues. The kitchen sink faucet was noted as not functioning properly and in need of repair or replacement. This could affect the convenience of using the kitchen facilities during your stay. Furthermore, concerns were raised about the condition of the frying pans, with guests stating that the non-stick finish was missing and flaking off, suggesting they should be replaced for safe and effective cooking.
Another maintenance item mentioned is the refrigerator water/ice filter, which was reported as needing replacement. While this might not directly impact the functionality of the refrigerator, it could affect the quality of drinking water and ice produced by the appliance.
In addition to the maintenance concerns, one of the most significant drawbacks mentioned by multiple guests is the quality of the mattresses and pillows. One reviewer described the mattresses as "the worst I've ever experienced," comparing the firmness to "sleeping on the ground with a thin pad." This is a crucial factor to consider, as a comfortable night's sleep is often a key component of an enjoyable getaway. If you are particularly sensitive to mattress firmness, this is something to weigh carefully when considering The Price House Cabin 4 for your "camping near me" trip.
Another guest echoed this sentiment, simply stating that the mattress was "very firm." This consistent feedback regarding the bedding suggests that it might be a significant area for improvement at The Price House Cabin 4.
Regarding the kitchen amenities, one guest noted that the cookware was "a bit sparse, and a random assortment at that," although they did concede that it was still "very functional." This implies that while you will likely have the basic cooking utensils needed, the selection might be limited or not as comprehensive as in other rental accommodations. If you plan on doing extensive cooking during your stay, you might want to consider bringing some of your own specialized cookware.
In summary, The Price House Cabin 4 offers a unique "camping near me" experience in a secluded state park setting, providing a peaceful and comfortable stay within a period house. Guests have appreciated its tranquility and the overall comfort of the cabin. However, potential visitors should be aware of reported maintenance issues, including carpenter bee damage, rotting wood, a malfunctioning kitchen faucet, damaged frying pans, and a need for refrigerator filter replacement. Additionally, the very firm mattresses have been a point of concern for multiple guests. While the cookware is functional, the selection may be limited.
For local users seeking a secluded and historically interesting "camping near me" option, The Price House Cabin 4 might still be appealing, especially if you are prepared for the noted maintenance concerns and the firm bedding. The peaceful environment and the unique experience of staying in a period house within a state park could outweigh these drawbacks for some. However, it is recommended to consider these aspects carefully when making your decision.

Great cabin as far as state parks go. Period house but still very comfortable. We love how peaceful and secluded it is. The cookware is a bit sparse, and a random assortment at that, but still very functional. We always love coming here.
Jun 25, 2023 · Justin U.The cabin was fine. but I'm only giving it 3 stars because the mattresses and pillows were the worst I've ever experienced and there were a number of maintenance issues. The mattress was very firm, like sleeping on the ground with a thin pad.Maintenance items include:Carpenter bee infestation damaging front porch, back porch, and picnic table.Rotting wood exterior siding and trim.Kitchen sink faucet did not function properly, needs repair or replacement.Frying pans so damaged (non-stick finish missing and flaking off) they should be replaced.Refrigerator water/ice filter needs replacing. The State needs to do a better job of maintaining these facilities.
