Smiley Creek Concession Site Introduce
For those exploring "camping near me" in the Sawtooth City, Idaho area, Smiley Creek Concession Site, located in Sawtooth City, ID 83301, offers essential services for RV travelers and potentially other campers. While the name might suggest a full-fledged campground, customer reviews indicate that its primary function, and a highly valued one, is as a free RV dump station. You can reach them at (208) 727-5000 or their mobile number +1 208-727-5000 for any inquiries.
One of the most significant features of Smiley Creek Concession Site, particularly relevant for those engaged in RV camping in the region, is its RV dump station. A customer review explicitly states, "This is actually an RV Dump Station. It is a very good one." This highlights the importance of this facility for RV owners who need a place to safely and hygienically empty their holding tanks while traveling or camping in the Sawtooth City area. The reviewer extends gratitude to the state of Idaho for providing numerous such facilities across the state, underscoring the value of these services for the camping community.
Furthermore, the review points out that the use of the RV dump station is free, which is a significant benefit for budget-conscious travelers. However, it is also mentioned that donations are expected. The reviewer encourages all users to contribute to help the state maintain these facilities in good condition, emphasizing the collective responsibility of the RV community in ensuring the longevity and quality of these free services. This donation-based model allows users to contribute based on their usage and appreciation of the service.
In addition to the RV dump station, Smiley Creek Concession Site also appears to offer food services. However, the customer review provides a less favorable assessment of this aspect. The food is described as "ehhh" in quality and "high priced." The reviewer suggests that the pricing might be partially attributed to the site's remote location, being "in the middle of nowhere." Specific examples of prices include over $8 for kids' meals and $15 for a basic cheeseburger and fries. These prices might be a consideration for campers looking for affordable meal options.
Another concern raised by the reviewer regarding the food service is the unprofessional conduct of some of the workers. It is mentioned that customers have to listen to workers engaging in "dirty talk" while eating. This type of behavior can significantly detract from the dining experience and might be a deterrent for some visitors. It is important to note that this is based on a single customer's experience, but it is a factor that potential visitors might want to be aware of.
The review also comments on the "Famous" milkshakes offered at the concession site, priced at $7.75 for a 24 oz serving. The reviewer opines that these milkshakes are "just like milkshakes you can get anywhere" and not worth the premium price. This suggests that while the milkshakes might be a popular item, they may not live up to a "famous" billing in terms of uniqueness or quality compared to standard milkshakes available elsewhere.
Based on the available information, the environment of Smiley Creek Concession Site is not explicitly described beyond its location in Sawtooth City, Idaho. The fact that it is described as being "in the middle of nowhere" suggests a potentially remote or isolated setting, which could be both an advantage (for peace and quiet) and a disadvantage (for access to other amenities or services). The surrounding natural environment of Sawtooth City is known for its stunning mountain scenery, so it's plausible that the concession site benefits from this backdrop. However, specific details about the immediate surroundings of the site itself are lacking.
In terms of additional services or features beyond the RV dump station and food service, the provided information is insufficient. There is no mention of camping facilities, restrooms (though implied by the RV dump station), water availability (beyond the dump station), or any other amenities typically found at campgrounds or rest stops. Therefore, it is difficult to assess its suitability for overnight stays or as a general base for exploring the Sawtooth City area based solely on these reviews.
Promotional information is absent from the provided text. There are no mentions of special offers, discounts, or specific reasons to visit beyond the need for an RV dump station or the availability of food (albeit with noted drawbacks). Those interested in learning more about the site's offerings or any potential improvements in service or pricing would need to contact the management directly.
Considering the category "camping near me," Smiley Creek Concession Site primarily functions as a crucial service point for RVers in the Sawtooth City area due to its free RV dump station. While it also offers food, the reviews suggest that the quality might be mediocre and the prices high, with concerns raised about worker conduct. Therefore, for those specifically looking for a campground with overnight facilities and a range of amenities, Smiley Creek Concession Site might not be the primary destination. However, its valuable RV dump service makes it a significant point of interest for RV travelers in the region. Campers might utilize the dump station and then seek other campgrounds or dining options nearby.
For local users and those traveling through the Sawtooth City area, Smiley Creek Concession Site serves a vital need with its free RV dump station, where donations are encouraged to support its upkeep. While food is available, potential customers should be aware of the reported quality and pricing issues, as well as the concerns about worker behavior. If food is a necessity due to the remote location, it might be an option, but it's advisable to have alternative plans if possible. The stunning natural surroundings of Sawtooth City might make a stop worthwhile for the convenience of the dump station, but for a comprehensive camping experience, other nearby campgrounds would likely be more suitable.
In conclusion, Smiley Creek Concession Site's primary and highly appreciated feature is its free RV dump station, a valuable resource for the camping community in the Sawtooth City, Idaho area. While it also offers food services, reviews indicate potential issues with quality, price, and worker conduct. For those searching for "camping near me," this site should be primarily considered for its essential RV service, with caution advised regarding the food offerings based on the available feedback. Further inquiry might be necessary to ascertain any other services or amenities available at this location.

This is actually an RV Dump Station. It is a very good one. Thank you to the state of Idaho for building so many of these around the state. Free to use but donations are expected and all of us should donate so the state keeps these in good shape.
Nov 17, 2018 · Ernest KyedFood is ehhh and is high priced. I am sure partially because it's in the middle if no where. $8+ for kids meals. $15 for a basic cheeseburger and fries. Plus while you eat you have to listen to workers talk dirty. Their "Famous" milkshakes for $7.75 for like 24 oz isn't honestly worth it. They are just like milkshakes you can get anywhere.
