While the name includes "Pavilion," it's important to understand that this refers to a specific facility within a campground setting, as indicated by the positive review mentioning it as a "great place to relax with family" and a "very nice campground." You can contact them at (541) 498-2531 or +1 541-498-2531 for more information or reservations.
Environment and Location:
Crescent, Oregon, is situated in Klamath County, known for its stunning natural landscapes, including forests, mountains, and the beautiful Crescent Lake. South Shore Pavilion is located across the road from the lakeshore, offering excellent water views while providing a slight buffer from the direct winds that might be more prevalent closer to the immediate shoreline. This location allows visitors to enjoy the scenic beauty of Crescent Lake in a potentially more sheltered environment. The surrounding area is likely characterized by the typical Oregonian wilderness, with opportunities for hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities associated with a lake environment.
The presence of mosquitos in the area is mentioned in one review, which is common in many lakeside environments, especially during warmer months. The reviewer also notes the presence of bats frequenting the pavilion, suggesting a natural ecosystem at play and potentially a form of natural mosquito control. This detail provides insight into the outdoor nature of the facility.
The proximity to restrooms, a playground, and horseshoe pits, as mentioned in the review, indicates that South Shore Pavilion is likely part of a larger campground facility with shared amenities. This makes it an attractive option for families and groups looking for recreational opportunities beyond just the lake itself.
Services and Amenities (Specific to the Pavilion):
South Shore Pavilion itself appears to be an open-air structure designed for group use and relaxation. Key amenities specific to the pavilion include:
- Excellent Waterview: Being located across the road from the lakeshore still provides unobstructed and pleasant views of Crescent Lake.
- Sideboard Counter and Sink: The pavilion features a handy sideboard counter and a sink with working water, providing a convenient space for food preparation and cleanup. The reviewer noted using soap to clean the sink, implying its functionality.
- Multiple BBQs and One Large Grill: The presence of several BBQ grills and a large grill suggests that the pavilion is well-equipped for outdoor cooking for families or larger groups. Users are advised to bring a wire brush to clean the grills before use, as mentioned in the review.
- Two Trash Cans: The provision of two trash cans near the pavilion helps maintain cleanliness and encourages responsible waste disposal.
- Thick Timber Tables and Benches: The pavilion is furnished with thick timber tables and benches, offering sturdy seating and dining areas. However, standard tablecloth clamps may not work due to the thickness of the timbers.
It is important to remember that the pavilion is "outdoor" and "open to nature." This means it is not an enclosed building and will be subject to natural elements. The reviewer's suggestion to bring a broom to sweep the counter and tables/benches indicates that some natural debris (like pine needles, as they mentioned using pine branches for cleaning) might accumulate.
Features and Campground Integration:
The unique feature of South Shore Pavilion is its provision of a dedicated outdoor space for gatherings within a campground setting. This makes it ideal for families, groups of friends, or even small events who want a central meeting and cooking area while enjoying the natural surroundings and access to Crescent Lake.
The pavilion's proximity to other campground amenities enhances its appeal:
- Restrooms: Nearby restrooms provide essential facilities for users of the pavilion and the campground in general.
- Playground: The presence of a playground suggests that the campground is family-friendly, and the pavilion's location allows easy access for families with children.
- Horseshoe Pits: The inclusion of horseshoe pits offers a fun recreational activity for all ages, adding to the campground's overall appeal.
The positive reviews, despite the minor inconvenience of needing to sweep the pavilion, highlight the overall value and enjoyment of the facility and the campground. The first reviewer specifically mentions it being "well worth the price," indicating a good balance between the cost and the amenities offered.

South Shore Pavilion Reviews
Great place to relax with family - Pavillion is located across the road from the lakeshore. As a result, there is less wind at the pavillion than at the first come/first serve picnic tables closer to the shore. The waterview is excellent. This is an outdoor pavillion open to nature. It appears bats frequent the pavillion, which given the mosquitos in the area is a good thing. Be sure to bring a broom with you so you can do a quick sweep of the counter and the tables/benches. It isn't a big deal, shouldn't detour you from using the pavillion, I just wish I had known. We made do with pine branches, and paper towels. We used soap to clean out the sink. The sideboard counter is handy, the sink water works well. There are multiple BBQ's and one large grill. If you plan to use these, bring a wire brush to clean well prior to using. There are two trash cans near the pavillion. The tables are thick timbers so your usual tablecloth clamps will not work. It is a great facility, near restrooms, playground, and horseshoe pits. Well worth the price.
