Stand Rock Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the popular Wisconsin Dells area? Stand Rock Campground, located at N570 County Rd N, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965, USA, and reachable at (608) 253-2169 or +1 608-253-2169, offers a potentially beautiful and clean environment for both tent and RV campers. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground has several appealing features, but also some important aspects that local users should be aware of before booking their stay.
The environment of Stand Rock Campground is described as "beautiful" and "very quiet and clean" by one reviewer who tent camped there. The campground reportedly offers "beautiful spots for tents," suggesting a scenic natural setting. However, this reviewer also noted that tent sites might be "a little close if there are other tenters," indicating that privacy between tent sites could be limited when the campground is more occupied. On a positive note, the campground features a "hiking trail," which is a significant amenity for nature enthusiasts and those looking to explore the local surroundings on foot. The overall impression is of a well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing environment that prioritizes cleanliness and offers natural beauty, making it potentially attractive for local users seeking a peaceful outdoor setting near the Dells' attractions.
The services and features at Stand Rock Campground include amenities that cater to a range of camping needs. For tent campers, "wonderful water and electric hookups" are mentioned, suggesting that even those in tents have access to some basic utilities. RV campers would also benefit from these hookups. The campground boasts "very clean and nice" bathrooms with "good and plenty of" showers, which is a crucial aspect for comfort and hygiene during a camping trip. For recreational activities, there is a pool that was enjoyed by teenagers, indicating a family-friendly amenity for cooling off during the warmer months. However, the mini-putt course is noted as needing "some work," suggesting it might not be in optimal condition for use. One significant drawback mentioned by a reviewer is the "strange and not exactly convenient" hours of the office and store. The store's closing time at 4 PM was specifically problematic for purchasing essentials like ice and firewood, especially for late arrivals who might find the office closed as well, making it difficult to locate their assigned spot. Despite these limitations, the staff are described as "very friendly," which can contribute positively to the overall guest experience. The opportunity to walk through the seasonal campground and observe the various setups of campers and "houses" is also mentioned as an enjoyable, albeit passive, feature.
A key feature of Stand Rock Campground is its location, described as "very nice" and "easy to get to all the main attractions" of Wisconsin Dells. This proximity to the Dells' numerous entertainment options, including water parks, theme parks, and other tourist destinations, makes it a convenient base for local users wanting to enjoy these attractions while still having a campground to return to. The cleanliness of the campground, attributed in part to "a ton of requirements which mandate campers to have their site look a certain way," is another notable feature. While these requirements might ensure a visually appealing and well-maintained environment, the second review raises concerns about the potential for unilaterally imposed "policies" that are not included in the initial contract. This suggests that local users should be prepared to adhere to specific aesthetic and maintenance standards for their campsite.
The second review also brings to light some significant potential issues regarding management practices. The reviewer advises to "Read your contract thoroughly" but warns against being surprised by "policies" imposed after the fact. The serious allegation that "they will add rules as they go" and the disturbing account of a neighbor being "kicked out" without direct communication from management (finding out through others looking at their site for rent) are critical points of concern for potential campers. The limited office hours and the reported failure to answer the phone further compound these concerns, suggesting potential difficulties in resolving issues or getting clarifications during a stay. While the campground is acknowledged as "beautiful & clean," these management-related issues could overshadow the positive aspects for some local users who prioritize clear communication and consistent adherence to agreed-upon terms.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Stand Rock Campground based on the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for local residents, off-season rates, or any special offers should contact the campground directly at (608) 253-2169 or +1 608-253-2169 to inquire. Given the reported communication challenges, persistence might be necessary when trying to reach the management for such inquiries. It would be prudent for local users to ask detailed questions about the contract, any additional rules or policies, and the best way to contact management during their stay.
In conclusion, Stand Rock Campground in Wisconsin Dells offers a beautiful and clean environment with amenities like water and electric hookups, clean bathrooms and showers, and a pool. Its location provides easy access to the Dells' attractions, making it a convenient option for local users. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues regarding the proximity of tent sites when occupied, the inconvenient office and store hours, and, more significantly, the serious allegations concerning management practices, including unilaterally imposed rules and poor communication. Local users are advised to proceed with caution, thoroughly review any contract, and attempt to get clear answers to any questions or concerns before booking their stay at Stand Rock Campground.

Stand Rock Campground Reviews
We tent camped there. Beautiful spots for tents but a little close if there are other tenters (we were the only ones thank goodness). Also not well marked. But it was a beautiful campground and very quiet and clean. We enjoyed the hiking trail! The bathrooms were very clean and nice! Showers were good and plenty of them. My teens enjoyed the pool. The mini putt could use some work. We passed on using that. The hours of the office and store are strange and not exactly convenient. Thankfully we really didn’t need anything, except when we arrived after 4 we had no idea how to find our spot since the office was closed. Also hard to get ice and firewood when the store closes at 4. The staff were very friendly though and have a nice park! We also enjoyed walking through the seasonal campground to see all the amazing set ups of the campers and houses. Very nice location too! Easy to get to all the main attractions!!
Aug 11, 2019 · Melissa Van DonselaarRead your contract thoroughly. But don’t be surprised if they impose “policies” that aren’t included in the contract. As someone else mentioned, they will add rules as they go. One of our neighbors was kicked out, but they didn’t find out from management. They found out when people were coming by to look at their site. Management posted their site for rent before telling them they were being booted. The campground is beautiful & clean, though. But that’s mostly because they have a ton of requirements which mandate campers to have their site look a certain way. And if you have any questions or complaints, forget it. They don’t answer the phone & their office hours are very limited.
Sep 26, 2021 · DaniBeware of poor management. The campground itself is clean and scenic. The ownership and management make it impossible to relax or enjoy your stay. The owner drives around in her car looking for everything and anything to complain about. She goes on Facebook and posts her findings (always negative) don’t be surprised to be under constant scrutiny and to be held to rules that are clearly not in the contract. The owner makes stuff up and pretends her contract is some sort of one sided authoritarian ruling. I work in contract law and found myself baffled to all of her imaginary and completely baseless claims. As one other review stated the rules are for some but not all. The more money you spend the higher priority you are and less likely to end up being under the looking glass. Several times last summer the pool was closed during 90+ degree days. The store is never and I mean never open. There was a storm last summer and trying to get the manager to help on “her day off” was pathetic. Branches were downed everywhere. It was Very dangerous, but we were scolded for bothering her. There is a band every Saturday and it’s loud until 10 pm/golf carts are constantly racing around the campground with zero caution to small children. Per your “contract” you are expected to make numerous costly improvements to your site at your expense, that needs to be “approved” by the owner. Your not allowed to have screen tents and you should forget about having guests if you don’t want them scrutinized and rung through the wringer with phoney waivers and background checks. Other than the sites themselves I have nothing good to say about this place and urge anyone considering a seasonal to find other accommodations. Last year alone over 26 people left. Camping should be relaxing and enjoying. This place is stress and drama.
Mar 08, 2022 · Brian NiggemannWe stayed at Stand Rock for the first time last weekend. The campground is very nice. Sites are a good size, my kids enjoyed the playground, and the staff is friendly. The sites are all very shaded. It's a little confusing to figure out the site lines and whose firepit/electric/water are whose, but since it's off season, the campground was pretty empty, so it didn't matter. The bathrooms are super clean and I liked the individual showers. My only suggestion is that there needs to be a bigger sign for the campground. We arrived after dark and had a hard time spotting the sign from the road as it's pretty small. Yes, there is noise from the interstate nearby and the trains, but it didn't bother us at all. All in all, we enjoyed Stand Rock and plan to go back.
Oct 19, 2018 · Heidi MeyerThis campground was nice. Very quiet and family oriented. The only problem was the staff. Like another person wrote, the lady upon check-in was not very friendly. Made me feel not welcome. Also a guy approached me and my kids telling us to be at the campsite now cause of kids curfew. I had to tell him I was not under 18, and all he said was, "oh". The staff sucked. They need attitude adjustments. But the pool and bathrooms were immaculate! Campground = Great. Staff = Horrible.
