Sunset Rock RV Park Introduce
For local residents in Vermont and surrounding areas seeking a delightful "camping near me" experience with beautiful lake access and a family-friendly atmosphere, Sunset Rock RV Park, located at 755 Quarry Rd on Isle La Motte, VT, offers an inviting destination. Situated right on the shores of Lake Champlain, this campground provides a range of amenities and a welcoming environment that keeps guests returning year after year. With accommodating owners, clean facilities, and convenient features for both RV and tent campers, Sunset Rock RV Park promises a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
Prime Lakeside Location on Lake Champlain:
One of the standout features of Sunset Rock RV Park is its exceptional location directly on Lake Champlain. This provides campers with easy access for swimming and a variety of water sports, making it an ideal choice for families and individuals who enjoy spending time on the water. The allure of camping right by the lake offers stunning views and the convenience of launching kayaks, canoes, or simply enjoying a refreshing swim in the lake's waters. The lakeside setting undoubtedly contributes to the overall relaxing and scenic ambiance of the campground.
Welcoming and Accommodating Owners:
The owners of Sunset Rock RV Park consistently receive high praise for their friendly and accommodating nature. Reviews highlight their willingness to go the extra mile for their guests, such as facilitating late check-ins and ensuring that even short-stay visitors feel included in campground activities, as evidenced by their son's participation in "Camper Halloween." This personal touch and genuine hospitality create a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel like valued members of the campground community, fostering a sense of belonging and enhancing the overall camping experience.
Impeccably Maintained Swimming Pool:
For those who prefer a controlled swimming environment, Sunset Rock RV Park boasts an impeccably maintained swimming pool. The cleanliness of the pool is specifically mentioned in reviews, indicating a high standard of care in its upkeep. This provides a refreshing alternative to lake swimming and a safe and enjoyable space for families and individuals to cool off and relax during their stay.
Recent Renovations and Clean Facilities:
Sunset Rock RV Park demonstrates a commitment to providing comfortable and up-to-date facilities through recent renovations. The bathhouse near the tent sites and the laundry/restrooms house by the front of the campground have both undergone renovations. This suggests that guests can expect clean and well-maintained facilities, contributing to a more pleasant and convenient camping experience. Clean restrooms and laundry facilities are essential for a comfortable stay, especially for longer trips.
Convenient Electrical Outlets at All Sites:
A significant convenience offered at Sunset Rock RV Park is that every campsite, including the tent sites, is equipped with an electrical outlet. This is a notable feature, as many campgrounds only provide electrical hookups at their RV sites. The availability of electricity at tent sites allows campers to easily charge devices, run fans, or even enjoy amenities like watching movies before bed, as mentioned in a review. This thoughtful inclusion caters to the modern needs of campers and adds a level of comfort to the traditional tent camping experience.
Tall and Well-Designed Fire Pits:
Campfire enthusiasts will appreciate the well-designed fire pits at Sunset Rock RV Park. Unlike the small, shallow holes found at some campgrounds, the fire pits here are tall and constructed from half a metal barrel. This design likely allows for safer and more efficient campfires, providing a better experience for cooking over the fire or simply enjoying the warmth and ambiance of a crackling fire in the evening. The quality of the fire pits is a thoughtful detail that enhances the overall camping experience.
Spacious and Private Campsites Available:
While campsite sizes may vary, Sunset Rock RV Park offers the opportunity to secure spacious and private locations. One reviewer mentioned being fortunate to get a site at the top of the campground with plenty of space and privacy. This suggests that the campground layout includes a variety of site options to accommodate different preferences, with some offering more seclusion and room to spread out. It's advisable to inquire about site availability and characteristics when making a reservation to find the best fit for your needs.
Provision of Picnic Tables:
While one reviewer noted the initial absence of a picnic table at their site, the campground staff promptly provided one upon request. This responsiveness highlights the accommodating nature of the owners and their willingness to ensure guests have the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The presence of picnic tables at campsites adds convenience for outdoor dining and other activities.
Family-Friendly Atmosphere and Activities:
Sunset Rock RV Park is described as a "nice little family friendly campsite." The inclusion of activities like "Camper Halloween" demonstrates the campground's commitment to creating a fun and engaging environment for families. The welcoming nature of the owners, who make guests feel like old friends, further contributes to this family-friendly atmosphere, making it a place where both children and adults can feel comfortable and enjoy their time.

Sunset Rock RV Park Reviews
This was our 4th time staying here. The owners are very friendly and accommodating (we had a late check-in). Even though we were only staying for the weekend, they made sure to include our son in Camper Halloween. The maintenance on the swimming pool is impeccable; it's very clean. Recent renovations have been done on the bath house by the tent sites, as well as the laundry/restrooms house by the front. Every site, including the tents, has an electrical outlet; super convenient for our son that loves watching movies before bed. A big plus for us was the fire pits. We've been to many campgrounds that just have small, shallow holes in the ground. The ones here are tall, and made with half a metal barrel. We didn't have a picnic table on our site, but we asked at the office in any were available and they brought is one. All in all, we'll definitely be coming back and 100% recommend this place to anyone looking to get away and relax.
Aug 08, 2023 · Jessica RossettiNice little family friendly campsite. Right on the Champlane with easy access for swimming and water sports. The camp owners were very welcoming and made you feel like they had known you for years. Camp sites vary in sizes but we were fortunate to get a site at the top of the site where we had plenty of space and privacy.
Jul 07, 2019 · Bryan RodriguezThis is a really nice family-run private campground in a quiet spot. I rode in on a recently bicycling trip and was greeted by a friendly member of the staff. She set me up in a cozy little cabin. The lake is just across the road and the campground has an access point. On the road in, check out the Goodsell Preserve, which has an interesting display about the fossil-filled limestone outcroppings in the area. I actually found some fossils in the rocks near my cabin. Highly recommended.
Jul 24, 2021 · Dave BoneWe spent the first week of July there. Is was sensational. The people were very friendly and helpful. They had a ton of activities for the 4th, including a parade, 2 bands and a fireworks display. Not to mention the food that was there, all included in the package.
Jul 29, 2022 · Rick MarrierI booked two nights at this RV park thinking that it would make for a nice, unique stay, as it's situated on Isle La Motte in Lake Champlain. My mistake. It is really a seasonal park that makes very few concessions to travelers or visitors. Service wasn't there, as the manager was out. Our site was apparently one of just five "traveler" RV sites set away from the seasonal campers down a rough gravel road. The site was grassy, muddy, and extremely unlevel. Hookups were adequate. Firepit was a joke. Amenities are nowhere evident for travelers and there is no campstore. No WIFI, cable, or cell service. It's a long way into town, or anywhere else for that matter. There are many other CG's to stay at in Vermont when we return.
