Thornhill Broome Campground Introduce
If you're searching for "Camping Near Me" and considering a coastal camping experience in the scenic Malibu area, Thornhill Broome Campground, located at 9000 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265, USA, presents a beachfront setting. You can reach them at (310) 457-8143 or +1 310-457-8143 for inquiries.
One of the primary features of Thornhill Broome Campground, as highlighted by a customer review, is its "very simple setup" that allows you to "set up a tent on the beach." The location is undeniably beautiful, offering direct access to the Pacific Ocean and the picturesque coastline of Malibu. For those who value the experience of sleeping steps away from the sand and waking up to the sound of the waves, this campground offers a unique opportunity.
However, it is crucial to consider recent feedback from other campers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of Thornhill Broome Campground. Multiple concerns have been raised regarding the professionalism of the staff encountered upon arrival. Specifically, reviewers have described interactions with young men at the kiosk as "rude" and "unprofessional," with questions being met with "short, rude answers." This negative initial experience significantly impacted at least one camper's decision to not return.
Cleanliness appears to be another significant issue at the campground. One review explicitly states that the "porta potties are disgustingly dirty." Furthermore, there are reports of "trash all over the beach," detracting from the natural beauty of the location. These observations suggest potential shortcomings in the upkeep and maintenance of the campground facilities and the surrounding beach area.
Campers should also be aware of the beach conditions themselves. While the presence of "rocks everywhere on the beach" is noted as something to be mindful of, a more concerning issue was a swimmer being hit in the leg by a rock while close to the shore, resulting in a bruise. This suggests a potential hazard for those entering the water and warrants caution.
Another practical consideration for tent campers at Thornhill Broome is the high tide in the evening. According to a review, the tide can rise significantly, so it is essential to be "very cautious as to where you pop your tent" to avoid being affected by the water. This necessitates careful planning and awareness of tidal patterns when choosing a campsite.
The location of campsites relative to waste disposal also appears to be a concern. One camper advises being careful about staying "next to the trash bins because they overflow and STINK." This indicates potential issues with waste management at the campground, which could negatively impact the camping experience due to unpleasant odors.
Overall, the recent feedback paints a concerning picture of a campground that may have declined in quality over time. One long-time camper expressed disappointment, stating, "Years ago this was one of the best. The park rangers sure have let this one go downhill and it’s a shame." This suggests a potential deterioration in the management and maintenance of Thornhill Broome Campground.
While the allure of beachfront camping in Malibu is undeniable, prospective campers should carefully weigh the reported issues against the simple setup and beautiful location. The negative experiences shared by recent visitors regarding staff attitude, cleanliness of facilities, beach conditions, and waste management are significant factors to consider when making a decision about where to camp.
It is important to note that this introduction is based solely on the provided customer reviews and does not include any information that was not present in the original text. Therefore, a balanced perspective requires acknowledging both the potential appeal of the beachfront location and the serious concerns raised by recent campers.
If you are still interested in exploring Thornhill Broome Campground despite these concerns, contacting them directly at the provided phone numbers might offer further insights into the current conditions and any measures being taken to address the issues raised in the reviews. However, based on the available information, it would be prudent for those searching for "Camping Near Me" in Malibu to also explore alternative campgrounds in the area to ensure a more positive and hassle-free camping experience.
In conclusion, Thornhill Broome Campground offers a unique beachfront camping experience in Malibu. However, recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding staff professionalism, cleanliness of porta potties and the beach, potential hazards on the beach, the impact of high tides on campsite selection, and issues with overflowing and smelly trash bins. Prospective campers should carefully consider these factors before choosing to stay at Thornhill Broome Campground and may want to explore other options for "Camping Near Me" in the Malibu region.

Thornhill Broome Campground Reviews
First let’s start with how rude the young men are whom work at the kiosk. This alone will make us never be back. Upon arrival the staff was very unprofessional. The questions we had were met with short, rude answers. The two young men acted as if we were a bothering them. The porta potties are disgustingly dirty. Trash all over the beach and the oil sludge/tar was impossible to get off of our feet 👣. Rocks everywhere on the beach was is fine but be careful because while swimming close to shore one pelted me in the leg and it hurt! I had a nice bruise for a week. The tide gets so high in the evening you need to be very cautious as to where you pop your tent. Be careful of staying next to the trash bins because they overflow and STINK 🤢. All in all after years of camping we will not be back here. Years ago this was one of the best. The park rangers sure have let this one go downhill and it’s a shame.obviously not all is their fault but the bad attitude and the unclean nature of the campsite needs to be addressed.

Jan 01, 2025 · Jennifer PelayoAverage amenities. Good view. Able to sleep under the stars as there are no sand/beach bugs.
Jan 14, 2025 · Leo LeWe went here for a birthday camping trip as my SO and I share the a birthday with 1 day apart! Scheduling online was a little finicky but worked out in the end and that what matters honestly haha. We got I believe camping spot 17 and what an amazing spot and view. Even just getting into the camp grounds the mood and atmosphere was so welcoming and nice (the ranger who let us in was so kind to us!). We definitely recommend to bring your own firewood as the ones that they sell are 8 dollars a pack (so if you know a guy def use that person instead) and bring a bigger tent if you're going to camp in a tent as the condensation goes wild during the night and makes the inner walls of the tent SOAKING wet so to not have your blankets and sleeping bags drenched you need more space in the center of the tent. Each site allows up to 3 cars and as long as your inside of your section I think up to 8-10 people (or as many as can fit honestly can't really tell?). A big warning for those who want to get into camping and want to do beach camping as an introductory camping experience BRING MORE LAYERS in terms of clothes, blankets, sleeping gear. If you get too hot you can always take off a layer but if you're freezing you if you don't have that layer you're going to be MISERABLE. Typically I usually bring my own toliet paper for restroom things but the port-a-pottys seem to have some decent TP and was pretty clean (but as clean as a outdoor port-a-potty would be.
Feb 10, 2024 · Dorky “DorkyBaesian”Our favorite place to camp on the beach!! For the experience of sleeping on the sand it is completely worth the $35!! The sunsets are amazing. We’ve loved camping here for many years. Book in advance as it gets booked fast!! We got lucky and found a cancellation last minute. Check in is easy and the spaces are large!! There is easily enough room for 4 or 5 big tents and 3 vehicles. Each spot has a fire pit and a picnic table. There are porta-pottys(this was the only negative for us as they were gross and messy) No showers. Water spigots are along the road. The camp host has firewood for sale most of the time. Closest store is about 20 minutes away. We will keep staying here!
