Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Jefferson, Ohio area, Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake, located at 2021 Mill Creek Rd, Jefferson, OH 44047, USA, presents a camping option with a lake setting. However, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware that recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture of the campground, particularly regarding its management, facilities, and suitability for families with children or those seeking a lively camping experience. These reviews highlight significant issues that prospective campers should carefully consider before making a reservation or visiting this location.
The environment of Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake is likely centered around Kenisee Lake, offering the potential for lakeside activities and scenic views. Lakefront campgrounds often attract visitors seeking opportunities for fishing, boating, and enjoying the natural beauty of the water. However, the positive aspects of the natural environment may be overshadowed by the reported issues within the campground itself. The reviews do not elaborate on the specific natural features or the accessibility of the lake, but the presence of a lake is generally considered an attractive attribute for a campground.
Based on the negative customer feedback, the services and facilities at Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake appear to be a significant area of concern. One reviewer explicitly states that "the facilities were not well-maintained," which could encompass a range of issues such as the condition of restrooms, showers, campsites, or other amenities offered by the campground. Poorly maintained facilities can detract significantly from the overall camping experience and raise concerns about hygiene and comfort. The lack of specific details about which facilities were lacking makes it difficult to provide a comprehensive list, but the general sentiment is negative.
A major point of contention in the reviews is the management of Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake. One reviewer expresses disappointment with the management, stating that they "will act like the most friendliest person to you but behind your back is a different story," which they deem unprofessional and detrimental to their stay. Another reviewer goes further, claiming that the "staff ruin it by harassing everyone" and that the manager shows favoritism towards family and friends who are seasonal campers. These are serious allegations that suggest potential issues with the way the campground is run and the interactions between staff and guests.
The rules and regulations at Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake, as described by one disgruntled camper, also seem to be quite restrictive and potentially unreasonable for a typical camping environment. The reviewer mentions being told that "you are not allowed sparklers or to be making any noise past 11. That also includes in your camper which makes no sense." Such stringent noise restrictions, even within the confines of one's own camper, could create an atmosphere that is far from the relaxed and enjoyable experience many campers seek. This level of control might be more suited to a very quiet residential setting rather than a campground.
A particularly strong warning is given regarding the campground's suitability for children. Despite a potential claim of being "extremely kid friendly," one reviewer explicitly calls this a "lie" based on their experience. Another reviewer emphatically states, "This is a KID FREE ZONE so if you have kids or if you want to have any kind of fun please avoid this place." This suggests that the campground may have a culture or rules that are not conducive to families with children or those who enjoy more active or lively camping activities. The implication is that a quiet and perhaps even unwelcoming atmosphere prevails for those who are not seeking a very subdued experience.
The presence of "seasonal campers" is also highlighted as a potential issue, with one reviewer claiming that they, along with the staff, contribute to a negative atmosphere by "harassing everyone." While seasonal campers are common in many campgrounds, the accusation of harassment is serious and should be a significant concern for prospective visitors. The suggestion that these seasonal campers are favored by management further supports the allegations of unfair treatment and a potentially unwelcoming environment for short-term guests.
Given the overwhelmingly negative sentiment in the provided reviews, it is difficult to identify positive features of Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake. The potential for a lakeside setting is mentioned, but the negative aspects related to management, facilities, and the overall atmosphere appear to outweigh this natural advantage for many campers. The strong warnings against visiting with children or expecting a fun camping experience should be taken seriously by local users searching for "camping near me."
Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided reviews. There are no mentions of special rates, discounts, or any positive aspects that might serve as promotional points. The strong negative feedback effectively acts as a deterrent rather than an enticement. Local users would need to seek information directly from Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake regarding pricing and availability, but the concerns raised in the reviews should be kept firmly in mind.
In conclusion, while Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake in Jefferson, OH, is located near Kenisee Lake, the overwhelmingly negative customer reviews present significant concerns for local users seeking "camping near me." Allegations of poorly maintained facilities, unprofessional and biased management, overly restrictive rules (including noise restrictions within campers), and a potentially unwelcoming atmosphere for children and those seeking a fun experience should give potential visitors pause. The strong recommendations to avoid the campground suggest that the actual camping experience may not align with the expectations of many. It is advisable for local users to thoroughly investigate these concerns and perhaps consider alternative campgrounds in the area that have received more positive feedback before deciding to stay at Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake.

Thousand Trails Kenisee Lake Reviews
I recently stayed at this campground and had a very disappointing experience. The facilities were not well-maintained, and for them saying they are “extremely kid friendly “ is a lie . However, I was very disappointed in the management they will act like the most friendliest person to you but behind your back is a different story. Which is not professional.Apparently even though we r camping you are not allowed sparklers or to be making any noise past 11. That also includes in your camper which makes no sense. This kind of management is unacceptable and really ruined our stay. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant camping experience.
Dec 26, 2024 · Cammie LynnaeIf I could rate this place a 0 I would! This place has a ton of potential but the seasonal campers and the staff ruin it by harassing everyone and the sad thing is they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. The managers family and friends camp all year round and she is so busy picking favorites that she can’t even properly control a campground like she’s supposed to. Absolutely No Fun is allowed here but If you’re going into retirement this is the place for you. Also This is a KID FREE ZONE so if you have kids or if you want to have any kind of fun please avoid this place. Basically just don’t waste your time or money
Dec 26, 2024 · Salina StarnesMy family and I Stayed an entire summer and we would never go back. I just want to make sure nobody wastes their hard earned money like we did so I will make sure to tell everyone about my experience. Geese poo everywhere. Staff and campers harassed us the entire time. No lifeguard ever at the pool. The store looks like something from a zombie apocalypse. But more than anything the worst were the long term campers and the main manager, they are like nothing I’ve ever seen before in my 32 years of camping. They were so rude and petty. Stay away and don’t bother

Please STAY AWAY and save your money!!To the owner…You say that you will do things but yet this manager can run the campground to the ground!! Stuff don’t work, playground stuff are broken,no good chairs at pool, food stand broke, rude manager, employees are pretty nice. That’s is about it!! Has the potential to be a nice place! Just the management is running it to the ground!! This is NOT a kid friendly place!!! All that is cared about is money. Nothing wants to be fixed. People should care more about things more than money.
Mar 17, 2025 · Rick HassBy far one of the worse campgrounds I been to! Although they advertised to be kid/family friendly they are anything but! I came to visit my sister who was trying out the campground herself as a seasonal lot for 4th of July weekend and was met with nothing but harsh stares and multiple complaints by management and seasoned seasonal campers who think they are management because i was someone new to the campground even thoigh veronica the manger is who checked us in and helped escort my family to my familys lot! They hold extremly hard on the 11oclock quiet time and expect even in your camper lights to be off and camper quiet my sister recieved many complains because her "lights" were on in her camper past 11pm and they could hear laughing in the camper!!! A neighboring camper even admitted to submitting video evidence of my 7yr old neice dancing in the camper after 11pm that he admitted he took thru the windows and when reported to management they covered up and justified the legal act by saying rules are quiet at 11!!! And all that isnt even the worse, the racial profiling by campers and management that were happening with my nephews took the cake! I say all that to say this if your a retired white American citizen who is asleep by 8pm and doesn't get up in the middle of the night to pee or watch TV to fall asleep this is absolutely the place for you!
