Beaumont Scout Reservation, Lake Erie Council BSA Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience in Northeast Ohio with a blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities? Beaumont Scout Reservation, operated by the Lake Erie Council BSA and located at 2429 OH-45, Rock Creek, OH 44084, USA, offers a unique setting for camping and outdoor adventures. While primarily known for its scouting programs, the positive reviews suggest that its facilities and environment can be enjoyed by a wider audience seeking "campgrounds Ohio" with a focus on outdoor activities and a welcoming atmosphere.
The environment at Beaumont Scout Reservation appears to be well-maintained and conducive to an enjoyable outdoor experience. One reviewer described it as a "great camp," indicating a positive overall impression of the grounds. The presence of "beautiful" features is implied, contributing to a pleasant setting for camping and exploration. The reservation boasts a "beautiful large pond," although this feature was mentioned in a review for a different campground with a similar name, so its presence at Beaumont Scout Reservation needs further verification. However, the reviews do highlight specific environmental aspects that enhance the camping experience. The presence of "woods" surrounding the camping areas suggests opportunities for nature walks and enjoying the tranquility of a wooded setting. The mention of the camp being situated on a "ledge surrounded by the river and hog back ridge" also comes from a review for a different location, indicating potential for scenic views and possibly more rugged terrain in some areas, but this detail is not confirmed for Beaumont Scout Reservation. The proximity to the "Grand River and Mill Creek at Hogback Ridge Park within walking distance" was also mentioned in a review for another location, suggesting potential access to these natural attractions might be a feature of the general area, but not necessarily directly within Beaumont Scout Reservation. Local users should verify the specific natural features and accessibility from the reservation itself.
The services and amenities at Beaumont Scout Reservation cater to a range of camping needs and recreational activities. Based on the available reviews, key services and features include:
- Camping Facilities: The reservation offers various camping options, including traditional tent sites and "cool cabins that are over 60 years old." These cabins provide a more sheltered and potentially historic camping experience, appealing to those seeking an alternative to tent camping. The age of the cabins suggests a rustic charm and a long history of providing accommodation for campers.
- Swimming Pool: A significant highlight is the "very nice new pool," which was highly recommended by one reviewer. This modern facility offers a great way to cool off and enjoy recreational swimming during the camping season. The positive feedback indicates that the pool is a well-maintained and popular amenity.
- Showers: Shower facilities are available, although one reviewer noted that they are "a bit gross but nothing too bad." This suggests that while showers are provided, the cleanliness might be a point to consider for some users. It's advisable to be prepared with appropriate footwear and personal hygiene items.
- Hiking Trails: The mention of "tons of hiking" in one review (again, from a different location but potentially indicative of the general area or similar scout reservations) suggests that Beaumont Scout Reservation likely offers hiking trails within its property, allowing campers to explore the natural surroundings and engage in physical activity. Local users should inquire about the availability and difficulty levels of these trails.
- Access to Nearby Attractions: The potential proximity to the "Grand River and Mill Creek at Hogback Ridge Park" (based on the external review) could offer additional opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking along the river or exploring the park's features. However, the direct accessibility and distance from Beaumont Scout Reservation should be confirmed.
Given that Beaumont Scout Reservation is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, it likely offers a range of program areas and facilities that support scouting activities, which might also be accessible to other campers depending on the time of year and reservation policies. These could potentially include campfire circles, activity fields, and nature centers, but specific information on these aspects is not available in the provided reviews.
The features of Beaumont Scout Reservation are centered around its blend of natural environment and recreational facilities. The "cool cabins that are over 60 years old" offer a unique accommodation option with historical character. The "very nice new pool" is a significant draw, providing a modern and enjoyable amenity for all ages. The potential for hiking within the reservation and the possible proximity to the Grand River and Hogback Ridge Park offer opportunities for outdoor exploration and engagement with nature. The overall atmosphere seems welcoming, with one reviewer stating, "Love this place! Just went camping here for the weekend. Great place to go camping." The reservation's affiliation with the BSA suggests a family-friendly and potentially structured environment, although it's important to note that it is not exclusively for scouts based on the reviews from non-scout members of the public.
Promotional information for Beaumont Scout Reservation is not included in the provided reviews. As a scout reservation, its primary focus is often on providing camping and program facilities for scouting units. However, it may also offer camping opportunities to the general public, especially during certain times of the year or when facilities are not fully booked by scout groups. Local users interested in camping at Beaumont Scout Reservation should contact them directly via phone at (440) 563-3319 or mobile phone at +1 440-563-3319 to inquire about availability, rates, and any special offers or programs that might be open to the public. It would be beneficial to ask about family camping options, cabin rentals for non-scout groups, and any seasonal discounts or packages that might be available.
In conclusion, Beaumont Scout Reservation in Rock Creek, Ohio, offers a camping experience with a blend of historic charm through its older cabins and modern amenities like a new swimming pool. The environment appears to be conducive to outdoor enjoyment, with potential for hiking and exploration, although the specific natural features directly within the reservation need to be verified. While primarily serving the scouting community, the positive reviews from non-scout campers suggest that it can be a welcoming destination for others seeking "camping near me" in Ohio. Local users should contact the reservation directly to obtain detailed information about availability, pricing, cabin rentals, and any programs or promotions accessible to the public to determine if Beaumont Scout Reservation aligns with their camping preferences and needs.

Beaumont Scout Reservation, Lake Erie Council BSA Reviews
Great camp, but I couldn't experience enough because I fell and hurt my knee. Despite this, I was still able to enjoy the camp quite a bit. I highly recommend going to the pool. Showers are a bit gross but nothing too bad.
Aug 11, 2022 · The_E_Cole_TrainLove this place! Just went camping here for the weekend. Cool cabins that are over 60 years old. Very nice new pool as well. Great place to go camping. A must for any boyscout!
Mar 18, 2018 · Christian GGreat Scout Camp ... be prepared to do some serious walking this is a large Camp. Just had another great experience at this past weekend’s Klondike event!
Jan 29, 2018 · Merrell SheehanI have called and left 7 voicemails with multiple different people from April through July trying to get ahold of someone for an issue on their property and no one has gotten back to mex. Ridiculous.
Sep 30, 2024 · Melanie BarbisMy troop has been here for summer camp multiple years. All the campsites are quiet and spacious. The food is nothing special–mostly what you would expect from a summer camp. The only negative thing is that some of the counselors lack necessary experience for the badge they are teaching. However, there is a large selection of merit badges.
