Thousand Trails Oceana

2733 WA-109, Ocean City, WA 98569, USA

4.0
This was the worst “campground” I have ever been to. We were assigned a spot that was on top of our neighbor, we couldn’t even open our awning. Being that it’s January, there were plenty of empty sites we could have been assigned. People on meth walk up from the ocean and walk around the campground. One cracked out lady was crawling on all fours, literally crying, that she couldn’t control her large dog that was trying to attack mine. My neighbors black tank was open with no hose and leaking human feces into our site. It stunk up our trailer. We packed up a day early and got out of there. - Alex Armstrong

The environment surrounding Thousand Trails Oceana is defined by its coastal location in Ocean City, Washington. This proximity allows for a short walk to the beach, offering opportunities for scenic strolls, beachcombing, and enjoying the Pacific coastline. The grounds of the campground are noted by one reviewer as being "well kept," suggesting an effort in maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the camping area. However, it's important to consider a contrasting experience shared by another visitor who described a less positive environment, citing concerns about individuals exhibiting erratic behavior, including alleged drug use, within the campground. This highlights the potential for variability in the environment and the importance of being aware of surroundings. The review also mentioned an unpleasant incident with a neighboring camper's open and leaking black tank, underscoring the need for adherence to campground rules and consideration among campers. Despite these negative aspects, the allure of being a short distance from the ocean remains a significant environmental feature of this location.

Services at Thousand Trails campgrounds typically cater to both RV and tent campers, often including access to water hookups, electrical connections, and sewer hookups for RV sites. Restroom and shower facilities are generally available for all campers. Laundry facilities are also a common amenity at Thousand Trails locations. One particularly positive review highlighted the exceptional service provided by the staff. The reviewer recounted a situation where a slideout issue on their RV prevented them from checking out on time, and the staff went above and beyond to assist them, even during a busy Labor Day weekend. This suggests a dedicated and helpful team on-site. However, the contrasting negative review mentioned issues with site assignment, where campers were placed in very close proximity to their neighbors, limiting the use of awnings. This indicates potential variability in site sizes and spacing within the campground. It is advisable to inquire about site dimensions and layout when making reservations, especially if space is a concern.

The features of Thousand Trails Oceana are primarily centered around its location and the amenities expected of a membership-based campground. The most prominent feature is undoubtedly the short walk to the ocean, providing easy access to the beach for recreational activities and relaxation. The "community feel" mentioned by one reviewer suggests that despite the potentially close proximity of sites, there is an opportunity for social interaction among campers. This can be a positive aspect for those who enjoy meeting fellow travelers. However, the close proximity of sites, while fostering a sense of community for some, was viewed as a drawback by another camper who felt the assigned spot was too close to their neighbor. As a Thousand Trails park, membership is a key feature to consider, as access to their campgrounds typically requires a membership or a daily fee for members' guests. Potential features might also include recreational areas, though specific details are not provided in the reviews. It's recommended to check the official Thousand Trails website or contact the campground directly for a comprehensive list of available features and amenities.

Promotional information for Thousand Trails campgrounds is often tied to their membership structure. It's also worth inquiring about any daily rates for non-members or guests of members, if that is an option.

In conclusion, Thousand Trails Oceana in Ocean City, WA, offers a significant advantage with its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, making it an appealing option for those seeking 'camping near me' with coastal access. While one reviewer praised the helpful staff and the community feel, another highlighted concerns about site spacing and negative experiences with other individuals in the campground. It is recommended to contact the campground directly or consult the official Thousand Trails website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding site availability, amenities, membership details, and any current promotions, while also keeping in mind the mixed experiences reported by recent visitors.
