Twin Points Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Skiatook, Oklahoma area seeking a lakeside camping experience under the "camping near me" category, Twin Points Campground offers a location directly on Skiatook Lake. Situated at Skiatook, OK 74070, USA, this campground provides access to the recreational opportunities associated with the lake, making it a potentially attractive option for those interested in water-based activities and outdoor family fun.
According to one long-time visitor, the environment at Twin Points Campground and Skiatook Lake has been enjoyable for many years. This reviewer highlights the "beautiful" water, noting that it is less crowded during the weekdays, offering a more serene experience. The sheer size of the lake is also mentioned as a benefit, providing ample space for various water activities even when the campground is busier on weekends. The presence of a "nice easy to get your boat in the water" boat ramp is a significant advantage for boating enthusiasts looking for convenient lake access.
The campground itself is described as having a "playground full of fun things to do," making it appealing for families with children. Additionally, a "great half court basketball court" is available for those interested in playing basketball. These recreational facilities within the campground can enhance the overall camping experience, providing entertainment options for different age groups.
However, another reviewer presents a more critical perspective on Twin Points Campground. This camper points out a significant drawback: "There's no good way to get to the water and when you can, it's full - absolutely chock full - of sandstone." This suggests that accessing the lake shore can be difficult and that the shoreline itself may be rocky and uncomfortable for walking or enjoying. The need to "pick your way along the shore to avoid twisting an ankle" indicates a potentially hazardous terrain for those wanting to get close to the water.
A notable concern raised is the lack of essential amenities: "There are no trash cans in the campgrounds. Not even by/near the toilets (which also have no electricity AKA LIGHTS)." The absence of trash cans can lead to littering issues and an unhygienic environment. The lack of electricity and lights in the toilet facilities is also a significant inconvenience and potential safety hazard, especially at night.
The prevalence of "oak trees EVERYWHERE" is mentioned as a double-edged sword. While it provides "lots of firewood," it also raises concerns about "ticks" during the hot summer season, which is an important health consideration for campers, particularly those with pets or children.
Overcrowding appears to be another significant issue at Twin Points Campground. The reviewer states, "And when this place is FULL, it's ridiculously full. It's hard to drive through with a big truck (we have an F250) or camper with all the cars parked alongside the road next to the campsites." This suggests that during peak times, the campground can become very congested, making navigation difficult, especially for larger vehicles. The limited space and roadside parking can also detract from the overall camping experience.
Furthermore, concerns about noise levels and the lack of enforcement of quiet hours are raised: "People get loud, after quiet time hours (I'm talking chopping wood and blaring music at 3am) and no one enforces anything." This lack of regulation can lead to disturbances and impact the sleep and relaxation of other campers.
On a more positive note, the reviewer mentions that "The pads are mostly level and that's nice." Level campsite pads are indeed a desirable feature, contributing to a more comfortable setup for tents and RVs. However, a potential inconvenience is also noted: "You have to share water with your neighbor, so bring a splitter for the spigot!" This shared water access might require extra equipment and coordination with neighboring campers.
The "children's park is really nice, actually. Big and pretty cool" is another positive aspect highlighted, reinforcing its appeal to families. The ability to "walk around the park area, as many others did, to get some steps in" suggests that the campground offers some space for leisurely strolls and light exercise.
Despite some positive aspects like the playground and lake access (albeit potentially difficult), the overall sentiment of the more critical review is negative, stating, "But.. we won't come back. Just too cramped and no easy access to the water. Seems there are some easy fixes to make it better, but as it is now, there are better places to camp with my family." This suggests that while Twin Points Campground might have some appealing features, significant drawbacks regarding water access, amenities, crowding, and noise detract from the overall experience for some visitors.

In conclusion, Twin Points Campground near Skiatook Lake offers a lakeside location with amenities such as a playground and a boat ramp, which may appeal to families and boating enthusiasts in the local area. However, potential visitors should be aware of reported issues including difficult access to a rocky shoreline, the absence of trash cans and lights in the toilets, potential overcrowding, and noise disturbances. While some aspects like level campsite pads and a nice children's park are appreciated, the negative feedback regarding essential amenities and the overall camping experience should be carefully considered by local users when deciding on a "camping near me" option. It is recommended to contact the campground directly for the most up-to-date information and to potentially inquire about the measures being taken to address the concerns raised in the reviews.

Twin Points Campground Reviews
I have been going to this lake for almost 15 years and I have loved every single minute I was there, the playground is full of fun things to do, they have a great half court basketball court, the water is beautiful and not that full during the week days, the weekends are pretty busy but the lake is so big that there is plenty of room for everyone, the boat ramp is nice easy to get your boat in the water, I will DEFINITELY be coming here every single year and having an amazing time every time!

May 23, 2024 · Roxy R.Beautiful campsite! Very clean and quiet! Beautiful views; that was a nice surprise! Staff there are very helpful and courteous; she changed my campsite to a better spot without me even asking, and it was the most gorgeous view (campsite 23 if you’re curious). Make sure to bring a super long hose; some neighbors will steal your spicket if it’s closer (because they didn’t bring a long hose either). Each site has a enclosed fire pit, charcoal grill, work table and picnic table. The main bathroom/shower house was clean and had hot showers. The other bathrooms that are closer to the campsite are basically modern outhouses with no electricity, just fyi (I had a ball laughing at my kids during the whole experience; at the end of the weekend it was an old hat to ‘em). There are cute little trails you can take down to the lake to fish and explore. This was the best camping experience I’ve ever had to be honest, we really enjoyed our stay there and will be back for sure!!
Oct 24, 2022 · Miranda MataVery nice clean camping areas, playgrounds, bathroom facilities etcetera. Large individual campsites with closed fire pits, electric and water hookup, table and Grill. The people overseeing the campground were very friendly in courteous. I've never been here, I usually go to tall Chief Cove but I figured I would give this place a whirl. And I am glad I did. Me and my family had a great time and I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for someplace new to go.
Sep 12, 2021 · Les MyrickThis is always a beautiful campground with 50 amp service. Shower houses are clean. Volunteers are so friendly here! I wish checkout time was back to original times and later.
