Vee Hollow Campground Introduce
For local adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts in search of "camping near me" in the Townsend, Tennessee area, Vee Hollow Campground, situated at 8429 TN-73, Townsend, TN 37882, USA, presents itself as a campground offering both RV campsites and cabins. To provide a comprehensive and objective introduction for local users, it is crucial to consider the varying experiences reported by recent visitors, particularly regarding the different types of accommodations available.
When browsing the "camping near me" category, users often seek a variety of lodging options, ranging from traditional tent sites to more comfortable cabins and full-service RV hookups. Vee Hollow Campground appears to cater to this spectrum, offering both campsites with full hookups and cabin rentals. However, the customer reviews provide distinctly different perspectives on these two types of accommodations, which local users should carefully consider.
One positive review specifically highlights the experience of staying at a "riverfront full hook up campsite for one week in April." This camper reported that the essential utilities – electric, water, and sewer hookups – "all worked well," indicating a reliable infrastructure for RV travelers. Furthermore, the campsites are described as "well spaced and nice," suggesting a degree of privacy and a pleasant environment for setting up camp. A significant highlight for this reviewer was the experience of "listening to the river behind us," emphasizing the scenic and tranquil environment afforded by the riverfront locations. This positive feedback suggests that for those with RVs seeking full hookup sites and a peaceful, riverside setting, Vee Hollow Campground could be a worthwhile option within the "camping near me" category.
In stark contrast, another review strongly advises against renting the cabins at Vee Hollow Campground. This reviewer unequivocally states, "Do not rent the cabins they are absolutely horrible and are smelly." This is a significant piece of feedback that local users considering cabin rentals should take very seriously. The strong negative language suggests potentially severe issues with the condition and cleanliness of the cabins, which could lead to a very unpleasant stay. Given this feedback, it would be prudent for local users specifically searching for "camping near me" with cabin options to explore alternative campgrounds in the area unless further positive information about the cabins at Vee Hollow becomes available.
Beyond the specific feedback on campsites and cabins, the second reviewer also commented on the campground's bathhouse facilities. They described it as a "very small bath house!" and noted that the "showers are hardly big enough to turn around in." This information is relevant for all campers, whether staying in an RV or a tent (if tent sites are available, though not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews). For RVers who prefer using campground facilities over their onboard amenities, and for tent campers who rely entirely on the bathhouse, the small size and potentially cramped showers could be a significant drawback. This is an important factor for local users to consider based on their personal preferences and camping style when looking at "camping near me" options.
The second reviewer concludes with the statement, "Mist likely would not cone back!" (presumably meaning "most likely would not come back!"), indicating a highly negative overall experience, primarily driven by the issues with the cabins and the inadequate bathhouse facilities. This sentiment underscores the importance of considering both positive and negative feedback when evaluating Vee Hollow Campground as a potential "camping near me" destination.
Based on the limited information provided, it is challenging to fully assess the environment and other services and features of Vee Hollow Campground. The positive review of the riverfront campsites suggests a potentially scenic and well-maintained area for RV camping. The sound of the river is a significant environmental benefit mentioned by this camper, contributing to a relaxing and natural ambiance. The spacing between sites is also noted as "nice," implying a degree of privacy and comfort for RV setups.
However, the strong negative comments about the cabins and the bathhouse paint a less favorable picture of other aspects of the campground. The "smelly" and "horrible" description of the cabins suggests potential issues with cleanliness, maintenance, or age. The "very small bath house" with undersized showers indicates a potential limitation in the campground's communal facilities, which could impact the overall comfort and convenience for guests not staying in fully self-contained RVs.
Without further information, it is difficult to detail other services or features that Vee Hollow Campground might offer. Common campground amenities can include laundry facilities, a camp store, recreational areas (like playgrounds or hiking trails), and potentially Wi-Fi access. The absence of such mentions in the provided reviews does not necessarily mean they are not available, but local users might need to inquire directly to ascertain the full range of services and features offered.
Similarly, there is no promotional information provided in the given data. Local users interested in Vee Hollow Campground, particularly for RV camping, may want to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers – (865) 448-6061 or mobile +1 865-448-6061 – to inquire about availability, pricing, and any current specials or discounts. Given the negative feedback on the cabins, it would be especially important to get detailed information and potentially recent photos if considering that type of accommodation.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in Townsend, TN, Vee Hollow Campground appears to offer a potentially positive experience for RV campers seeking full hookup, riverfront sites that are well-spaced. The sound of the river is a notable environmental benefit. However, there are significant concerns raised about the campground's cabins, which are described as "horrible" and "smelly," and the bathhouse, which is noted as being very small with cramped showers. Therefore, local users should carefully weigh these contrasting reports based on their specific accommodation needs and preferences. If considering RV camping, Vee Hollow might be a viable option, but further investigation and perhaps direct communication with the campground are strongly recommended, especially if cabin rentals are of interest.

Vee Hollow Campground Reviews
We stayed in a riverfront full hook up campsite for one week in April. Electric, water and sewer hook ups all worked well. The sites are well spaced and nice. Listening to the river behind us was fantastic. We will be back!
Apr 23, 2025 · David ElmerThis is a camp ground with cabins, not a hotel. Do not rent the cabins they are absolutely horrible and are smelly. Very small bath house! Showers are hardly big enough to turn around in. Mist likely would not cone back!
Apr 25, 2025 · J ManI have camped all over America. This campground was outstanding. Yes, rustic. But just a beautiful setting. The washers/dryers and the laundry room were outstanding. Clean. The lots to camp on are gravel but there are concrete pads and picnic tables at each site. I had no trouble getting into my spot. Everything hooked up and working. The staff have been very helpful. You call and they answer. This morning I called. No answer so I hung up. Within one minute, I received a call back. Will stay here again. Highly recommend.
Apr 13, 2024 · P WCame to Townsend to tube with family. Campsite was very tight together. narrow road. nightmare to back up even a 21 feet travel trailer. Then general manager came out wanting to charge my wife $4 extra a day because we had a second vehicle. Also wanted to charge extras a day for kids in my RV. Front office was reachable only by phone. Pool was being built or renovated. undrained rainwater at construction site created a mosquito nightmare. Lost of run-down long time tenants. Felt like I was living in trailer park instead of on RV vacation. Internet was super super slow and spotty. Only good thing was it was avail July 4th. Will plan further in advance next time. You get want you paid for.
Jul 06, 2024 · Kou-wei ChiuThis was our first RV stay at Vee Hollow Campground and overall it was a good experience. We based our plan to stay there on the fact that their website stated they had a pool. Upon arrival we discovered this was not the case, the pool was in early stages of construction. When I questioned why this was on their website, the camp host stated it "couldnt be removed". Now anyone that can spell website construction understands this isnt true, and they could easily say the pool was under construction. However, it wasnt a total game changer as we had already paid and it was to late to change sites. Another issue was the fact that while we understood only one vehicle was allowed on site with RV, we knew we had to park our 2nd vehicle at another location. What was never mentioned on the website is in order to park your 2nd vehicle on a grass lot at the front of the campground, their is a $ 4.00 charge. And as you can see from the pics attached, there were multiple sites that had more than 1 vehicle parked on the lot. Again no big deal, and not complaining about that. One issue we did have is the fact that we had our two grandkids with us, one was 5 and the other 11. The 11 yr old was an additional 23.00 charge. (anyone over age of 6) Again, this charge was never mentioned on the website. The campground was located on the banks of the little river, however in order to reach the river, one must walk across an occupied campsite, which generally isnt acceptable. We were advised there are plans to upgrade the electrical lines (which we had no issues with and all worked properly). The price to stay was reasonable and hookups worked well. For 20.00 per week, we received streaming internet and it worked flawlessly. No issues with internet access at all. Would we stay again, once the pool was operational,...maybe.....would we recommend to others...yes but with explanations. Overall, a pleasant experience, just wish they were more upfront on the website about requirements at the campground.
