Whippoorwill Lake Camp Inc Introduce
For local residents in the Marble Hill, Missouri area searching for "camping near me" with a focus on lakeside recreation, Whippoorwill Lake Camp Inc, located at 570 RR 2, Marble Hill, MO 63764, USA, offers a unique setting centered around a good-sized lake suitable for swimming. Based on customer reviews, this campground has been a local favorite for many years, appreciated for its beauty and recreational opportunities. If you're looking for "camping near me" with the added appeal of a lake for swimming and water activities, Whippoorwill Lake Camp might be worth considering, keeping in mind some recent changes in its offerings.
The environment at Whippoorwill Lake Camp Inc is clearly a significant draw, described as a "beautiful place" by a long-time visitor. The central feature is Whippoorwill Lake, which is noted to be of a "good size" for swimming. This makes the campground particularly appealing for locals looking to cool off and enjoy water-based activities during the warmer months. The presence of the lake creates a natural focal point for relaxation and recreation. Additionally, one reviewer mentioned it being a "nice place to hang out for the day & swim," further emphasizing the lake's suitability for day trips focused on swimming.
Beyond the lake, the campground's environment also includes natural elements that contribute to its appeal. While specific details about wooded areas or hiking trails within the campground are limited, the overall sentiment from reviewers suggests a pleasant outdoor setting. The upgraded bathrooms are specifically mentioned as "very nice," indicating an effort to improve the comfort and convenience of the facilities for visitors.
In terms of services, Whippoorwill Lake Camp Inc offers several amenities, though some have seen recent changes. Swimming is a primary activity, although a significant change to note is that swimming is now only available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This reduced availability might impact those planning weekday visits specifically for swimming. The campground also previously offered cabin rentals on a weekend basis. However, this policy has changed, and cabins are now only available for yearly rentals. This is a crucial piece of information for local users who may have enjoyed weekend cabin stays in the past, as it might no longer be a feasible option for many seeking short-term accommodation.
For tent campers, it's important to be aware that the campsites do not have grills provided, so bringing your own grill is essential if you plan on cooking at your site. This is a practical detail for those considering tent camping at Whippoorwill Lake Camp. The campground does have a store with a "good selection of items" for those who may have forgotten essential supplies. However, as is typical with campground stores, be prepared to pay a premium for the convenience of not having to travel into town for these items.
A significant feature of Whippoorwill Lake Camp Inc is the availability of water toy rentals. The pricing for these rentals is described as "really good," and the rental periods range from half an hour up to six hours. The variety of watercraft available for rent is also noteworthy, including paddle boats and fishing boats. This feature adds considerable recreational value to the campground, allowing visitors to further enjoy the lake beyond just swimming.
Promotional information is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. The fair pricing mentioned for the overall experience suggests that Whippoorwill Lake Camp aims to offer good value for the amenities and environment provided. The water toy rentals being "really good on pricing" can be considered a promotional point for those interested in lake activities. However, there are no specific mentions of seasonal discounts, package deals, or other typical promotional offers in the reviews provided. Local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly to inquire about current rates and any potential promotions, especially given the recent changes in cabin rental policies and swimming availability.
In summary, Whippoorwill Lake Camp Inc in Marble Hill, MO, offers a beautiful lakeside environment that has been enjoyed by locals for many years, primarily for swimming. The campground features upgraded bathrooms and a store with a good selection of necessities (at a premium). A significant draw is the reasonably priced water toy rentals, including paddle boats and fishing boats. However, potential visitors should be aware of the current limitations: swimming is only available Friday through Sunday, and cabin rentals are now exclusively for yearly terms, which may not suit many local users seeking weekend getaways. Tent campers will need to bring their own grills. Despite these changes, the core appeal of the lake and the positive experiences of long-time visitors suggest that Whippoorwill Lake Camp remains a recommendable "camping near me" option for those prioritizing a lakeside setting and water activities, provided the current availability and rental policies align with their needs. Contacting the campground directly at (573) 238-3995 or +1 573-238-3995 will provide the most up-to-date information for planning your visit.

Whippoorwill Lake Camp Inc Reviews
I've been coming here for over 15 years. Nice place to hang out for the day & swim! Unfortunately now theyre only open for swimming Fri-Sun. I used to rent the cabins too but you can only rent those yearly now instead of for the weekend, which really sucks (most people i know can't afford that)! The bathrooms have been upgraded, which is very nice! Such a beautiful place. Would definitely recommend!
Jun 25, 2024 · Alea BelmasThe lake is a good size if your coming for swimming. If you are tent camping you'll definitely want to bring a grill, they have none at the camp sites. Over all the pricing is fair for what you get. The store does have good selection of items if you forget something but you'll pay for the convenience of not having to drive into town. The water toy rentals are really good on pricing and you may rent them form a half hour up to 6 hours and include paddle boats up to fishing boats.
Jun 22, 2022 · Rafael McAnallySet reservation for 10/6 & 10/7 On 9/22, plans changed and we we're not able to make the trip so I canceled not even 24 hours later on 9/23. No refund whatsoever!!!!! They will give you a "credit" towards a future trip which is worthless when you don't plan on making another trip. I will be fighting this with my credit card company, keeping all of someone's money is fraud, plain and simple!!!! We have stayed at many campgrounds and have never encountered something so shady!
