White Lake Campground

I was hesitant about getting a camper and boat slip here based on some people's reviews. Now that I've been here for a few months I feel as if I can finally write a review. Most of the low ratings I don't really believe any merit to them. This isn't a public campground, it's a seasonal deal. Yes there are older campers here but they've probably been here before I was born. It is common with a seasonal site that they want you to have a newer camper. So don't be surprised if your 20 year old camper that looks new is rejected from a seasonal campground. The boat slips on white lake has a waiting list higher than I can count. In the campground the rest of the slips are on the canal. Circling back to how seasonal slips don't normally allow old boats/campers. An individual left a poor rating after his boat sank. Idk the story behind that but when he went out and bought a brand new pontoon. His negative review was mentioning about how large it was and blah blah blah. Here's some things things to know about the canal. It's not very wide. So if he got a really long pontoon he's going to be sticking way out into the canal. Definitely not cool/considerate to others. There are parallel parking docks for longer boats so he probably had to move to one of those and idk if there's a price difference but from his awful review from lack of understanding, it sounds like there is a price difference. When I was purchasing my slips I don't remember the manager saying there was. The canal is easy enough to get out to the lake if you're an experienced boater. Another thing to note about this individuals boat experience and it being to big. The second bridge you have to go under, most large pontoons can't go under it. I have a 20' sea ray and I have to trim all the way up in the canal, and the second bridge I actually have to go into trailer up a bit for a quick second. The property manager is Judy and she is very kind and great to chat with. She took me on a tour in her golf cart and explained everything to me. Even told me about the campers on the sites. The bathrooms definitely give you an old up north feeling. There's a key deposit fee for using the bathrooms with the showers. There is a rustic outdoor bathroom that's available as well and I don't think that required a key deposit fee. There's power and water on the sites. I've hooked up a small water filtration system and the water seems good enough to use. Without testing it I haven't drank it. I used it once for making coffee and brush my teeth with it. It tasted fine, but without testing take this info very lightly. Showering is good to go as well. There are full hookup sites on the other side but you pay for the electric bill. A dump site for black and grey is on grounds. Dumpster is on grounds for trash. Overall I'm very happy with the campsite and boat slip. They allowed me to add bumpers and rails to my dock. You do have to maintain your grass. That's very typical with campsite slips. There was no fire pit on my site but I was able to add a nice pit. Everyone I've met at the campground so far have been awesome. This is a campground that kinda flys by the rules of just don't be a jerk or a Karen (sorry Karens). If it's a holiday weekend people will be outside talking and playing music till pretty late. It's nothing crazy to where you can't go to sleep with a fan on in the camper. It's generally very quiet here. Another reason of why it's quite here is dogs are not allowed. We all love the fur children but there's always that one dog that ruins it for everyone. So I get that rule. This is honestly a hidden gem. I'm surprised there's not a waiting list to get in here. White Lake Campground Introduce

Looking for "camping near me" in a unique setting that combines lakeside camping with boating opportunities? White Lake Campground, located in White Lake, MI 48383, USA, might be the hidden gem you've been searching for. You can reach them at (248) 670-0796 or their mobile number, +1 248-670-0796. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground offers a distinct seasonal experience with a strong emphasis on lake access and a community feel.

The environment of White Lake Campground is primarily defined by its proximity to White Lake itself. This location in Michigan suggests a setting surrounded by natural beauty, likely with mature trees providing shade and a classic "up north" feel, as mentioned by one reviewer. The presence of boat slips, both on White Lake and a connecting canal, underscores the importance of the water environment to this campground. Imagine having your camper or tent site within easy reach of the lake, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, and enjoying waterfront views.

It's important to note, as highlighted in a detailed review, that White Lake Campground operates primarily as a seasonal campground, not a public, transient one. This means that sites are typically rented for an entire season. This characteristic shapes some of its features and rules. For those seeking a longer-term camping experience with the benefit of lake access, this could be ideal.

In terms of services and features, we can gather the following from the customer feedback:

  • Boat Slips: A significant feature is the availability of boat slips on White Lake (with a noted waiting list) and along a canal connected to the lake. This makes it a prime location for those who enjoy boating. Be aware that there might be considerations regarding the size of boats, particularly in relation to the canal's width and the clearance under a bridge. Parallel parking docks are available for longer boats.
  • Campsites with Amenities: The campsites offer power and water hookups. Some sites on the "other side" reportedly have full hookups where the camper pays for electricity usage. A dump site for black and grey water is available on the grounds, as is a dumpster for trash.
  • Bathroom Facilities: There are older-style bathrooms that provide an "up north feeling," with a key deposit fee for using the showers. A rustic outdoor bathroom is also available, possibly without a key deposit.
  • Community Atmosphere: One reviewer describes the community as generally quiet and friendly, with a "don't be a jerk" approach to rules. During holiday weekends, some noise and socializing until later in the evening can be expected. Notably, dogs are not allowed at the campground.
  • Site Customization: Campers are generally allowed to add personal touches to their sites, such as bumpers and rails to docks and fire pits (if not already present), with the expectation of maintaining their grass.

One reviewer shared a mixed experience, noting a great first year followed by issues related to a boat sinking and communication regarding a replacement boat. This feedback highlights the importance of clear communication and customer service. However, another detailed review paints a more positive picture of the campground and its management, specifically mentioning the kindness and helpfulness of the property manager, Judy, who provides tours and information.

For local users looking for "camping near me" with a strong emphasis on lake life, White Lake Campground presents a unique opportunity, particularly for those interested in a seasonal arrangement that includes a boat slip. The ability to camp and have your boat readily accessible on White Lake is a significant draw. However, prospective campers should be aware of the seasonal nature and the potential considerations regarding boat size and campground rules.

There is no explicit promotional information in the provided text. However, the detailed positive review acts as an indirect endorsement, highlighting the hidden gem aspect of the campground and the rarity of finding a place in Oakland County that combines camping and boating so conveniently. To summarize, White Lake Campground in White Lake, Michigan, offers a seasonal camping experience centered around White Lake and boating. Key features include boat slips on the lake and canal, campsites with water and power (some with full hookups), older-style bathroom facilities, and a generally friendly community atmosphere.
