Whitehouse Campground Introduce
For local users in the Butte, Montana area and those seeking a more secluded camping experience while searching for "camping near me," Whitehouse Campground, situated along Forest Road 82 near Butte, offers a potential escape into nature. The customer reviews, though brief, provide valuable insights into the campground's environment, basic amenities, and surrounding recreational opportunities, highlighting its appeal for those looking for an "off the grid" experience.
The environment surrounding Whitehouse Campground is described as "Beautiful," with one reviewer specifically mentioning a rewarding hike up "White house" (likely a local landmark or trail associated with the area). The fact that the area was deemed "worth going back" suggests a landscape rich in natural beauty, potentially featuring forests, mountains, or scenic overlooks. Being located along Forest Road 82 indicates that the campground is likely situated within or adjacent to a national forest or similar public land, characterized by natural, often undeveloped surroundings. This type of environment typically offers opportunities for immersing oneself in nature, enjoying fresh air, and experiencing the tranquility of a less developed area. The potential for hiking, as mentioned in one review, further suggests a landscape conducive to outdoor exploration and enjoying scenic vistas.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide limited but important information. One reviewer notes the presence of a "concrete vault toilet," which indicates a basic but essential sanitation facility. The phrase "off the grid" strongly suggests that the campground does not offer amenities such as electrical hookups, running water at individual campsites, or potentially even easily accessible potable water sources. This points towards a more primitive or rustic camping experience, where campers are expected to be self-sufficient in terms of water, power, and waste disposal beyond the provided toilet facility. The lack of mention of picnic tables or fire rings might also imply that these are either not consistently available or that campers should come prepared. The phone numbers provided, (406) 494-2147 and +1 406-494-2147, serve as direct contact points for local users to inquire about the specific services and features available at Whitehouse Campground, as well as any regulations or recommendations for camping in the area.
The features of Whitehouse Campground seem to be centered around its natural setting and its appeal to those seeking a more basic and secluded camping experience. The proximity to "White house" and the availability of a "Beautiful" hiking trail are significant draws for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy exploring the natural landscape on foot. The "off the grid" nature of the campground can be a major feature for those looking to disconnect from modern conveniences and immerse themselves in a more natural environment. The presence of a concrete vault toilet, while basic, provides a necessary amenity that distinguishes it from true dispersed camping. The location along Forest Road 82 suggests potential access to other recreational opportunities within the surrounding forest, such as wildlife viewing, nature photography, or possibly other trails. For local users seeking a less developed campground where the focus is on the natural environment and a more self-reliant camping style, Whitehouse Campground appears to offer these features.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Whitehouse Campground in the provided text. However, the positive comments about the beauty of the area and the suitability for camping act as implicit endorsements. For local users interested in learning more, contacting the provided phone numbers would be the best way to obtain information that might be considered promotional, such as seasonal availability, potential fees (if any, for using a US Forest Service campground), and any specific regulations or recommendations for camping in the area, especially given its "off the grid" nature. They could also inquire about the best times to visit for hiking and enjoying the scenery. Additionally, since it's located on a Forest Road, reaching out to the local US Forest Service office in the Butte area might provide further details about Whitehouse Campground and other camping opportunities in the surrounding national forest lands. Online searches using the campground name and location might also yield additional information from camping websites or forums where other users share their experiences and any updates.
In conclusion, Whitehouse Campground near Butte, Montana, offers local users a chance to experience a more rustic and "off the grid" camping adventure. Its beautiful natural environment, as highlighted by the positive hiking experience, and the basic amenity of a concrete vault toilet suggest a focus on nature and self-sufficiency. The location along Forest Road 82 likely provides access to further outdoor recreational opportunities within the surrounding national forest. For local residents searching for "camping near me" that prioritizes a natural setting and a less developed experience, and who are comfortable with a more self-reliant camping style, Whitehouse Campground, reachable at (406) 494-2147, is a potential destination worth exploring further through direct inquiry with the US Forest Service or online resources.

Whitehouse Campground Reviews
My Son, Brother in-law and I went for a hike up White house... It was Beautiful and the area worth going back...
Apr 09, 2025 · ThomasGreat place to camp, concrete vault toilet, off the grid.
Jul 20, 2020 · Rande FarrowWe were there Wednesday through Saturday. The one & only outhouse had no TP. The road is in serious need of repair. Way outta control with napweed everywhere. I have spent every year there for the past 15 years. But we are sadly choosing to not go there again. It just seems as years have come & gone no one has maintained it beauty or the out house. We went to Butte to get TO pine-sol a mop & air-freshner to allow ourselves to go potty. TOTALLY SAD.
Aug 21, 2020 · Ronnie WilkinsonBeautiful but overrun with ATVers with no respect for anyone else. Kids doing loops on 4wheelers and loud dirt bikes through the campground all day long. Zero peace and quiet. Too bad.
Jul 12, 2020 · Ben MaloufI have stayed here a couple times, the location is nice near the creek, but it's a white trash haven. People constantly riding ATVs around in circles near your camp and firing off weapons at all hours of the night. I won't stay there again and I would urge you to pick another location
