Willowemoc Campgrounds Introduce
If you are searching for "camping near me" in the Livingston Manor, New York area, Willowemoc Campgrounds, located at 30 Willowemoc Rd, Livingston Manor, NY 12758, USA, presents itself as an option. You can reach them at (845) 668-4570 or +1 845-668-4570 for inquiries. However, it is crucial for potential local users to be aware of recent feedback regarding the campground's environment, services, and features before making a decision.
Recent reviews from individuals who have stayed at Willowemoc Campgrounds indicate a significant shift in the overall experience following a change in ownership. Several long-term visitors have expressed considerable dissatisfaction with the current state of the campground, citing a decline in the quality of service and a less welcoming environment compared to previous years.
One recurring concern revolves around the perceived change in the campground's atmosphere. According to a detailed account from a former long-term visitor, there have been instances of staff behavior that created a "challenging atmosphere," particularly for families. This included allegations of rudeness and disrespectful comments directed towards a non-speaking autistic child. The reviewer recounted a specific instance where staff members allegedly expressed discomfort at the thought of their daughter being the first person someone sees upon entering the campground. This experience stands in stark contrast to the welcoming environment the family had enjoyed under previous ownership.
Furthermore, this family, with deep roots at Willowemoc Campgrounds spanning generations, expressed disappointment at feeling unwelcome despite their daughter's positive growth and progress during their time there. They ultimately felt that they were deemed "not the 'right fit'" for the campground, highlighting potential inclusivity concerns for prospective visitors.
In addition to the reported negative shift in the social environment, reviewers have also raised concerns regarding the physical condition and amenities of Willowemoc Campgrounds. One account mentions a "lack of amenities and safety issues with the roads and bridges," contributing to a concerning overall experience. The reviewer stated that attempts to address these issues with the management resulted in the revocation of their contract rather than a constructive dialogue or resolution.
Another review echoes the sentiment of declining quality alongside increasing costs. This former seasonal tenant reported a $700 price increase for the seasonal rate following the change in ownership. Additionally, the opening of the pool was delayed until July 4, 2024, a significant difference from the traditional Memorial Day Weekend opening. The basketball court was also reportedly not yet functional at the time of the review. Despite these reductions in service and amenities, the reviewer claims that another $900 price increase was being proposed. This individual expressed feelings of being taken advantage of and noted that "many families who have been at Willowemoc for decades have permanently left the campgrounds," suggesting a broader trend of dissatisfaction among long-term patrons.
The same reviewer further alleges a lack of transparency regarding occupancy, claiming that management falsely stated a waiting list for spots while over 20 sites remained open. Concerns were also raised about inconsistent enforcement of payment deadlines and the perceived disparity between the campground's demands on tenants and the level of service provided, citing the delayed pool opening as a prime example. Finally, this review included a serious allegation regarding the potential tampering with propane tanks of seasonal tenants during the off-season, resulting in empty tanks upon their return.
Given these recent and detailed negative reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" should approach Willowemoc Campgrounds with caution. While the physical location in Livingston Manor, NY, may still offer natural appeal, the reported decline in service quality, potential safety concerns, and issues with management responsiveness are significant factors to consider. The apparent lack of investment in amenities, coupled with price increases, as described by former patrons, may not represent good value for potential campers.
It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and perspectives. However, the consistency and severity of the issues raised, particularly concerning the treatment of guests and the state of the facilities, warrant careful consideration. Potential local users are strongly advised to conduct further research, seek more recent feedback if available, and potentially contact Willowemoc Campgrounds directly to inquire about the current conditions, services, and management policies before making a reservation.
For those in the "camping near me" category seeking alternative options in the Livingston Manor area, exploring other campgrounds with more positive recent reviews and a reputation for अच्छी customer service and well-maintained facilities might be a prudent approach. The experiences shared by former visitors of Willowemoc Campgrounds highlight the importance of thorough research to ensure a satisfactory and enjoyable camping experience.
At this time, based on the provided information, there are no positive attributes or promotional details available for Willowemoc Campgrounds. The recent feedback paints a concerning picture that potential local users should be aware of when considering their "camping near me" options. It is recommended to look for campgrounds that demonstrate a commitment to guest satisfaction, maintain their facilities adequately, and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.

Willowemoc Campgrounds Reviews
Since the change in ownership, we have witnessed a significant decline in the quality of service and the overall environment. The recent price increases, coupled with the behavior of some staff members, have created a challenging atmosphere for families like ours. We have encountered instances of rudeness and comments that felt disrespectful, particularly towards our non-speaking autistic daughter. It was disheartening to overhear staff express that they wouldn’t want our daughter to be the first thing someone sees upon entering the campground. This was not only hurtful but completely contrary to the welcoming environment we experienced with the prior owners. Our family, which includes a Puerto Rican background, has cherished this campground for generations. My husband grew up visiting Willowemoc, and with our daughter we were continuing that legacy. However, the current situation is unacceptable. Despite our daughter's remarkable growth and progress during our time there, it seems we have been deemed not the "right fit" for the campground.Additionally, the lack of amenities and safety issues with the roads and bridges have made our experience even more concerning. We have sought to address these matters with management, but our complaints were met with the revocation of our contract instead of a constructive response. It is disappointing to see the campground in its current state, especially with so many open sites available. We have now relocated to another campground that, while more expensive, offers exceptional amenities, caring staff, and well-maintained grounds. If there was a desire to restore Willowemoc’s reputation and attract families, it would benefit from a more inclusive and respectful approach to community feedback rather than retaliating against those who share their concerns.
Dec 05, 2024 · nicole johnsonWith the new management/owner seasonal price was raised $700. Pool was opened by July 4, 2024 instead of Memorial Day Weekend. Basketball court isn't up yet as well. And now they want to raise the price up again another $900? You should be ashamed of yourselves! Many families who have been at Willowemoc for decades have permanently left the campgrounds. You guys even lie and tell your tenants that you have a list of people/families waiting for a spot when there are more than 20 spots open (and counting). This is the way you guys do business?! You demand more and demand for payments to be on time (God forbid we are an hour late on a payment) and yet you expect us to give you until the July 4th to open the pool to our children? And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Many tenants had their propane tanks filled before the end of the season last year and came back this season to empty tanks this year. Service is horrible across the board. Don't even let me get started with the lady in the front.......
Aug 03, 2024 · bruce baizaThis is our home away from home for the last 9 years! Such a great community here! Great People! LGBTQ+ Friendly Environment! I love this place! New owners recently took over. Looking forward to the upgrades/events they offer for this season!
May 14, 2024 · Gregory MitchellGo camping here, every summer, for the last 10 years. This was my family’s thing to do, which was always affordable and fun. In the last year, the owners changed. I was there this weekend for 4th of July celebrations-as I’ve been every year for the last 10 years- and was extremely disappointed in the treatment I received from the NEW owners.Understandably, the new owners have created new rules. However, these “new rules” seem to only be applicable when Hispanic/latino. Shameful.
Jul 08, 2024 · Katherine GalvanWe stayed in T06 wooded site. This site provided a very private feel. The campsite was well equipped with bathrooms in walking distance, showers near the vegetal store. There is a nice size pool, volley ball net. This place is a RV abd tent site. The tent sites are in a separate area which I liked.Dispite what some other reviews mentioned about unmarked sites we did not have that experience. We arrived after closing in the dark abd were able to get to our site which was clearly marked. My family, dogs and girls loved this place. This place gave the perfect next step for my young girls to enjoy tent camping. All the convenience of a commercial place with the privacy of campgrounds in the sticks. Clean facilities. Don't hesitate you will not be disappointed.
