Woodward Campground Introduce
For local users in the Weston, Oregon area searching for "camping near me," Woodward Campground, located off OR-204, offers a unique and appealing camping experience characterized by spacious and relatively private campsites nestled within a beautiful forest setting. Situated in contrast to the surrounding dry and somewhat barren landscape of wheat fields, Woodward Campground provides a welcome oasis of trees and natural beauty. The positive reviews from recent visitors highlight the friendly and helpful camp host, the availability of potable water and trash disposal, and the overall tranquil atmosphere, while also noting the presence of mosquitoes and the absence of showers.
Environment and Ambiance:
Woodward Campground stands out for its "beautiful forest camping" environment. This suggests a setting with ample trees, providing shade, a sense of enclosure, and a more immersive natural experience compared to open campgrounds. The contrast with the surrounding "dry, somewhat barren landscape of wheat fields" makes Woodward Campground a particularly attractive destination for those seeking a green and wooded retreat. The presence of a forest environment often implies opportunities for nature walks, bird watching, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the woodland.
A significant advantage highlighted by a reviewer is that "most campsites are spacey and distant from each other," offering a greater degree of privacy compared to campgrounds where sites are closely packed. This spacing allows campers to feel more secluded and enjoy their own natural area without being in close proximity to neighboring campsites. The tranquility of the forest setting, combined with the spaciousness of the sites, contributes to a peaceful and relaxing ambiance.
One of the notable aspects of the environment, however, is the presence of a significant mosquito population. The reviewer strongly advises to "carry EXTRA bug spray," indicating that mosquitoes can be quite prevalent, especially during certain times of the year. Campers planning a visit should be well-prepared with insect repellent and appropriate clothing to mitigate this issue.
Adding to the natural charm of the campground is the possibility of wildlife sightings. One visitor reported seeing deer come through "super early in the morning," offering a delightful opportunity to observe local fauna in their natural habitat. This suggests that the surrounding forest supports wildlife, enhancing the overall appeal for nature enthusiasts.
Services and Amenities:
Woodward Campground offers several essential services and amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. A significant positive is the availability of "potable water," a crucial amenity for drinking, cooking, and hygiene. The presence of "dumpsters for your trash" is also a valuable convenience, allowing campers to dispose of their waste properly and helping to keep the campground clean.
Restroom facilities are provided in the form of "vault toilets." While vault toilets are a common feature in many campgrounds, they are typically more basic than flush toilets and do not offer running water for handwashing within the unit. Campers should be prepared for this type of facility and may want to bring hand sanitizer.
A notable absence is that of showers. One reviewer explicitly mentioned, "no showers," and considered this the only drawback preventing a 5-star rating. This is an important factor for campers who value showering facilities, especially for longer stays. Visitors to Woodward Campground will need to plan accordingly for their personal hygiene needs, perhaps utilizing portable camping showers or relying on other methods.
A standout service at Woodward Campground is the exceptional camp host. Described as "the sweetest" and "super friendly," the host is praised for providing "important info about the site" and doing a "great job of maintaining the campsites." The reviewer emphasizes that the host seems to genuinely enjoy their work and takes pride in it, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. This positive interaction with the camp host significantly enhances the overall camping experience.

Woodward Campground Reviews
Most campsites are spacey and distant from each other, so a little more private. Tons of mosquitoes carry EXTRA bug spray. We seen deer come threw super early in the morning. The camp host was the sweetest. Super friendly and gave us important info about the site. He does a great job of maintaining the campsites. But most importantly, just outright the best, he seems like he enjoys what he does and takes pride in it. He made our stay welcoming. I would give this place a 5 star but no showers.
Jul 09, 2024 · Zulema FriasBeautiful forest camping in an otherwise dry, somewhat barren landscape of wheat fields. The camp host is great. This campground has potable water and dumpsters for your trash. Vault toilets, no showers.
Sep 15, 2023 · TonjaGreat place, quiet and not over crowded. Dry camping but there are many water spigot around the campground. Have very clean outhouses. The camp host and his wife are really great people and keeps the place looking pristine. There are views of a small lake but no lake access as it's a private lake. Lots of deer, squirrel and birds. Love it there
Aug 30, 2023 · Jacki YanceyThis campground is great for tents and dry campers. There are no hookups whatsoever. There are no pull through spots, but there are some bigger spots to accommodate larger RVs. The restrooms get cleaned daily, so they're very pleasant, as far as pit toilets go. The spaces all have picnic tables and fire pits. Most are very private, especially Site 11. Views of Langdon Lake are nice, though, there is no public access, so you can only look. All in all, it's a quiet, simple, wooded, well-maintained little campground.
Aug 21, 2021 · Jim PearsonCool little camp. Read the fine print before you go. CAMPERS DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE LAKE IT IS PRIVATE.
