Woodland Campground Introduce
For local users in the Weston, Oregon area searching for "camping near me," Woodland Campground, situated along the Weston-Elgin Highway, presents a diverse range of camping experiences. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers both a more primitive camping option directly adjacent to the highway and a wonderful group site area with access to a lake and various amenities. The main camping area also provides the convenience of showers and toilets, making Woodland Campground a versatile choice for different types of campers and groups.
Environment and Ambiance:
Woodland Campground offers two distinct camping environments. The main camping area, as suggested by the name, is likely located in a wooded setting, providing shade and a natural ambiance. The presence of a lake further enhances the environment, offering scenic views and opportunities for water-based activities. The review of the group site area highlights "large spots" suitable for hammocks, individual tables, and fire pits for each camper, suggesting a spacious and well-equipped area designed for communal enjoyment while still offering personal space.
In contrast, the primitive campground section is noted for its proximity to the highway. One reviewer points out that being "right next to the highway" can be a drawback due to potential noise, but it could also be an advantage for those seeking easy access and a quick overnight stop. This section is described as "primitive," implying fewer amenities and a more basic camping experience focused on the natural setting itself.
The presence of a lake is a significant environmental feature, described as "great" with "lots of room to take your boats." This suggests that the lake is sizable and accessible for boating activities. Additionally, the availability of kayak and paddleboard rentals directly at the lake adds to the recreational appeal, making it easy for visitors to enjoy water sports without bringing their own equipment. The overall ambiance of the main and group areas seems to be geared towards enjoying the natural woodland and lake setting.
Services and Amenities:
Woodland Campground offers a range of services and amenities that vary between the primitive and main camping areas. The primitive campground is noted to have a "vault toilet," which, despite being a basic facility, was reported as "well maintained." This suggests that even in the more rustic section, efforts are made to keep the facilities clean and usable.
The main camping area provides more developed amenities, including "showers/toilets," which are described as "always nice." The availability of showers is a significant convenience for many campers, especially those staying for more than one night or engaging in physical activities. The presence of flush toilets also offers a more comfortable restroom experience compared to vault toilets.
The group site area is well-equipped with "large spots," a place to "tie a hammock," and individual "table and fire pit" for each camper within the group. This setup is ideal for organized groups, providing both communal spaces and individual amenities. The proximity to the lake also means easy access for boating and rentals.
The availability of kayak and paddleboard rentals directly at the lake is a notable amenity, making it convenient for all campers, regardless of whether they are in the main area or the group site, to enjoy water activities. This suggests that the campground is equipped to support recreational use of the lake.
While not explicitly mentioned, campgrounds often provide other basic amenities such as potable water sources and trash disposal. Given the presence of more developed facilities in the main area, it is likely that these are also available. However, it would be prudent to confirm these details when making a reservation, especially for the primitive camping section.

Woodland Campground Reviews
Primitive campground, drawback (or advantage, depending on perspe tive) is it's right next to the highway. Vault toilet, but it was well maintained.
Sep 17, 2024 · Carey GatesWent to the group site area and it was wonderful! Large spots with a place to tie a hammock if you want. Everyone has their own table and fire pit. If you stay in the main camp area they have showers/toilets which is always nice. The lake there was also great! Lots of room to take your boats and you can rent kayaks/paddleboards. Would definitely recommend 👍
Aug 13, 2023 · Kayla SantosNice small group of campsites. Bathroom was not dirty and even during covid 19 it was clean and stocked. Cons are the road noise and lack of non potable water for clean up.
Jul 06, 2020 · Jodabro (MTBrooks)Heavy truck traffic in the area starting at 4am, very loud to wake up to. Lots of poison oak/ivy in the area due to all the dead cut branches on the ground, lots of shotgun shells, beer cans, etc. half burnt campfires are regular.I can tell the rangers try to keep up but very surprised at how Oregon treats it's NFs
