When choosing an RV park, understanding the experiences of fellow travelers can be incredibly helpful. Several reviews offer insights into the pros and cons of staying at Cahokia RV Parque, providing a balanced perspective for potential visitors.
One couple who stayed at the campground for three nights during a Spring Break vacation in St. Louis highlighted the "great highway access," making it "very easy to get to downtown STL." This convenience for accessing the city's attractions is a significant advantage for tourists. However, they also noted a major drawback: the park's location in a "heavily industrialized area." While they were aware of this beforehand, they "underestimated the amount of noise that occurs 24/7." They specifically mentioned trains rolling through every 30 minutes during their first night, with frequent whistle blowing. Additionally, they found the nearby road to be "insanely busy" and "nearly impossible to turn left out of."
Further concerns were raised about a "sketchy x1000" neighborhood located across the wide road. This reviewer recounted unknowingly driving through the area while trying to avoid the difficult left turn, describing "crumbling and burnt down homes, absolute blight." This observation about the surrounding area is an important factor for potential guests to consider regarding safety and the overall environment.
On a more positive note, this same reviewer found the campground itself "nice for us as a couple." They described it as "quiet," with few people seen most of the time, although it was full due to Spring Break, indicating a mix of long-term residents and visitors. A significant amenity they appreciated was the "BBQ place right on the campus you could walk to," praising the "food and service" as "great!" They also noted that "many of the gravel pads were new and freshly graded," making it "very easy to park and level our camper."
However, the facilities received mixed feedback. The reviewer felt the "bath house could use a little updating," describing the shower area as "a little dark." They also mentioned that one toilet was out of service in the women's restroom, and their husband reported that the men's was in worse condition with "pretty bad shower heads and one shower broken." Despite these issues, they found the owners to be "very nice," the check-in process "easy," and appreciated that the owners called to verify their arrival time.
Another reviewer shared a more positive experience, stating that they "enjoyed our stay here." They found the "restrooms and facilities were clean" and mentioned that "the park was fun for the kids." A significant positive for this reviewer was the "loved the shuttle to the arch," indicating a convenient service for accessing a major St. Louis attraction. They also described the "staff" as "friendly and welcoming."
Considering these reviews, Cahokia RV Parque offers convenient highway access to St. Louis and provides a shuttle service to the Gateway Arch, which is a significant benefit for tourists. The presence of a BBQ restaurant on-site is also a notable amenity. Furthermore, some of the gravel pads appear to be newly upgraded, facilitating easy parking and leveling.
However, potential guests should be aware of the reported significant noise from the surrounding industrialized area and frequent train traffic. The difficulty of making a left turn out of the park and the presence of a distressed neighborhood nearby are also important considerations regarding location and safety. While one reviewer found the restrooms clean, both mentioned areas needing updates and repairs, such as dark showers and out-of-service or poorly functioning facilities.
The owners and staff seem to be generally well-regarded for their friendliness and helpfulness, and the check-in process is reported as efficient. The park appears to accommodate both long-term residents and short-term visitors, and it can get fully booked during peak seasons like Spring Break.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" on platforms that list accommodations and related services, Cahokia RV Parque offers a location in Sauget, IL, with easy access to St. Louis. The availability of a shuttle to the Arch and an on-site restaurant are attractive features. However, potential guests should carefully consider the reported noise levels due to the industrial surroundings and train traffic, the concerns about the nearby neighborhood, and the mixed feedback regarding the condition of the bathhouse facilities. While some sites are upgraded and the management is described as friendly, the overall environment might not be suitable for all travelers seeking a peaceful and well-maintained RV park experience.
When making a decision, local users should weigh the convenience of the location and the availability of certain amenities against the potential drawbacks related to noise, the surrounding area, and the condition of some facilities. It might be beneficial to further research other "RV parks near me" in the St. Louis metropolitan area to compare environments, services, and overall guest experiences before making a final choice. Cahokia RV Parque presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews, with notable advantages in terms of location and some amenities, but also significant drawbacks related to its industrial setting and the condition of some of its facilities.

Cahokia RV Parque Reviews
My husband and I spent 3 nights at this campground while we vacationed in St. Louis for Spring Break. The campground has great highway access, very easy to get to downtown STL. Only issue is its location in a heavily industrialized area. I knew this beforehand but underestimated the amount of noise that occurs 24/7. The first night there was a train rolling through every 30 mins blowing its whistle. The road is insanely busy and nearly impossible to turn left out of. My other issue... there is a neighborhood located across the wide road- It is sketchy x1000. We unknowingly drove through the area when avoiding the left turn out of the campground- I am talking crumbling and burnt down homes, absolute blight. The campground itself was nice for us as a couple. It was quiet and most of the time you did not see many people. There are a lot of long term residents there, but the campground was completely full due to Spring Break so there were quite a few visitors as well. We loved the fact that there was a BBQ place right on the campus you could walk to. Food and service was great! Many of the gravel pads were new and freshly graded- very easy to park and level our camper. The bath house could use a little updating in my opinion, it was a little dark in the shower area. One toilet was out of service in the women's. My husband said the men's was in worse shape with pretty bad shower heads and one shower broken. The owners were very nice, check in process was easy and they called to verify our time of arrival the day of.

Mar 20, 2025 · Karli MedranoCross country RV trip with the family, and we needed a rest for the night. We arrived rather late in the evening, but our online reservation was still available. We got into the RV park with very littlemaneuvering. The RV slips are very large, and the connections were easy to connect and made the process a lot easier. We were in town for only the night, but it was enough to know that we will be back. If you happen to be in the area, please check out Cahokia RV Parque, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
Dec 18, 2024 · John Smith IIIGreat place to park ur RV. Staff super friendly. The park is located next to a very busy intersection. This makes it very noisy as 18 wheelers are constantly driving by and sirens and trains are always heard on a daily basis.
Mar 23, 2025 · bret and maribeth clemensI recently stayed at Cahokia RV Parque for 4 days and was quite disappointed. While the location is fantastic for visiting Gateway Arch National Park, the RV park itself leaves much to be desired. The spaces are extremely tight, especially for larger rigs like ours (44/45 feet). There’s hardly any grassy area for dogs, which was a letdown. We were told to park our truck parallel on the street since our rig took up the entire spot, which seemed unsafe and inconvenient for everyone.Additionally, the propane service was lacking; despite being advertised, there was only one staff member on duty who couldn’t assist with refills. It felt frustrating and disorganized. On a positive note, the Sawmill BBQ connected to the park is fantastic—definitely a must-try! Also, Layla’s Roadhouse nearby offers great food and a welcoming atmosphere, thanks to the friendly owner, Craig. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Cahokia RV Parque unless you're just passing through and can overlook its shortcomings.
