Dockside RV Resort & Alabama Gulf Coast Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" along the picturesque Alabama Gulf Coast? Dockside RV Resort & Alabama Gulf Coast Campground, located at 14834 Niolon Ln, Coden, AL 36523, USA, presents a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the waterfront and the charm of Southern Alabama. Based on recent customer reviews, this resort offers a blend of natural beauty and friendly management, although it's also undergoing development with some amenities currently limited.
Environment and Location:
One of the most consistently praised aspects of Dockside RV Resort is its stunning location. Situated on the waterfront, the resort offers breathtaking views, particularly from the "ocean view lots" where guests can wake up to the sunrise and witness beautiful sunsets over the water. This idyllic setting provides a truly memorable experience, allowing guests to connect with the natural beauty of the Alabama Gulf Coast. The spaciousness of the lots is also a notable feature, providing ample room for RVs and outdoor living.
The resort's location in Coden also offers convenient access to a variety of local attractions. It is situated just a short drive from Dauphin Island (approximately 23 minutes) and Mobile, Alabama (around 30 minutes), providing opportunities for exploring the natural beauty of the island, historical sites in Mobile, and various entertainment options. Furthermore, Dockside RV Resort is located next door to the fishing village of Bayou le Batre, a unique and culturally rich area where visitors can purchase fresh-caught shrimp and seafood directly from the source. This proximity offers a taste of local life and culinary delights.
The campground is described as being nestled in a quiet area with hardly any traffic, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. This tranquility, combined with the waterfront views, makes Dockside RV Resort an appealing option for those seeking a serene getaway.
Management and Hospitality:
Guests consistently commend the management at Dockside RV Resort for their welcoming and attentive service. The resort manager, Sabrina, and her husband, James, are specifically mentioned as being "the most welcoming and attentive resort hosts" encountered by one long-term guest. Their friendliness and helpfulness contribute significantly to the positive experience of staying at the resort. Even a guest with mixed feelings about some aspects of the park still acknowledged the "very friendly management on site." This suggests a strong commitment to guest satisfaction and a personal touch in the management style.
Features and Amenities (Under Development):
While the location and management receive high praise, it's important to note that Dockside RV Resort is currently undergoing development, which means some advertised amenities are not yet fully operational. One guest mentioned that the "foot ball length fishing pier that's advertised is still being built," although a small part of it is usable. This indicates that future improvements are planned that will enhance the guest experience, particularly for those interested in fishing.
Currently, the resort offers basic RV sites with hookups. However, a significant point raised by a guest is the absence of a shower house or laundry facilities. This is a crucial consideration for RVers, especially those on longer trips or in smaller rigs without these onboard amenities. Potential guests should be aware that they will need to rely on their own RV facilities for these needs at this time.
The resort does feature a "super cute" pool, although it is not heated. While the pool can be a refreshing amenity during warmer months, its lack of heating may limit its usability during cooler times of the year.
Another point of feedback concerns the management's dogs roaming the campground off-leash. While one guest might not mind this, another guest with their own dogs found it problematic, making it difficult to relax outside or walk around the campground. This is a factor that pet owners should consider and potentially discuss with the management before booking.
The surrounding area is described as having "Lots of random dogs that would charge," making walking outside the campground less appealing. While this is acknowledged as not being the campground's fault, it is information that potential guests who enjoy walking their pets or exploring the immediate vicinity should be aware of.
Promotional Information and Future Potential:
The provided reviews do not contain specific promotional offers or discounts for Dockside RV Resort & Alabama Gulf Coast Campground. However, the positive comments about the beautiful location and friendly management, coupled with the ongoing development mentioned by a guest ("There definitely is Lots of work to be done so hopefully with the new owners it will be an amazing park"), suggest a promising future for this resort.
The fact that a guest who stayed for a month in December 2024 expressed "mixed feelings" but also acknowledged the beautiful location and friendly management indicates that the resort has strong foundational elements to build upon. As the planned amenities, such as the fishing pier and potentially shower/laundry facilities, come to fruition, Dockside RV Resort has the potential to become a highly sought-after destination for RVers on the Alabama Gulf Coast.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" offering waterfront views and a friendly atmosphere, Dockside RV Resort & Alabama Gulf Coast Campground is worth considering. However, it is important to be aware of the current limitations regarding amenities such as showers and laundry. The spacious lots and the proximity to attractions like Dauphin Island, Mobile, and Bayou le Batre are significant advantages. Pet owners may want to inquire about the pet policies, particularly regarding the management's dogs.
To get the most up-to-date information on amenities, availability, and any potential promotions, it is recommended to contact Dockside RV Resort & Alabama Gulf Coast Campground directly at (251) 442-1767 or +1 251-442-1767. Inquiring about the progress of the fishing pier and any plans for additional amenities like shower houses or laundry facilities would also be beneficial for potential guests. Despite some current limitations, the beautiful location and welcoming management make Dockside RV Resort a promising option for experiencing the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Dockside RV Resort & Alabama Gulf Coast Campground Reviews
We stayed at Dockside Rv Resort for 3.5 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The resort manager, Sabrina , and her husband James are the most welcoming and attentive resort hosts we have encountered. The lots are spacious, we stayed in a ocean view lot and waking up to the sunrise and seeing the sunsets over the water was heavenly. It is a 23 minutes from Dauphin Island, 30 minutes from Mobile, Al, next door to the fishing village of Bayou le Batre, where you can buy shrimp and seafood, fresh caught that morning. We are already looking forward to next spring so we can visit and kick up our feet in Southern Alabama at Dockside RV
Apr 21, 2025 · Suzanne D.We stayed here for the month of dec 2024. I was really excited about this park because of its location but sadly have some mixed feelings after our stay.It is a Beautiful location and you cannot beat the views. Very friendly management on site. However the managers always had their dogs off leash roaming the campground to the point the big dog they had towards the end of our stay climbed our steps to our camper. If we didn't have dogs I probably wouldn't care, but it made it very difficult sitting outside with my dogs tied and in control in our site. Or even just walking around the campground without being approached by their dogs. I don't feel it's our place to ask management to keep their dogs in their control. There isn't really anywhere near the campground to walk either as the surroundings area had Lots of random dogs that would charge. ( this clearly not the campground fault)The foot ball length fishing pier that's advertised is still being built, but the small part that's done is usable. There's no shower house or laundry or anything you get your site and that's it.The campground is close to town for your needs and is nestled into a quiet area with hardly any traffic. The pool is super cute, although not heated. There definitely is Lots of work to be done so hopefully with the new owners it will be an amazing park.
Jan 26, 2025 · Andrea FischerWe had a nice stay. The good: the place was very clean and the pads were very nice with plenty power and the sewer pipes to each location. It was nice to look over the water in the morning.Camo host was really great, and friendly. 5 stars for her bing so nice and helpful alone.Could use improvement:The water is shared so you have to follow a water hose to another camper to get water. No showers or toilets. We are self contained so it was not a big deal but we all know the issues with showering and pooping in our campers. Most people expect "resort" label to have this. The spots could be labeled better. It's difficult to see especially at night. Also the website does not have a map that your can go back to reference after booking, so you need to screenshot it to know where it's at.They have Wifi which is cool but we forgot to get the password from the host and it's not in the email instructions so we did not get to use it.Good to know:There is a road between the camp and the water. The dock is not complete and there is no sand. It's not a problem, just something to know. It's nice but for us it's not worth the fee. Still giving it 5 stars overall.
Feb 17, 2025 · Ty BranamanWe rv camped here during the week of Christmas 2024. This is an absolutely beautiful location and Sabrina & her husband are top-notch camp hosts! Very quiet and very, very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and hope to come back again soon! Gorgeous sunsets too!!
Dec 26, 2024 · Jackie BroadDockside is under new management, so only time will tell if they will make this into a really nice Resort. They still have an issue with the water, which in turns creates problems in the pool. They have a fair amount of cleaning up around the site, but as with all, time will tell. There is great potential here. It is a great location with great views. This was our second visit, but the first under new management. We will return to see if the problems are being addressed.
