Duck Creek RV Resort Introduce
For local users searching within the category of "rv parks near me" and seeking a family-oriented destination in Muskegon, MI, Duck Creek RV Resort, located at 1155 W Riley-Thompson Rd, Muskegon, MI 49445, USA, presents itself as a potentially attractive option. They can be contacted at (231) 766-3646 or +1 231-766-3646 for inquiries and reservations. Based on the available reviews, the resort offers a range of features and services that cater particularly to families with children, alongside a focus on safety and security. However, it's also important for prospective visitors to be aware of some reported negative experiences regarding the handling of accommodations for individuals with special needs.
Environment and Atmosphere: Duck Creek RV Resort is described as a "great campground" with a clean environment. One reviewer specifically praised its cleanliness, which is a significant factor for many campers. The resort is also noted for having a "friendly staff," contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for guests. The presence of "tons for the kids to do" suggests a lively and engaging environment geared towards families with children, indicating that the resort is likely well-equipped with activities and facilities designed to entertain young visitors.
A significant aspect highlighted by a reviewer is the resort's focus on safety. It is described as a "private, secure location," which was appreciated by a family who felt it allowed their children more freedom to ride bikes and play without the concern of "random non campers coming and going." This emphasis on security could be a major draw for families prioritizing a safe environment for their children to enjoy their vacation. The attentive nature of the staff and workers from arrival to departure also contributes to a positive overall atmosphere for many guests.
However, one concerning review details an incident involving friends traveling with an autistic child. While the initial booking of a cabana for a safe, quiet space by the pool was accommodated, an overbooking issue led to the family being asked to leave despite a confirmed reservation. While this matter was reportedly resolved peacefully through communication with management and other guests, a subsequent email informed the family that they are "no longer welcome at the campground due to 'issues with management.'" This incident raises concerns about the resort's long-term handling of guests with special needs and the potential for inconsistent or punitive actions by management in such situations.
Services and Staff: The reviews offer insights into various services and the performance of the staff at Duck Creek RV Resort:
- Friendly and Attentive Staff: Multiple reviewers praise the staff for being friendly and attentive from the beginning to the end of their stay. This suggests a generally positive service-oriented culture among the resort's employees.
- Water Slides and Pool: A significant feature for families is the presence of water slides and a pool, which are highlighted as being particularly enjoyable for children. This indicates that the resort offers engaging water-based recreational activities.
- Cabana Service: The availability of cabanas by the pool, equipped with a fridge and multiple chairs, is noted as a great way to get out of the sun. This suggests an amenity for added comfort and convenience for guests spending time at the pool area. However, the overbooking incident and subsequent ban of a family who reserved a cabana raise concerns about the reliability and management of this service for guests with specific needs.
- Grill by the Pool: The availability of a "little grill by the pool" serving fresh, hot, and delicious food is a convenient amenity for guests who prefer to eat on-site.
- Accommodation for Special Needs (Initial Attempt): The resort initially went "out of their way" to book a cabana to provide a safe, quiet space for a child with autism, indicating an initial willingness to accommodate special needs. However, the subsequent handling of the overbooking and the decision to ban the family raise serious questions about the consistency and long-term commitment to accommodating guests with disabilities.
The contrasting experiences regarding the accommodation of special needs highlight the importance for families with unique requirements to proactively inquire and seek assurances before booking at Duck Creek RV Resort.
Features and Amenities: Based on the available reviews, Duck Creek RV Resort offers the following features and amenities:
- Clean Environment: The campground is noted for its cleanliness.
- Secure Location: It is a private and secure location, enhancing safety for guests, especially children.
- Water Slides: A significant attraction for children.
- Swimming Pool: Provides recreational opportunities for all ages.
- Cabanas: Available by the pool, offering shade and amenities like a fridge and chairs.
- Grill/Food Service: A grill located by the pool serves fresh, hot food.
- Activities for Kids: The resort offers "tons for the kids to do," suggesting a range of activities beyond just the water park features.
While the reviews do not provide a comprehensive list of all amenities (such as RV site specifics, restroom facilities, laundry, etc.), the focus is clearly on the family-friendly aspects, particularly the water-related activities and the sense of security.
Promotional Information and Considerations for Local Users: For local users searching for "rv parks near me" in Muskegon, MI, particularly families with children, Duck Creek RV Resort presents several appealing features. The clean environment, friendly staff, and the abundance of activities for kids, especially the water slides and pool, make it a potentially enjoyable destination for a family vacation. The emphasis on safety and security could provide peace of mind for parents allowing their children some independence within the resort.
The availability of cabanas with amenities like a fridge offers added comfort for families spending time by the pool. The on-site grill provides a convenient option for meals without having to leave the resort.
However, the reported negative experience of a family with an autistic child raises a significant concern for individuals traveling with special needs. While the initial attempt to accommodate was positive, the subsequent overbooking issue and the decision to ban the family suggest potential inconsistencies or a lack of understanding in handling such situations long-term. Families with members who require specific accommodations should be particularly diligent in asking detailed questions and seeking clear assurances before booking.
Despite this serious concern, the positive experiences of other families highlight the potential for a great vacation at Duck Creek RV Resort, especially for those prioritizing a clean, safe environment with plenty of activities for children.
Recommendations for Local Users: Local users considering Duck Creek RV Resort should take the following steps to make an informed decision:
- Contact Management Directly: Call (231) 766-3646 or +1 231-766-3646 to inquire about availability, RV site details, other amenities, and specific policies.
- Inquire About Accessibility and Special Needs Accommodations: If traveling with individuals who have special needs, ask detailed questions about the resort's policies and procedures for providing accommodations. Seek assurances and examples of how similar situations have been handled in the past.
- Ask About Cabana Reservations: If interested in renting a cabana, inquire about the reservation process and the resort's policies on overbooking and honoring confirmed reservations.
- Read More Reviews: Look for additional reviews on various platforms to get a broader range of experiences and perspectives on Duck Creek RV Resort.
- Consider Your Family's Needs: Evaluate whether the amenities and the reported environment align with your family's priorities and requirements for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Duck Creek RV Resort appears to be a family-oriented campground with a focus on fun and safety. However, the reported negative experience regarding the accommodation of special needs warrants careful consideration and thorough communication with the management, especially for families with unique requirements.

Duck Creek RV Resort Reviews
We camped here last summer with close friends. Their youngest child is autistic, and they went out of their way to book a cabana for both Friday and Saturday to ensure a safe, quiet space by the pool. On Saturday, despite having a confirmed reservation, they were told to leave the cabana due to an overbooking issue. We spoke with management and the other guests to resolve the matter peacefully, and everyone walked away understanding the situation and satisfied.Fast forward to this year: our friends were heartbroken to receive an email stating they are no longer welcome at the campground due to "issues with management." This is a family who handled the situation with grace and simply advocated for their child’s needs. It’s disheartening to see a family effectively punished for needing accommodations related to their child’s disability. Traveling with a child who has special needs is already challenging enough—this kind of treatment makes it feel impossible. We urge the campground to reconsider how they handle these situations and encourage other families with unique needs to ask questions before booking.
Apr 08, 2025 · Michelle LynnGreat campground! Clean, friendly staff, tons for the kids to do! Safe! Safety is a big concern especially now a days . We loved that duck creek is a private , secure location! It was easier to let the kids have freedom to ride bikes and play, knowing random non campers weren’t coming and going! The attentive nature of all the staff and workers was perfection from day one to our last day! The kids love the water slides and pool! The cabana was equipped with a fridge and multiple chairs made it a great spot to get out of the sun here n there. Food from the little grill by the pool was fresh, hot and delicious. We definitely enjoyed our stay!

Feb 25, 2025 · skyrocketguyIt will be hard to stay anywhere else. Duck Creek is our new favorite camping spot. We were very impressed with the level of care and management buy all staff. The staff is amazing and very kind. The entire park is clean; bathrooms, showers, pools, grounds, campsites, lakes! Super safe and kid/pup friendly. The days are filled with fun in the sun and the nights are quiet, peaceful dark starry nights. On our last night my husband and I went for a night bike ride around midnight. At one turn in the park I felt like I was riding my bike right into the big dipper. It was magical.
Sep 02, 2024 · Kelly VerticanWe have been wanting to go to this campground for a while. We booked a buddy site several months ago. Just recently, I started reading the reviews and started to get nervous as they were not that good. Let me tell you, there is not one thing I was not happy with! This place was one of the best campgrounds we have stayed at. We did a long weekend and it was amazing! The staff were great, everything was clean, there are so many activities for the kids to do, and just a great set up! We will definitely be back and will be telling others to go! Yes, it may be a little pricey compared to most but you get what you pay for!!!!
