Edge of Smokies Campground Introduce
For local users exploring the "RV Parks Near Me" platform in search of a unique camping experience near the Smoky Mountains National Park, Edge of Smokies Campground, located at 4790 Hooper Hwy, Cosby, TN 37722, presents an interesting, albeit exclusive, option. While a direct phone number is not provided in the available information, its description as a "great campground near the Smokey Mountains National Park" suggests a desirable location for accessing the natural beauty of the region. However, it's crucial to note a significant aspect highlighted in the customer reviews: Edge of Smokies Campground is described as a "small family owned lots campground" that is "not open to the general public unless you own property there." This exclusivity defines the nature of this RV park and its accessibility to the broader community of RV enthusiasts.
The environment surrounding Edge of Smokies Campground in Cosby, Tennessee, is undoubtedly shaped by its proximity to the renowned Smoky Mountains National Park. Cosby, known as the "Quiet Side of the Smokies," offers a more laid-back and less crowded atmosphere compared to the bustling towns of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Campers and property owners here can likely expect to be immersed in the natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, characterized by lush forests, diverse wildlife, and opportunities for outdoor recreation. The air is typically fresh and clean, and the scenery can range from gentle rolling hills to more dramatic mountain vistas as one gets closer to the park boundaries. The "great campground near the Smokey Mountains National Park" descriptor implies convenient access to hiking trails, scenic drives, and other attractions within the park, making it an ideal location for nature lovers and outdoor adventurers who have the privilege of staying there.
Information regarding the specific services offered at Edge of Smokies Campground is somewhat limited due to its private nature. However, the first customer review mentions that "This campground offers many service to visiting campers and guest." This suggests that for property owners and their invited guests, a range of amenities are available to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Typically, such campgrounds might offer essential services like water hookups, electrical hookups, and possibly sewer hookups at individual lots. Common facilities such as bathhouses with restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, and waste disposal areas are also likely to be present. Given its description as a "great" location, it's possible that additional amenities such as recreational areas, community spaces, or even basic supplies might be available for the use of property owners and their guests. However, since it is not open to the general public, the specific nature and extent of these services are primarily relevant to those who own property within the campground.
The most defining feature of Edge of Smokies Campground is its exclusivity. Being a "small family owned lots campground" that is not open to the general public unless you own property there fundamentally shapes its character and accessibility. This model often fosters a strong sense of community among property owners, creating a potentially quieter and more private camping experience compared to publicly accessible campgrounds. The emphasis on ownership suggests a long-term commitment and investment by individuals who value the location and the community. While this exclusivity means it is not an option for transient RV travelers or those simply looking for a short-term camping spot in the Smoky Mountains, it offers a unique benefit to property owners: a dedicated and potentially well-maintained base within a desirable location, with the opportunity to return frequently and build relationships with fellow owners. The "great Smokey Mountain location" further underscores the value proposition for those who have invested in property there, providing a personal gateway to the natural wonders of the region.
Promotional information for Edge of Smokies Campground, in the traditional sense for attracting general public bookings, is largely absent due to its private nature. The first review serves more as an informative statement for those who might be aware of or considering property ownership within the campground, highlighting the availability of "many service to visiting campers and guest" (presumably guests of the property owners). The recommendation to "Please call ahead to make reservation at this great Smokey Mountain location" might be misleading for the general public given the second review's clarification about ownership being a prerequisite for staying there. Therefore, any promotional aspect is primarily geared towards individuals interested in becoming property owners within this "great Smokey Mountain location," emphasizing the community aspect of a "small family owned" setup and the potential for a long-term, enjoyable experience near the national park.
The two customer reviews provide contrasting yet crucial pieces of information for understanding Edge of Smokies Campground. The first review broadly praises it as "One of the great campgrounds near the Smokey Mountains National Park" and mentions "many service to visiting campers and guest," also advising a call for reservations. This paints a picture of a well-regarded campground with amenities. However, the second review clarifies the essential condition for access: "Not open to the general public unless you own property there." This crucial detail overrides the implication of general availability in the first review and defines the campground as a private community for property owners and their guests. Therefore, for local users browsing "RV Parks Near Me," the key takeaway is that Edge of Smokies Campground is likely not an option for short-term rentals unless they are invited guests of a property owner.
For local users actively searching "RV Parks Near Me" for their next camping trip to the Smoky Mountains, Edge of Smokies Campground is likely not a viable option for a typical booking unless they are considering property ownership within a private RV lot community. The information suggests a well-regarded location with services catering to property owners and their guests, situated conveniently near the national park. The emphasis on it being a "small family owned lots campground" not open to the general public underscores its exclusive nature. Those interested in the possibility of owning property within such a community might find this location appealing due to its proximity to the Smoky Mountains and the presumably well-maintained environment and services available to owners and their visitors. However, for those seeking short-term RV parking or camping options, other campgrounds in the Cosby or Gatlinburg areas would be more appropriate.
In conclusion, Edge of Smokies Campground in Cosby, TN, is presented as a "great campground near the Smokey Mountains National Park" that offers "many service to visiting campers and guest." However, it is essential for local users searching "RV Parks Near Me" to understand that this is a private, family-owned campground where access is generally limited to property owners and their invited guests. It is not open to the general public for transient camping. Therefore, while its location and services may be appealing, it is primarily relevant to those interested in property ownership within a private RV community in the Smoky Mountains. For those seeking short-term RV parking or camping accommodations in the area, alternative campgrounds that are open to the general public should be explored.

Sep 01, 2019 · Ander` ChipoLandTreeGreat small family owned lots campground. Not open to the general public unless you own property there.
Jul 28, 2024 · C.T. BowenBeautiful location with a coffee and book store right across the street! Nice pool! The bathrooms needed way more attention than anything else I saw. If I understand correctly, it's supposed to be "kept up" by owners/members but cleanliness was just one part of it... they needed updates and/or repairs. 1 out of 2 showers in the ladies room didn't work. Hopefully when we go back with our friends it will be taken care of and I can update this review!
Jul 29, 2019 · Lori Fields-HarperThis private campground has made many improvements over the years. There is a true care taken to maintain and improve the grounds. Reasonable yearly fee and water/sewer included.
Aug 29, 2017 · American EitelGreat little community with pool and public bathroom with showers, there's an atv rental sign out front with the only off road tours with the rental companies around here. Owner is fun check it out if your looking for scenery adventure the lazy way.
