Look no further than Johnson RV Park, situated within the Camp Blanding Joint Training Center in Starke, Florida. This unique campground provides a tranquil retreat exclusively for military affiliates, offering well-maintained sites and convenient access to both on-base facilities and nearby attractions.
Located at Ave A, Starke, FL 32091, USA, Johnson RV Park can be reached at (904) 682-3104 or their mobile number +1 904-682-3104 for reservations and inquiries. It's important to note that, based on customer feedback, this campground operates within a military installation, and therefore, access and eligibility for staying here are primarily limited to active duty and retired military personnel. It is recommended to contact the recreation office at Camp Blanding to confirm specific eligibility requirements for other categories of individuals.
A Secure and Scenic Location within Camp Blanding
Johnson RV Park benefits from its location within the Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, offering a secure and well-maintained environment for its guests. The installation itself provides a sense of peace and order, contributing to a relaxing camping experience. One of the highlights mentioned by visitors is the beautiful view of the lake from many of the campsites, adding a touch of natural serenity to your stay.
Navigating to the Campground: Access via the Museum Gate
Finding the correct entrance to Johnson RV Park is crucial for a smooth arrival. According to a recent visitor, GPS navigation may not lead you directly to the open gate. It is recommended to use the gate that provides access to the Camp Blanding Museum. This specific instruction can save you time and frustration when arriving at the installation, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area.
Spacious and Well-Equipped RV Sites
Johnson RV Park offers spacious campsites designed to accommodate even larger RVs. One reviewer with a 53-foot truck and trailer combination reported staying comfortably in sites 25 and 26. These sites feature fairly level cement pads, which are wide and easy to back into, a significant advantage for those with larger rigs. Each site is equipped with full hookups, including water, electricity, and sewer connections, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay. Additionally, each site includes a picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for enjoying outdoor meals and evening campfires (when permitted and following safety regulations).
Convenient Laundry Facilities
For guests needing to take care of laundry, Johnson RV Park provides a centrally located laundry room. Situated in the middle of the middle camping area, the facility offers four washing machines and six dryers. These machines are coin-operated, requiring quarters for use. For added convenience, a coin machine is available on-site, allowing you to easily obtain the necessary change. The cost reported was $1.50 per wash and $1.75 for 45 minutes of drying time, which is fairly standard for campground laundry facilities.
Proximity to St. Augustine and Local Attractions
While Johnson RV Park offers a peaceful retreat within Camp Blanding, it also provides convenient access to nearby attractions. The historic city of St. Augustine, known for its rich history, beautiful architecture, and stunning coastline, is an easy drive of approximately 45 minutes from the campground. This makes Johnson RV Park an excellent base for exploring the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the United States.
Assistance with Mobile Mechanic Services
Traveling in an RV sometimes requires unexpected maintenance or repairs. During one guest's stay, they needed a mobile mechanic. The process of obtaining a visitor pass for the mechanic was reported to be easy through the recreation office at Camp Blanding. This demonstrates the helpfulness and efficiency of the on-site management in assisting guests with their needs, even those beyond the standard campground amenities.
Ongoing Improvements and Pet Considerations
One reviewer mentioned that the park is undergoing some improvements, specifically noting work on bridges and the need for road improvements in the older section of the campground. They did not visit the new area, so the condition of those roads is unknown. It's positive to see that the management is actively working on enhancing the infrastructure of the park.
An important point for pet owners to note is a specific policy regarding dog walking. According to one review, pets are not allowed in the center park area out of the three camping areas within Johnson RV Park. This is a somewhat unusual restriction, and pet owners should be aware of this rule and plan their dog walks accordingly within the designated pet-friendly areas of the campground.

Johnson RV Park Reviews
This campground is on the Camp Blanding Joint Training Center installation. Active duty and retired military can make reservations to stay here. I am not sure what other categories of persons have base camping privileges. Our GPS had trouble finding the correct open gate. Use the gate to the Camp Blanding museum. We are in a 5th wheel, total truck and trailer length is 53 ft. We have stayed in sites 25 and 26. Both were on fairly level cement pads that were wide and easy to back into. We had full hookups, a picnic table, and a fire ring. We had a beautiful view of the lake. The laundry room is in the middle of the middle camping area. There were 4 washers and 6 dryers, quarters required. There is a coin machine available. $1.50 to wash and $1.75 for 45 minutes of drying time. St. Augustine is an easy drive, about 45 minutes, from the campground. During our stay we needed a mobile mechanic. We notified the recreation office and received a visitor pass for the mechanic (easy process).
Dec 13, 2023 · Christine LairdGreat little park. They are working on bridges and need some improvement on the roads in the old area. Did not visit the new area. Kind of weird though for dog walking. The center park out of the 3 doesn't allow pets.
Feb 06, 2025 · Gayleen WederquistBeautiful park! Much nicer than our state parks, but only available to active duty & retired military. Contact them for more info & availability.
Sep 22, 2023 · Nancy Bumpus TompkinsLocated at the Camp Blanding military training center. Beautiful lake and sunsets. Camp host Al Brewer is the best -- helpful, informative, friendly.
May 06, 2022 · karron haglerWe love this RV Park on a FL National Guard Base. Must have ID to enter base and camp. The Rec Dept was so helpful yesterday when we arrived at the very end of her work day. GENEROUS Spaces between sites, FHU area and new overflow area with water/20 amp. Next to a gorgeous lake. Bathrooms near Rec Office/no showers. Historic WWII era basic training base where my dad had basic. Great museum. Our 2nd visit. Will return
