Lazy R Family Park Introduce
If you are searching for "RV parks near me" in the Harlingen, Texas area, Lazy R Family Park, located at 2100 E Gayle Ave, Harlingen, TX 78550, USA, is a mobile home park that may also accommodate recreational vehicles. They can be reached at (956) 640-5300 or +1 956-640-5300 for inquiries.
Lazy R Family Park is presented as a "Family Park," suggesting it may cater to residents of all ages, including families with children. While primarily a mobile home park offering long-term residential options, it's common for such parks to also provide spaces for RVs seeking short-term or extended stays. The location on E Gayle Ave places it within Harlingen, offering potential access to local amenities and services.
However, the available customer reviews paint a concerning picture of the experiences of individuals who have resided at Lazy R Family Park. Multiple reviewers express significant dissatisfaction with various aspects of the park, particularly management practices and the condition of the property.
One reviewer describes the manager as "rude and condescending" and alleges being "misled and misinformed" into renting at the park. This individual also highlights the issue of "way too many fees/fines" being levied, leading to unexpected additional costs beyond the initial agreement. A lack of direct contact with higher management is also mentioned, with communication being limited to an email address for "corporate." This feedback raises serious concerns about management professionalism, transparency regarding fees, and the accessibility of effective communication channels.
Another reviewer reports significant maintenance problems within a short period of living at Lazy R Family Park. These issues include "sewer problems" with a peculiar restriction on using a plunger (reportedly incurring repair fees if violated) and constantly flickering lights indicative of a potential "short circuit." This suggests potential inadequacies in the park's infrastructure and maintenance protocols, which could lead to inconvenience and additional expenses for residents.
The most detailed review outlines a truly "horrible experience" involving serious health and safety concerns. This former resident reported mold issues in their trailer that allegedly caused illness, with maintenance only offering to "paint over it" rather than address the underlying problem. Shockingly, the reviewer recounts being electrocuted twice due to a faulty light switch, which was then inadequately repaired, leaving circuits exposed. Further maintenance problems included a daily malfunctioning breaker that turned off the water heater, none of which were reportedly resolved. This paints a picture of potentially unsafe living conditions and a lack of effective maintenance response to critical issues.
Beyond the immediate living conditions, this reviewer also describes negative interactions with the landlord regarding financial assistance for rent while attending school. Allegedly, the landlord refused to complete necessary tax forms that would have allowed a workforce program to pay the rent, ultimately leading to the reviewer's eviction. This suggests a lack of cooperation and potential financial hardship imposed on residents. Finally, this reviewer corroborates the issue of "random fees" and discrepancies between the initially quoted rent and the actual amounts charged, including an alleged overcharge upon move-in that was never refunded. This reinforces the concerns about hidden costs and potentially unfair billing practices.
Considering these overwhelmingly negative reviews, individuals searching for "RV parks near me" should exercise extreme caution when considering Lazy R Family Park for their accommodation needs, whether for a short-term RV stay or a longer-term mobile home residency. The reported issues concerning management conduct, maintenance problems (including potential safety hazards like electrical issues and mold), unexpected fees, and a lack of responsiveness to resident concerns are significant red flags.
Given the severity and consistency of the negative feedback, it would be prudent for prospective residents to thoroughly explore other options for RV parks or mobile home parks in the Harlingen, TX area. If, despite these warnings, you still wish to inquire about Lazy R Family Park, it is absolutely crucial to contact the management directly using the provided phone numbers. During your inquiry, be sure to ask detailed questions about the following:
- Availability and condition of RV sites (if applicable): Inquire about the specific condition of any RV sites, including drainage, electrical hookups, and overall maintenance. Directly address the issues raised in the reviews regarding site problems.
- Maintenance protocols and responsiveness: Ask about the park's maintenance procedures, response times to issues, and how they address serious problems like electrical faults and mold.
- Fees and billing practices: Obtain a comprehensive list of all potential fees beyond the base rent, including any charges for utilities, amenities, or potential fines. Request a clear explanation of the billing process and dispute resolution.
- Management contact and communication: Clarify the primary point of contact for residents and the process for escalating concerns beyond email communication with "corporate."
- Lease terms and conditions: Carefully review the lease agreement for any clauses regarding fees, maintenance responsibilities, and eviction policies.
- Safety and security measures: Inquire about any safety protocols in place within the park.
- Amenities and their condition: If any amenities are advertised, ask about their current condition and accessibility for RV guests.
- Promotional offers (if any): While unlikely given the reviews, inquire about any current specials or incentives.
Under the current circumstances, and based on the strong negative feedback, a personal visit to Lazy R Family Park is strongly discouraged unless you are prepared to thoroughly inspect the property and engage in extensive questioning with both management and potentially current residents (if you can connect with them independently of management). The reported issues suggest a potentially unpleasant and problematic living experience.
In conclusion, Lazy R Family Park in Harlingen, Texas, has received overwhelmingly negative reviews citing rude and condescending management, misleading information, excessive fees, significant maintenance problems (including safety hazards like electrical issues and mold), and a lack of responsiveness to resident concerns. Individuals searching for "RV parks near me" or long-term living options should carefully consider these serious issues and are strongly advised to explore alternative accommodations in the Harlingen area. Thorough due diligence and extreme caution are warranted if considering this park.

Lazy R Family Park Reviews
Manager is rude and condescending, and misled and misinformed us into renting here. Also, there are way too many fees/fines thrown at you. Don’t rent here; you’ll end up paying more than you bargained. Oh, and there’s no one abound the property manager to speak with directly, you’ll be given an email to “corporate”. Can’t wait for the year [lease] to be over! Not even 2 months here and sewer problems! (You’re told not even to use plunger to unclog toilet or YOU will incur repair fees?!) Also lights flicker constantly - a short circuit somewhere no doubt. Etc, etc…don’t rent here!
Oct 28, 2024 · Sandra DHad a horrible experience there, my trailer had mold and I even got super sick due to it but the maintenance wouldn't do anything except offer to paint over it. One time one of the maintenance workers had to fix one of the light switches because I got electrocuted twice and they left it pretty much hanging out of the wall leaving the circuits exposed. Also had one of the breaker jump daily and it would turn off the water heater. Nothing was ever done to address any of the issues I reported. When I was going to school I had to minimize the days I was working and the program I was going through offered to pay my rent while attending the school and the landlord refused to fill out the tax form that was needed so the workforce could pay them. Due to that I ended up getting evicted. They also have random fees that they'll surprise you with and you'll never pay the amount they tell you when you first sign the lease. I even got charged extra when I moved in and they never refunded what they over charged me.
Apr 01, 2025 · Ahron CastilloThis place is horrible, my initial move in I over paid but have yet to receive the credit, don't believe these other reviews as alm the reviews are bribed with "free" stuff, none are honest reviews of the place. I moved in on Feb of 2023 and have had nothing but problems. They constantly charge random fees at will plus they will not respond to messages or calls. They also micromanage as if you were living at government housing and there is a fee for everything but God forbid they owe you money they will make up any excuse to not pay you. The place goes through manages constantly so you never have 1 specific person to deal with and they never have the same information. Also if you need to file a complaint there's absolutely no way to do so. The management is also never there so if you need to get a hold of someone between the business hours they say theyre supposed to be in, good luck with that. I cannot wait for my lease to be up so I can move out of this God awful place.
Oct 20, 2023 · Ahron CastilloThey have sewer problems and will not do anything on their end to fix the bill, also the main manager is rude and not so caring what so ever. Not to mention the houses are infested with small roaches. For the price you’re better off renting an actual house!
Jun 29, 2022 · Kassandra BuenrostroThe staff was very friendly and professional when inquired about the rental available. Ms. Maria was very helpful and let me know what information I needed to bring to fill out the application. The staff was very polite. Now been living here at park it quite.
