For inquiries or reservations, the park can be reached at (520) 210-1208 or via mobile at +1 520-210-1208.
The environment at Misty Player RV Park is consistently praised for its tranquility and scenic beauty. Many sites offer direct views of the water, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Reviews frequently highlight the "beautiful views of the river" and the quiet nature of the campground, making it an ideal spot for those looking to unwind. The park is described as "small but very clean," indicating a well-maintained and intimate setting. The overall impression is one of a serene retreat, despite its proximity to the active Coast Guard air station across the street. The grounds are typically well-kept, with grassy areas complementing the concrete RV pads, providing a neat and inviting appearance.
Misty Player RV Park provides a comprehensive range of services and features designed to ensure a comfortable stay for its guests. A key feature for RVers is the availability of "full hookups," including 50/30 amp electric, water, and sewer connections at each site. This allows for convenient and self-sufficient camping, eliminating the need for frequent trips to dump stations. The RV sites are well-maintained with concrete pads, ensuring a level and stable setup for all types of rigs. Space letters are spray-painted on sites, which aids in navigation and identification.
Beyond RV sites, Misty Player RV Park also offers rental cabins located adjacent to the RV park. These cabins are often highlighted as a superior accommodation option on the base. Customer reviews praise the cabins for their comfort and amenities, typically featuring a large bed in the main room and an additional sleeping area upstairs. Each cabin comes with a "porch overlooking the water," providing scenic views. Inside, guests can expect a "tidy bathroom," a "full kitchen with appliances and cookware," a dinner table, a large TV, and Wi-Fi. The inclusion of a full kitchen and Wi-Fi significantly enhances the comfort and convenience for guests staying in the cabins.
Additional amenities and services available at the park and nearby on the base include a laundry facility, which is a valuable convenience for extended stays, although some reviews mention that the RV park showers may be closed during specific seasons (October - April). A dump station is also available. The base itself offers a small Coast Guard Exchange (mini-mart) and a gas station, providing immediate access to basic necessities. While a commissary might not be available directly on base, local grocery stores like Food Lion and Walmart are a short drive away in Elizabeth City, offering broader shopping options.
Recreational opportunities are also part of the appeal. The park's location near the water provides opportunities for fishing and boating. There is a boat launch nearby, making it convenient for those with watercraft. A swimming beach is also within approximately 100 yards of the RV park. The base also features a playground, picnic area, and a fitness center. A walking path/sidewalk allows for easy movement around the base, and guests have noted the ability to ride bikes across the base without issue, indicating a generally safe and accessible environment for light recreation.
Promotional information for Misty Player RV Park, often found on military campground directories, emphasizes its exclusivity for authorized users, highlighting its veteran-friendly status. The competitive pricing, with rates as low as $90 a night for cabins during the off-season, and RV sites at around $40 a night, is a significant draw, especially for military and DoD personnel seeking affordable lodging. Its strategic location is also a key promotional point. Being "close to downtown" Elizabeth City means easy access to local restaurants and shopping, while its proximity to the Outer Banks (approximately an hour's drive) makes it an excellent base camp for exploring this popular coastal region of North Carolina. The park promotes itself as a "secluded getaway for relaxation" with "beautiful sites near the water." The presence of concrete pads and full hookups, along with responsive and helpful staff, contributes to its positive reputation.
Reservations for Misty Player RV Park are generally required and can be accepted up to 90 days in advance, as the park can be "very busy April-September." This indicates its popularity, particularly during the warmer months when visitors are keen to explore the Outer Banks and enjoy outdoor activities. While generally positive, some older reviews noted that specific sites might have limited views due to proximity to other structures, and some found the entry gates to the base to be narrow for very large rigs, though manageable. The park also allows pets at RV sites, making it a suitable option for those traveling with animal companions, although pets are not permitted in the rental cabins or mobile homes.
In summary, Misty Player RV Park offers a highly desirable camping experience for its authorized users, providing well-maintained full hookup RV sites and comfortable water-view cabins. Its tranquil, scenic environment, coupled with convenient access to essential amenities on base and nearby in Elizabeth City, makes it a favored choice. Its strategic location as a base for exploring the Outer Banks further enhances its appeal, solidifying its position as a top-rated option for military and DoD affiliated travelers searching for "RV Parks Near Me" in coastal North Carolina.

Aug 19, 2020 · Scott ChandlerIt's small but has full hook ups. There's a small sandy beach, a dock, & boat launch. There are plenty of picnic tables, & covered pavilions. The shoppette is close. The water is brackish. We've really been enjoying our time here. Will definitely come back.
Apr 22, 2022 · Team LinkWe went in the commercial gate, but it was a long drive from the RV park we could have fit through the main gate. There were 12 FHU sites that are big rig friendly. It accommodated our 41' fifth wheel and truck with the RV hanging over the grass except we couldn't connect to sewer because it was to far forward.Back in site #F had a nice view of the River on the passenger side. The sunset is from the dock just a short walk from the RV park. There are also three "cabins" overlooking the River.
