My experience with them was the most terrible thing before I tried to move a mobile house to which I also commented on a couple of occasions that the first person who was going to move was being complicated because the house moved was offices, but they never told me anything at first. Also my husband and my daughter went to ask if they needed to pay the land before installing the mobile house and they said that not only with the deposit we had to stop it, those were their words after 15 days they came out with one more thing we had to pay the difference and then pay me a month, to which no contract was stipulated that. And yet we paid the month and the difference when it was about to move the mobile home exactly on the right days to do it, they started to make it complicated for me. First they said that the house was not suitable, I understood that, but I told him that I could remodel it to make it to live, that was not a problem for me and then they put the address that in the mobile house was not wind zone 2, to which I told him how it is not. From wind zone, 2 if the inspector already only inspection and from this county to the other county are the same area and have the same areas, I felt that they started to go around a lot and yet I told him, let me install it. You'll realize that I won't use that house as a business, the thing that made me spend a lot of money, I paid 2 more months rent for the parking, without installing it, respecting its conditions, and when I went to talk to the inspector showing the text messages, they called me that I was a slanderer, and liar, and that I was saying things that were not correct For me, that are people who don't know how to do business, they don't know how to take care of the neighborhood they just want the money they do, and without knowing Invest to take advantage of simple low-income people. I recommend that you have patience and look for another place is better and not do business with one type of people, as well as them taken advantage of. - ruth Hernandez (OBFCS)

Hickory Village Mobile Home Park Introduce

Hickory Village Mobile Home Park, located at 1403 River Rd, Elizabeth City, NC 27909, USA, serves as a long-term residential community for mobile home owners. Contactable via phone at (252) 335-5141 or +1 252-335-5141, this establishment caters to individuals and families seeking a permanent living solution within a mobile home setting. While the platform category "RV Parks Near Me" often implies short-term stays for recreational vehicles, Hickory Village is a traditional mobile home park, providing leased lots for manufactured homes, distinguishing it from transient RV campgrounds. Its primary function is to offer a community environment for mobile home residents.

Environment and Setting

The environment of Hickory Village Mobile Home Park, as gleaned from customer reviews, presents a dynamic picture of a community undergoing change. One review paints a positive outlook, stating, "There has been a lot of work done and more to come. The residents are seeing the changes and are doing there part to help out. Nothing is perfect and Rome wasn't built in a day. With owners, City and residents helping pick up and this will be a community that's welcoming and safe for all!" This suggests an ongoing effort to improve the park's physical environment, implying a commitment from both management and residents to enhance the living conditions. This proactive approach points towards a developing and improving community atmosphere, where collaboration is leading to positive transformations.

Conversely, another detailed review highlights significant past challenges, particularly regarding the process of moving a mobile home into the park and the perceived inconsistencies in communication and policy from the management. This review describes a highly negative experience involving unexpected payments, changing requirements regarding mobile home suitability (e.g., "wind zone 2" specifications), and a feeling of being taken advantage of. While this review reflects a past negative experience, it provides critical insight into potential challenges related to management practices and transparency.

Given the location on River Road in Elizabeth City, NC, the park likely offers a setting that combines residential convenience with access to local amenities and potentially the natural beauty of the Pasquotank River area. The current state of the park, as suggested by the more recent positive review, indicates a community actively working towards becoming "welcoming and safe for all."

Services and Features

As a mobile home park, Hickory Village would typically provide essential services to its residents, focusing on lot leasing and fundamental utilities. These generally include:

  • Mobile Home Lot Leases: Residents lease a designated plot of land where their mobile home is situated, for which they pay a recurring fee. This forms the core service of the park.
  • Utility Access: Provision of necessary hookups for water, sewer, and electricity to each mobile home lot. The reliability and cost of these services are crucial for residents.
  • Community Management: The presence of park management is central to its operation, overseeing rules, collecting fees, and maintaining common areas. The reviews indicate that management's approach and communication have been areas of both concern and improvement.
  • Community Improvement Initiatives: The positive review suggests that the park is actively engaged in "a lot of work" to enhance its environment. This implies efforts in landscaping, infrastructure repair, or general cleanup, making the community more appealing.

Specific amenities beyond these basic services are not detailed in the provided information. However, the mention of "owners, City and residents helping pick up" implies a collective effort towards cleanliness and safety, which can be considered an indirect feature of the community's evolving environment. The challenging experience of one customer concerning mobile home suitability (e.g., office conversion, wind zone regulations) highlights that the park likely has specific criteria and inspection processes for homes being moved in, which are critical for maintaining community standards and safety compliance.

Promotional Information and Considerations for Prospective Residents

For individuals and families searching within the "RV Parks Near Me" category who are specifically interested in long-term mobile home living, Hickory Village Mobile Home Park presents an option in Elizabeth City, NC. The promotional information for this park is best understood by balancing the positive outlook of recent improvements with the detailed account of past difficulties.

The positive review suggests a community that is actively improving, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and collective pride. This ongoing transformation, where residents and management are working together, can be a strong draw for those seeking a developing and more engaged community. It indicates that the park aims to be "welcoming and safe for all," which are highly desirable attributes for any residential area. Potential residents might find value in being part of a community that is striving for betterment.

However, the extensively negative review concerning management's communication, perceived lack of transparency, and financial stipulations (e.g., un-contracted payments, issues with mobile home suitability) serves as a crucial caution. This feedback underscores the importance of:

  • Thorough Due Diligence: Prospective residents should contact the park directly to understand all current rules, regulations, and financial obligations in writing.
  • Clear Communication: All agreements, especially regarding deposits, rent, and requirements for mobile home conditions (e.g., type, age, zone compliance), should be clearly stipulated in a contract before any commitments are made.
  • On-Site Visit: Visiting the park in person to observe the current conditions, the level of cleanliness, and the general atmosphere is highly recommended. This allows individuals to assess the "changes" that are being made and determine if the environment aligns with their expectations.
  • Asking Direct Questions: Inquiring about the specific process for bringing a mobile home into the park, including inspections and required permits, is vital to avoid unexpected complications.

In conclusion, Hickory Village Mobile Home Park appears to be a community in transition, with a notable effort towards improvement recognized by some residents. For those seeking long-term mobile home residency in Elizabeth City, NC, it offers a potentially evolving environment. However, prospective residents should proceed with careful inquiry and ensure all terms are transparent and contractually binding, drawing lessons from past customer experiences to secure a clear and satisfactory agreement for their housing needs.
