Moondance RV and Campground Introduce
When searching for "RV parks near me" in the Grand Junction, Colorado area, Moondance RV and Campground, located at 774 23 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505, USA, is one option to consider. They can be reached at (970) 245-0769 or +1 970-245-0769 for inquiries about reservations and availability. It's important to note that while the name includes "Campground," recent reviews highlight significant differences between the experience for RVers and tent campers.
Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at Moondance RV and Campground appears to be somewhat polarized depending on the type of accommodation. While the owner and host were described as "nice enough" by one reviewer, the quality and location of the tent sites received considerable criticism in both available reviews.
One reviewer who utilized a tent site described it and the other tent site as "less than desirable." They noted that the tent sites were surrounded by "scrap campers" and featured uneven ground covered with astroturf. This reviewer felt that while the site might suffice in a pinch, it did not feel safe. On a positive note, they mentioned that a refund was given promptly and without any issues, suggesting a degree of customer service responsiveness when concerns are raised.
Another reviewer echoed these sentiments, stating that their experience was a "massive disappointment" specifically for tent camping. They indicated that while the park might be suitable for RVs, the tent sites were located at the very back of the property, adjacent to a "scrapyard" and a collection of "abandoned campers" that they found "spooky." This description paints a picture of a potentially unkempt and visually unappealing area for tent campers.
Adding to the negative experience for tent campers, this reviewer also noted that the sewer was located right beside the tent sites, and the lids did not seal properly, resulting in an "odorous breeze" throughout the evening. This raises significant concerns about the sanitation and overall comfort of the tent camping area. Exposure to unpleasant odors from sewage is a major drawback for any camping experience.
Furthermore, the location of Moondance RV and Campground near the highway appears to be a significant source of noise pollution. The reviewer mentioned that the traffic noise kept them from sleeping for most of the night. This is an important factor for those seeking a peaceful and restful camping experience. Proximity to a busy highway can detract significantly from the enjoyment of an outdoor stay.
Despite the overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding the tent sites and their location, one positive aspect mentioned by the second reviewer was the availability of bathrooms and showers that were described as "decently clean and nice." This suggests that while the camping environment itself may be subpar, the essential facilities for hygiene were at least adequately maintained. However, the presence of clean facilities may not be sufficient to compensate for the significant drawbacks of the tent sites' location and condition.
The picture added by the second reviewer, showing the view from their campsite, likely corroborates their description of the scrapyard and abandoned campers, further illustrating the undesirable environment surrounding the tent camping area.
Based on the available reviews, it appears that Moondance RV and Campground may primarily cater to RV travelers, and the tent camping facilities are not given the same level of care or consideration. The environment for tent campers is described as being in an undesirable location, surrounded by scrap and abandoned vehicles, and plagued by sewer odors and highway noise. The uneven ground and astroturf mentioned by one reviewer also suggest a lack of investment in creating comfortable and natural tent camping spaces.
For individuals searching for "RV parks near me" in Grand Junction with RVs, the reviews do not offer specific insights into the quality of the RV sites, amenities offered to RVers (such as hookups, space size, etc.), or the overall environment of the RV section of the park. Therefore, RV travelers would need to seek additional information to determine if Moondance RV and Campground meets their needs.
Information regarding services and features beyond the bathrooms and showers is limited in the provided reviews. Potential guests, especially RVers, would need to inquire about amenities such as Wi-Fi access, laundry facilities, recreational areas, and the availability of full hookups (water, electricity, sewer) at the RV sites. The lack of information in the reviews makes it difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of the park's offerings.
Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional information or special offers in the available reviews. Those interested in staying at Moondance RV and Campground, whether in an RV or potentially considering tent camping despite the negative feedback, should contact the park directly to inquire about rates, availability, and any current promotions.
In conclusion, while Moondance RV and Campground in Grand Junction, Colorado, may offer a functional option for RV travelers (though this is not explicitly detailed in the reviews), the experience for tent campers appears to be significantly negative due to the undesirable location of the tent sites near a scrapyard and abandoned vehicles, issues with sewer odors, and significant noise from the nearby highway. The tent sites themselves are also described as uneven and covered with astroturf. While the bathrooms and showers are noted as decently clean, this single positive aspect does not seem to outweigh the numerous drawbacks for tent campers. Individuals specifically looking for "RV parks near me" for tent camping should likely consider other options in the Grand Junction area based on this feedback. RV travelers should seek additional information about the RV facilities and amenities to determine if Moondance RV and Campground meets their needs.

Owner and host were nice enough. However, the two tent sites are less than desirable with scrap campers surrounding the tent sites and uneven ground with astro turf. It could do in a pinch but didn't seem safe. Refund was given promptly and without any issues.
Jun 18, 2024 · C PThis place was a massive disappointment. If you have an RV this place would be fine but we were tenting and their tent sites are at the very back of the property by a scrapyard and also a bunch of abandoned campers that were spooky. Right beside the tent sites was the sewer and the lids didn't seal it off so we had an odorous breeze all evening. It is located right close to the highway and the traffic noise kept us from sleeping most of the night. It was by far the worst camping experience I ever had. They did have bathrooms and showers that were decently clean and nice but that's the only positive thing that was there. The picture I added is the view from our campsite
