Rest-A-While RV Park Reviews
We stayed here for 2 nights over Veterans Day weekend on the water side. I was extremely pleased with the park and the surrounding area. We were lucky to see a whale grabbing geoducks and oysters for breakfast which was a really amazing experience. The park is right off of US 101, but we didn’t hear much road noise inside our RV. I will be coming back and I recommend that you visit as well!
Nov 12, 2024 · Jeff AdamsThis RV park was very accommodating. All the employees were very easy to deal with and made my stay a home away from home. Laundry was always clean and the water views were very nice. The tides came in and went back out many times while I was there. Many people did muscle hunting on the extra large shore.
Sep 29, 2024 · Will DrakeI'm in the off season, so much is not happening besides rain. Had an awesome Christmas with staff. Place is quiet with a flowing river directly behind your RV. Looking for a welcoming spot that is inclusive, this here is it. And did I mention the bigger river across the street. Oh yes, it is so beautiful just to look at day and night. No complaints here. My husband swears by the steaming hot showers. Everyone mines their business but are friendly when approached. Good experience for me I must say.
Jan 06, 2024 · Jade PhoenixThis park was a month-long stay for us. The park is right on the highway, but no noise on the forest side a bit of the road. No sidewalks or bike lanes on the highway around and a 5 min drive to actual town of Hoodsport. Laundry and bathroom facilities are quite outdated and needed multiple times of drying to finish loads.Spot was large, which was nice, but the grounds we a bit overgrown and the slab cracked. Didn't sit out much.Pictures on the website and Google that we saw before going appeared to be a bit outdated.
Apr 01, 2024 · JessMy mistake. Google Earth indicated the sites to be narrow and their proximity to the road being scary close but I thought if it was that bad, they wouldn’t have decent reviews.I was wrong. I booked and paid for 6 days at Site 13 before realizing how wrong I was for choosing a beachfront site.First the good: The view of the channel is gorgeous. The smell of the salt air while watching the otters dive for shellfish is intoxicating. The site was relatively level and clean and the office will allow you to pick up a package there. Just don’t bother them with delivery inquiries, walk in and check per their written rules. There’s a picnic bench at each site and a concrete slab. Now the less than good:The beachfront sites are literally on the shoulder of the 101. The rear of our coach was scary close to the road with just 8 foot of shoulder between us and the pavement. The 101 is the only major North/South route on the coast and the RV Park is on a nice corner so you get to listen to logging trucks using their Jake brakes from dawn to dusk. Motorcycles with straight pipes made their presence known as well. Traffic rolls through there 24/7/365 so don’t take a beachfront site if traffic noise akin to being parked on the shoulder of a freeway bothers you. I expected *some* traffic noise but since they charge more for beachfront than not, I wasn’t prepared for the volume but what came next was totally unexpected:The local transit busses used that same narrow strip of shoulder between the rear of my coach and the highway to load/offload passengers. Yes, they actually traverse across the rear of sites 11, 12 and 13 with the city transit bus for a bus stop. When I was pulling in, I noticed the slides for our neighbor’s rig in 14 were right up to the site separation line and thought he might have crowded 13 to get more space between him and 15. Once I got my slides out, I could see what he was facing. The sites are simply too narrow. If you have slides on both sides, you will fit but your awning will be a foot away from your neighbor at most and your slides will be close to theirs as well.Because of the wall to wall spacing, there was not enough room to pull out of the site without asking folks to move their cars so we had to exit by backing straight out and up onto the often busy 101. We left early in the morning to prevent getting center punched trying to get out. It’s not a big deal, just be aware if you’re driving anything long.Water - On two separate days we lost water. The pressure throughout our stay was low and the flow rate was no greater than 2.0 GPM at best. To shower, we had to use our pump and fresh water tank as the flaccid spray otherwise out of our shower head was useless.Electric - The power went out once during our stay but had tolerable variability the rest of the time. The 50 amp connection was relatively tight.Sewer - Threaded connections, seemed to have good drainage. Because of the water situation, flow capacity surely wasn’t a concern.Although their website provides links to Good Sam which typically implies affiliation, Good Sam members don’t get a discount. That seems a bit misleading but my mistake for not clarifying why they link to GS but not Passport America, Escapees or other discount memberships.Lastly, this business appears to accommodate long term stays and the “residents” were easy to identify as they use unoccupied sites as either parking spaces or high speed driveways. Site 12 next to us was a popular exit until another coach arrived….TLDR: If you like narrow sites scary close to the highway that are used as bus stops and exits, this is a great place! I’d recommend you look at the wooded sites behind the office though if you prefer something a bit more traditional….UPDATE: The Operating Manager left a voicemail apology for the missed expectations. I thought that was a kind gesture so I added a star since she didn’t have to do that. It doesn’t make a big rig fit better or stop the transit busses but it’s a nice gesture.
