Rock Shadows, 55+ RV Stays and Homes Community Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" or a welcoming 55+ mobile home and RV community in Apache Junction, Arizona, Rock Shadows, located at 600 S Idaho Rd, Apache Junction, AZ 85119, USA, presents itself as a large and active option. Reviews from recent visitors highlight the cleanliness of the park, the reasonable size of the spaces, and a strong sense of community, making it a potentially attractive destination for both short and long-term stays.
One reviewer who stayed for a week while traveling home to Nevada described Rock Shadows as a "very clean park" with "reasonable sized spaces." This positive initial impression speaks to the upkeep and general environment of the community. For RVers, practical considerations are often paramount, and this reviewer provided valuable insights regarding the site layout. They noted that the utility hookups (electric and water) are located on the passenger side of the RV, advising visitors to ensure they have sufficiently long hoses to reach. Additionally, the sewer dump is situated on the driver's side, a common configuration but useful information for planning setup. All the sites at Rock Shadows are back-in, which is typical for many RV parks and requires maneuvering skills for parking.
For those traveling with a tow vehicle, such as a Jeep behind a motorhome, Rock Shadows appears to be accommodating. The reviewer specifically mentioned that the park provides adequate space upon pulling in to unhook the towed vehicle and also sufficient space when leaving to hook back up. This thoughtful design for those with larger setups adds to the convenience and ease of staying at Rock Shadows.
Pet owners will appreciate the presence of a "gravel dog park" within the community. While the reviewer noted that it was "not too bad," they expressed a preference for a little grass. This suggests that while a dedicated space for dogs exists, there might be room for improvement in terms of amenities for pets. However, the availability of a dog park at a large community is still a significant benefit for those traveling with or residing with canine companions.
One of the most striking aspects of Rock Shadows, as indicated by the reviews, is its size. The park is described as "a big park with over 1000 sites." This large scale suggests a vibrant and potentially active community with a significant number of residents and visitors. Such a large park might offer a wider range of social opportunities and activities compared to smaller parks.
The strong sense of community at Rock Shadows is further emphasized by a review that offers a "HUGE shoutout to the organizing committee for the Canada Day celebration!" This enthusiastic message highlights the park's commitment to organizing and hosting community events that bring residents and visitors together. The reviewer, a Canadian, expressed that they and other Canadians were "definitely ready to celebrate and to proudly wear the red and white!" This indicates a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that embraces the diverse backgrounds of its residents and guests. The effort put into organizing such events, relying on "many volunteer hours," suggests a strong and engaged community spirit within Rock Shadows.
Given its designation as a "55+ RV Stays and Homes Community," Rock Shadows caters specifically to individuals aged 55 and over. This age-restricted environment often fosters a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere, with activities and amenities tailored to this demographic. The mix of "RV Stays and Homes Community" implies that Rock Shadows accommodates both temporary RV visitors and long-term residents living in mobile homes, creating a diverse yet age-specific community.
While the reviews provide insights into the cleanliness, space sizes, pet facilities, and community events, they do not offer specific details regarding other amenities or services that Rock Shadows might provide. It is common for 55+ RV and mobile home communities to offer a range of facilities such as clubhouses, swimming pools, laundry facilities, recreational areas (e.g., shuffleboard, bocce ball), and organized social activities. Interested individuals should contact Rock Shadows directly using the provided phone numbers, (480) 210-7133 and +1 480-210-7133, to inquire about the full list of amenities and services available.
Similarly, the reviews do not mention any specific promotional information for Rock Shadows. It is possible that the community offers special rates for longer stays, seasonal discounts, or incentives for new residents. Direct inquiry with the management would be the best way to obtain information about any current promotions.

In conclusion, Rock Shadows appears to be a large, clean, and well-organized 55+ RV stays and homes community in Apache Junction, Arizona. Reviews highlight the reasonable size of the RV spaces, the accommodating setup for tow vehicles, the presence of a dog park, and a strong sense of community evidenced by organized events like the Canada Day celebration. We were headed home to Reno NV and decided to stay here for a week. Very clean park with reasonable sized spaces. Make sure you have long electric and water hoses as the hookups are on the passenger side. The sewer dump is on the drivers side. All the sites are back in.We tow a jeep behind our motorhome and they have space when you pull in to unhook and space when you leave to hook back up which is nice. They have a gravel dog park which is not too bad but would like a little grass. It is a big park with over 1000 sites. We would stay here again.
Mar 25, 2023 · Steven PageA HUGE shoutout to the organizing committee for the Canada Day celebration! We recognize that it takes many volunteer hours to pull off an event like this. Us Canadians were all definitely ready to celebrate and to proudly wear the red and white! Again, thank you! 👏👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦Ray and Myrna Keen
Feb 28, 2025 · Myrna KeenThe new pickle ball courts are in and so nice! I hope to have one of our lovely residents teach me how to play as soon as it cools off a bit!
Jun 20, 2024 · Kim KelleyAfter two years returning to Rock Shadows RV Resort for the winter we chose to not return next season. It is a Corporate run park and the new Manager Tracy is hard to deal with. Budget cuts and laying off Paid workers then wanting to replace them with volunteers. Management is not public friendly. We have many, many friends there so this was no easy decision. And many others have made this same decision.
Apr 02, 2025 · Steve MossAbsolutely wonderful community. Most amenities are not taken care of very well. Other than by residents. The roads are in complete disrepair. There general no security and absolutely no grate. The management and staff are very unfriendly and rude. They are not to be trusted. They will tell you what they want you to hear and do what they want. They don’t pay well and don’t pay properly for overtime and break federal law. The place has been under construction for almost 2 years with no general contractor on site. Most of the craftsmanship is nonexistent. This seems to hold true to most cobblestone properties at least in AZ.
