Southwest Village Manufactured Home Community Introduce
When searching for "RV parks near me," you might encounter listings that also include information about manufactured home communities, as these can sometimes offer long-term residency options that might appeal to those considering an extended stay in their RV or looking for a more permanent housing solution. Southwest Village Manufactured Home Community, located at 2301 SW Sheridan Rd, Lawton, OK 73505, is one such community. You can reach them at (580) 917-8051 or their mobile number +1 580-917-8051. Based on recent online reviews, this community appears to be undergoing a significant transformation, but also faces some serious challenges that potential residents should be aware of.
One recent review offers an optimistic perspective on the future of Southwest Village. According to this feedback, the entire park has been "leveled, cleaned up, rebuilt," with new homes being added at a continuous pace. The reviewer, who stated they would have advised staying away a year prior, now expresses serious consideration about moving into the community, citing the new ownership, new homes, and clean, organized lots as key improvements. This suggests that significant efforts have been made to revitalize the property and create a more appealing living environment.
This positive review also highlights a potential benefit for families with younger children: the community is reportedly within the Bishop school district for children in the 8th grade or younger. For older children, the default is Lawton High School, but the reviewer mentions the possibility of using school choice to attend Eisenhower or MacArthur High School, providing flexibility for families with teenagers.
However, a starkly contrasting and deeply concerning review paints a very different picture of the current situation at Southwest Village. This feedback alleges that the owner, who resides in California, is neglectful of the tenants and that the electrical wiring in the community is not up to city code. The reviewer further claims that the electricity is in the process of being shut off, a situation that prompted the local news station KSWO 7 to report on it and the Fire Department to go door-to-door informing residents. This situation is described as affecting elderly residents and families with infants, raising serious safety concerns.
The second review goes on to accuse the owner(s) of being "slumlords" and suggests they should be arrested for endangerment. It also alleges that the owner has been trying to evict everyone and is now allowing the city to handle the displacement due to the unsafe living conditions. The reviewer strongly recommends a class-action lawsuit against the owner and suggests that the tenants should be placed in motels until they can be safely relocated. This feedback paints a dire picture of the living conditions and the management's alleged disregard for the well-being of the residents.
Considering these two very different accounts, it is evident that Southwest Village Manufactured Home Community is currently in a state of flux and faces significant challenges. While one review indicates positive redevelopment and potential benefits like access to certain school districts, the other raises severe concerns about safety and the habitability of the community due to alleged electrical issues and neglectful management.
For local users searching for "mobile home parks near me" or considering a move to Southwest Village, it is crucial to approach this community with extreme caution and to seek the most current and reliable information available. The stark contrast between the two reviews suggests that conditions may be rapidly changing, or that different parts of the community might be experiencing different realities. The alleged electrical issues and the involvement of the Fire Department and local news are particularly serious and warrant thorough investigation before making any decisions about residency.
Potential residents should attempt to verify the current status of the redevelopment efforts, the condition of the infrastructure (especially the electrical system), and the management's responsiveness to tenant concerns. Contacting the city of Lawton's housing authority or building inspection department might provide valuable insights into the safety and code compliance of the property. Additionally, speaking with current residents (if possible) could offer a more balanced and up-to-date perspective on the living conditions and management practices.
Given the serious allegations in one of the reviews, it would be prudent for anyone considering moving to Southwest Village to inquire about the resolution of the electrical issues and the overall safety of the community. Understanding the current management's approach to addressing these problems is essential. While the prospect of new homes and a revitalized community might be appealing, ensuring a safe and habitable living environment should be the top priority.
For those who might have considered Southwest Village in the past based on older information, the recent reviews indicate a need for a reassessment. The positive changes mentioned in one review are encouraging, but they must be weighed against the serious safety concerns raised in the other. Until there is clear evidence that the alleged electrical issues have been fully resolved and that the management is prioritizing the well-being of all residents, proceeding with caution is strongly advised.
In conclusion, Southwest Village Manufactured Home Community in Lawton, OK, appears to be a community undergoing significant redevelopment with the potential for improvement. However, recent reports of serious electrical issues and concerns about the owner's management raise significant red flags. Local users searching for "mobile home parks near me" should carefully consider this information and conduct thorough due diligence, including verifying the current safety and living conditions, before making any decisions about residing in this community. The contrasting reviews highlight the importance of seeking the most up-to-date information from multiple reliable sources.

Southwest Village Manufactured Home Community Reviews
This entire park has been leveled, cleaned up, rebuilt, and new homes are being added all the time. If you asked me a year ago I'd say stay away, but with the new ownership, new homes, and clean organized lots, I'm seriously considering moving here. Bishop schools if your children are 8th grade or younger. For older, kids, defaults to Lawton High, but you can use school choice if you prefer Eisenhower or MacArthur.
Jan 14, 2025 · Alan MooreThe Owner lives in California and does Not care at all about the tenants, the Wiring is Not up to city code and is right now in the process of All Electricity being Shut Off. KSWO 7 was out this morning to do a story on this. Fire Department went for to door informing everyone about the current situation. There are Elderly as well as Families with Infants living on the property. The Owner(s) are SLUMLORDS and should be arrested for Endangerment as well as should be made to put his tenants in motels until he can relocate everyone! Owner has been trying to evict everyone for a while and now he’s letting the city do it for him. Shame on the owner and Class Action Lawsuit should be filed!
Jul 28, 2021 · John BlevinsIt's disgusting. Leaking roofs that flood walls and grow black mold even run down the inside of the windows. Majority of the windows are sealed as one piece of glass so you can't put in AC unit or get any fresh air. Doors won't close or lock to the entrance. Roaches and spider infestations are beyond treating. Mice that make themselves at home. A landlord that's never even around to see the properties. Just collects rent and harasses you if your a week late. Even threatening. Wouldn't recommend living here unless you completely hit rock bottom and desperately need a roof over your head
