One minor drawback mentioned by a visitor, particularly relevant for those planning summer stays, was the late opening of the pool. Despite lovely weather during their visit, the pool was not yet open and was not scheduled to open for nearly a month. The reviewer contrasted this with another nearby campground that had its heated pool already operational, suggesting a potential missed opportunity for Sun Retreats Gun Lake to enhance the guest experience during pleasant weather. However, it's important to note that this review was likely from the off-season, and the pool's operational schedule may vary depending on the time of year.

This prime location offers easy access for travelers coming from either direction and places the park within a reasonable driving distance of various attractions and amenities in both cities. While the proximity to a major highway does result in some audible traffic noise, reviewers have generally found it to be non-bothersome, considering it a reasonable trade-off for the exceptional convenience of the location. This accessibility makes Sun Retreats Gun Lake an attractive "RV park near me" for those traveling through the region or local residents seeking a nearby getaway.
The grounds of Sun Retreats Gun Lake are described as "meticulously maintained," further emphasizing the park's commitment to providing a pleasant and well-kept environment for its guests. RVers will appreciate the level concrete pull-through sites, offering ease of parking and ample space, even accommodating tow vehicles comfortably. The pleasant demeanor of the staff is also consistently highlighted, contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere throughout the park.
One reviewer mentioned utilizing their Passport America Membership, indicating that Sun Retreats Gun Lake participates in this discount program, which could be a significant benefit for members looking for affordable "RV parks near me." This participation suggests a commitment to providing value to a wide range of RV travelers.
While one review was from a mid-week, off-season stay, limiting their ability to comment on the full range of activities typically offered, the positive feedback regarding staff, cleanliness, facilities, dining, and location strongly suggests that Sun Retreats Gun Lake provides a comprehensive and enjoyable RV park experience. The emphasis on family-friendly amenities, such as the playground and organized crafts, makes it an ideal choice for families looking for a memorable getaway.

Sun Retreats Gun Lake Reviews
Our family had a great time at Sun Retreats Gun Lake! It was our first time here and the staff was super friendly. Our son needed to complete a day of online driver Ed training and the last at the Cafe made sure he had access to the store at 8am so that he could access a table and the wifi. She was so kind! The food we ordered at the onsite Cafe was delicious. We had burgers, pizza, walking tacos, drinks, and ice cream! The facilities are very clean and well kept. Showers were clean as well as bathroo stalls. The playground was well taken care of and offered lots of fun. There were games tonrent from the store as well at no cost. Shuffleboard, basketballs, pickles all supplies, and more! They had onsite crafts and activities for the kids. The only downside was that the weather was lovely and the pool was empty and wouldn't be opening for almost the entire month. A campground we like just north of here has their heated poll open and running already. A missed opportunity for certain.
May 05, 2024 · Alexandra HowardThis campground is located just off US-131 conveniently located between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. Though you can hear some traffic noise, it is not bothersome - a reasonable price for the convenience of the location. The grounds are meticulously maintained. We had a level concrete pull-through site with ample room for our tow vehicle. Staff was pleasant. We were there mid-week during the off-season, so we can't comment on the activities. We were able to use our Passport American Membership.
Nov 13, 2023 · Susan SchwadererWe stayed in early May and the park was absolutely packed. I was impressed how clean and well kept everything was. There are a lot of rules and you could tell. There were no out of control golf carts with yelling teenagers or rowdy drunk adults. Everybody was courteous and polite. There are a number of seasonal sites but you have to look hard to find them. They are interspersed with the rest of the community and are maintained very clean and orderly. This was a nice surprise. Our site was paved, level, and was easily wide enough for our camper and stairs. We did not have a patio but our "lawn" was nicely maintained and spacious. The hookups were in good working order except for the water. We had 2 hose bibs; one leaked slightly and the other needed a screwdriver to turn it on. We used the one that dribbled with no issue. I liked that the connections were not low on the pole. The pole was strangely placed at the front of the site next to our truck. Water was not an issue but I had to break out the 50amp extension cord to reach. I should be happy I got a workout! The sewer connection was PVC and in good shape. Be forewarned the place is a maze. Keep the map in your vehicle. Finding sites is not a problem because there are signs, however leaving is another issue. There are no "Exit this way" signs. In an emergency it could be a real problem. I found by total accident that if you fire up Waze it will guide you out of the park. Google not so much. If I had one thing that annoyed me the dumpsters are only at the front by the office, on the way IN. When you are leaving with camper in tow you have to swing back into the incoming lanes to drop your trash and do a U-turn in the parking lot to head back to the exit. For such a large campground to not have a trash repository in the back near the store and bathrooms seems a missed opportunity. We will come back this is a very nice park! We camped at Sun Retreats Gun Lake in a Travel Trailer.
May 09, 2023 · RandyPerfect stay with kids. We paid $35 per night for 2 nights after our Passport America discount. Full hookups. 50amp, water (48psi), and sewer.Roads are paved and plenty wide for turning and maneuvering even our big 42ft 5th wheel. Sites are flat, level cement pads large enough to back in with plenty of space in front and on the side to park. Grass surrounding the sites was well manicured. The whole park is clean and tidy. There were lots of kids when we stayed (last few days of summer) but that's a good sign for us since we have little kids. We enjoyed the pool and the trampoline.Location isn't right next to very much but it's just a short drive to a Meijer grocery store and we found plenty of fun things to do within a 30-45 minute drive. We love Sun RV resorts. They're always some of our favorite stays!
Sep 05, 2020 · So WickesitedWe stayed at the this campground last month, and absolutely loved it. Since my husband is working from home, and my kids have been doing homeschool because of COVID, we have hit the road and been traveling as much as possible. It seems like a safer solution to stay in cabins and on campgrounds as opposed to hotels so that's what we have been doing. We have stayed at several campgrounds and this by far was one of our most favorite. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin which was set up great, had a lot of space (we are a family of 5 with 2 dogs), and an awesome screened in porch that was right on the lake - so peaceful. My kids loved the bunk beds. This was one of the cleaner cabins we have stayed in .The property is beautiful. The activities are well thought out, and very fun for the kids. The one lady (taller one) that runs most of the activities makes the experience that much better - she is so sweet and has fun with the kids. They did everything from rock painting to bingo to sports games. The amenities were all super clean. The staff was excellent. Definitely worth renting the golf cart if you come. I honestly can't think of any negatives. Thank you so much for making a memorable trip for my family :)!
