Sunlake Estates Introduce
Welcome to an introduction to Sunlake Estates, a 55+ gated mobile home community located at 1045 Great Lakes Blvd, Grand Island, FL 32735, USA. For local users exploring housing options, particularly those within the 55+ demographic who may encounter this listing while searching within the broader category of "RV parks near me" (perhaps considering a transition to a more permanent, community-oriented setting with recreational amenities), this overview aims to present the available details about Sunlake Estates as a potential long-term residential option in the Grand Island, Florida area.
Situated in Grand Island, Florida, Sunlake Estates offers a specific residential address for those seeking a secure and age-restricted community. The provided address allows prospective residents to assess the property's location relative to the natural surroundings of the Great Lakes region and its proximity to local amenities in Grand Island and nearby towns. The inclusion of phone numbers, (352) 350-1320 and +1 352-350-1320, provides direct contact information for individuals interested in learning more about residency opportunities and the lifestyle offered at Sunlake Estates.
When evaluating a 55+ mobile home park for potential long-term living, understanding the environment, the services offered, the features of the community, and the social dynamics are key considerations. In the case of Sunlake Estates, we have access to direct customer feedback which provides a nuanced perspective on the living experience.
Several reviewers highlight the positive aspects of Sunlake Estates. It is described as a "safe little haven" and a "safe, clean place to live," with the added security of being a "gated" community. The park is also noted for being "quiet," which can be appealing to retirees seeking a peaceful environment. One reviewer mentioned that "Sun takes good care of the park," suggesting that the management is attentive to the upkeep and maintenance of the community.
The community offers a "typical package of recreational amenities a lot of retirees can find attractive," as mentioned by one reviewer. Another resident of approximately five years enjoys the "pool and Recreation Center" and specifically appreciates the "sauna," as well as opportunities for jogging and lifting weights. This indicates that Sunlake Estates provides facilities for an active and engaging lifestyle for its residents.
The size of the lots is also mentioned as a positive feature, with one reviewer noting that they are "residential home sized lots," which could offer more space and a greater sense of privacy compared to some other mobile home parks.
However, there are also important considerations raised by other reviewers. One former resident described the location as "in the middle of nowhere" and "too far away from civilization," noting that "anything of interest you want to do outside the park adds an hour to your trip." This highlights a potential drawback for those who value easy access to shopping, entertainment, and other amenities in more populated areas.
Another significant point of feedback concerns the social dynamics within the community. While acknowledging that there are "some very good people who live in the community," one reviewer noted that "the size of the neighborhood can lend itself to an uncomfortable situation for newer residents or younger retirees who like being social." They further elaborated that "events and activities are resident run by the same people who have been running them for 15 years and they are not always welcoming to new folks." This suggests a potentially insular social environment where it might be challenging for newcomers to integrate and feel fully welcomed.
This social dynamic may explain why the same reviewer "watched several younger retired couples (and individuals} buy and then sell in there pretty quickly," indicating that the community culture might not be a good fit for everyone, particularly those seeking a more open and inclusive social scene.
Another concern raised by a former resident was the issue of infrastructure, specifically mentioning that "The water lines broke too frequently," and they "had to pay for an additional water service to have clean water every day." This is a significant maintenance issue that prospective residents should inquire about to understand the current state of the water system and any associated costs or inconveniences.
Based on the available customer reviews, Sunlake Estates offers a safe, clean, and quiet 55+ gated community with appealing recreational amenities and spacious lots. However, potential drawbacks include its relatively isolated location, a potentially challenging social environment for newcomers, and past issues with the water infrastructure. It appears to be a community that might appeal to those seeking a peaceful and secure, yet potentially less socially dynamic, retirement lifestyle and who are comfortable with a more rural setting.
To gain a comprehensive understanding of Sunlake Estates, prospective residents should proactively reach out to the management using the provided phone numbers to inquire about various aspects, including:
- Availability of homes for sale or lease and the range of housing options.
- Monthly fees and what services and amenities are included.
- Details about the recreational amenities and any associated schedules or rules.
- The nature of the resident-run activities and how welcoming they are to new residents.
- The current status of the water infrastructure and any measures taken to address past issues.
- The proximity of the community to shopping, healthcare, and other essential services in Grand Island or nearby towns.
- The rules and regulations of the community, including any specific guidelines for residents.
- Any security measures beyond the gated entrance.
- The overall demographics and social atmosphere of the community.
- Any available promotional offers or incentives for new residents.
Visiting Sunlake Estates in person would be beneficial to assess the environment, the condition of the homes and common areas, and the distance to local amenities. If possible, speaking with current residents (outside of management presence) could provide valuable insights into the daily living experience and the social dynamics within the community.
It is important to weigh the positive aspects of safety, cleanliness, and amenities against the potential drawbacks of location and social integration to determine if Sunlake Estates is the right fit for individual needs and preferences.
Promotional information is not included in the provided data. Therefore, interested parties should specifically ask the park management about any current promotions, special offers, or incentives for new residents. This direct inquiry will ensure that potential residents are aware of any financial benefits of choosing Sunlake Estates.
In conclusion, Sunlake Estates in Grand Island, FL, offers a 55+ gated community that prioritizes safety and tranquility with a range of recreational amenities and spacious lots. However, its relatively isolated location and a potentially insular social environment, along with past infrastructure concerns, are important factors to consider. Prospective residents are encouraged to contact the management directly and conduct thorough due diligence to determine if the lifestyle and environment of Sunlake Estates align with their expectations for long-term retirement living in Lake County.

Sunlake Estates Reviews
We lived here for a couple of years, it's a safe little haven in the middle of nowhere. A 55 plus community with a typical package of recreational amenities a lot of retirees can find attractive. It's quiet, safe and gated. Sun takes good care of the park. When you go through with a realtor it seems like a great place to live because it has residential home sized lots. There are some very good people who live in the community but the size of the neighborhood can lend itself to an uncomfortable situation for newer residents or younger retirees who like being social. People should understand coming in here events and activities are resident run by the same people who have been running them for 15 years and they are not always welcoming to new folks. We watched several younger retired couples (and individuals} buy and then sell in there pretty quickly.Safe, clean place to live but not for everyone. We left because of the distance to shopping, being too far away from civilization and the small village old guard culture. It was just a bad fit for us. Anything of interest you want to do outside the park adds an hour to your trip. The water lines broke too frequently. (We had to pay for a additional water service to have clean water every day)
Feb 28, 2025 · Maureen KennedyI've lived here approximately 5 years. Sunlake is a quiet, safe community to live. I enjoy the pool and Recreation Center. I jog and lift weights and I love the sauna. Quite relaxing! Once I retire, I intend to take advange of all the amminities available. Thanks for providing a great mobile community for Lake County residents!
Mar 29, 2019 · Kelly WrightI used to live at Sun lake and Loved it. The neighbors were wonderful. You have to realize what you put in it is what your going to get out of it. Be nice, you'll get treated nice. The only problem I had was I couldn't afford to live there anymore. My ground rent was going to be at 1,000. If I stayed. I had to move. Kicking and screaming...lol. but a Great place to live!
Apr 30, 2023 · Valerie FitzhughThis community has a SERIOUS PROBLEM. The water goes out on a regular basis, and every time the water goes out, we have to boil the water for 3 days before drinking it.As I write this, OUR WATER HAS GONE OUT 5 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH! (8 TIMES IN THE PAST 11 MONTHS!)Again, recently the water has gone out three times in one month and each time we have to boil the water for 3 days again. This is a very serious issue, and they don't seem to be doing anything to permanently fix the problem. Rather they just fix the broken pipe each time another one breaks. And obviously the pipes are breaking more and often! Ridiculous! They say when you shower be careful not to get it in your mouth because it could have animal feces in it! Wt_?!
May 19, 2024 · Nunaya BidnezWe love this 55+ community. Ryna is super friendly & was so informative as she showed us around. Residents are friendly & there are so many amenities to find something you will enjoy.
