When evaluating a 55+ mobile home park for potential long-term living, understanding the environment, the services offered, and the features of the community are key considerations. In the case of Mid Florida Lakes, we have access to some direct customer feedback which provides a mixed perspective on the living experience.
One reviewer enjoyed the "laid back retirement lifestyle" of Mid Florida Lakes Mobile Park. This suggests a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere geared towards retirees. The reviewer also noted the presence of wildlife, specifically mentioning a resident Sandhill Crane frequenting a homeowner's front yard, indicating a connection with nature within the community.
Another reviewer who toured several homes in the community had a more nuanced perspective. They observed a "mixture of old 1970s homes to current new homes scattered throughout," highlighting the diverse housing stock within the park. While they felt an "old trailer park feel," they also acknowledged that "The clubhouse was beautiful and the lake views were amazing." This suggests that while some areas might retain a more traditional mobile home park aesthetic, the community also boasts attractive communal facilities and scenic lake views, which are significant assets for residents.
However, this reviewer also raised concerns about the financial aspects, stating, "Was told HOA or land fees run around $800 a month. There are some much nicer upscale 55+ communities for same amount." This is a critical piece of information for prospective residents to consider, as it suggests that the monthly fees might be comparable to those of more upscale 55+ communities in the area. It underscores the importance of thoroughly understanding all associated costs and comparing them with other available options.
The same reviewer also mentioned a unique aspect of the environment, stating, "One of the homes we toured on a pond had a 2’ alligator in the back yard." This highlights the presence of local wildlife, which may be appealing to some but a concern for others. It's important for potential residents to be aware of the natural surroundings and any associated considerations.
On the positive side, the reviewer noted that Mid Florida Lakes "did have a lot of activities & amenities," which is a significant draw for active adults seeking a vibrant social life and opportunities for recreation. However, despite these positives, the reviewer concluded, "Just not the place we want to be," indicating that personal preferences and priorities play a crucial role in choosing a retirement community.
Based on the available customer reviews, Mid Florida Lakes offers a laid-back retirement lifestyle with potential for enjoying nature, as evidenced by the wildlife sightings and lake views. The community features a mix of older and newer homes and boasts a beautiful clubhouse and numerous activities and amenities. However, prospective residents should be aware of the potential "old trailer park feel" in some areas and carefully consider the monthly fees, which may be comparable to more upscale options. The presence of local wildlife, such as alligators in pond areas, is also a factor to keep in mind.

Jan 30, 2024 · Catherine MarshallMid Florida Lakes is situated in the heart of Florida's beautiful Lake County where sparkling, freshwater lakes dot the countryside. Centered between the metropolitan areas of Leesburg and Eustis, the community is also within five miles of area shopping, transportation, and hospitals. The lakes and canals within Mid Florida Lakes connect directly to Lake Eustis and the "Harris Chain of Lakes". These 12 Lakes offer great Bass Fishing and Bird Watching, along with direct access by boat, to over 40,000 acres of lakes and rivers, waterfront restaurants and entertainment. We absolutely love living here!
