Sunset Lake Campground & RV Park Introduce
Sunset Lake Campground & RV Park, situated at 33242 Sunset Beach Rd in Warrenton, Oregon, presents itself as an option for those searching for "RV parks near me" along the Oregon coast. The park's location offers proximity to Sunset Beach and a lakefront setting for some of its sites. However, recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on the overall experience, highlighting both potential benefits and significant drawbacks that prospective visitors should carefully consider.
One of the frequently mentioned positives of Sunset Lake Campground & RV Park is its location. Reviewers note the beautiful lake and the convenience of being a short walk or drive (10 minutes walking, 2 minutes driving) from a "stunning stretch of shallow sandy beach." The proximity to Sunset Beach appears to be a major draw, offering easy access to the Oregon coast for recreation and enjoyment. Additionally, the park is reportedly located just five minutes away from town, providing convenient access to amenities such as a Costco and other essential services. This accessibility to both natural attractions and urban conveniences could be appealing to a variety of travelers.
However, the environment within the campground itself receives considerable criticism in the provided reviews. One particularly negative review describes unsanitary conditions, including the smell of feces, finding feces in a rental unit's toilet, and allegations of moldy and outdated food in the store. This reviewer also raises serious concerns about the behavior of workers, including alleged drug use, and describes the landlord as "extremely rude and disrespectful." Furthermore, this review details issues with the condition of rental units, such as broken floors and walls, roach and ant infestations, and a lack of responsiveness to repair requests. While this review pertains to a rental house within the property, it casts a concerning light on the overall management and maintenance standards.
Another review, while acknowledging the kindness of the staff during booking and check-in, paints a less than ideal picture of the permanent resident areas within the park. This reviewer, who stayed in an RV site, describes the permanent resident sites as "not well maintained," "cramped," and featuring campers that are "falling apart and dilapidated." This reportedly gives the entire area a "sketchy vibe," leading the reviewer to feel uncomfortable allowing their children to explore the campground. This suggests a significant disparity in the quality and upkeep between the transient RV sites and the long-term resident areas.
Regarding services and features, the information is limited and somewhat contradictory based on the reviews. One positive aspect mentioned is the kind service received during the reservation process and check-in. The staff member on the phone is described as "very kind" and the check-in gentleman as also "very kind." This suggests that some staff members are focused on customer service. However, the negative review alleging a lack of action regarding moldy food in the store raises concerns about the overall management and attention to health and safety.
The second review provides some insight into the park's demographics, noting that it is "80% residents." This is an important piece of information for prospective short-term visitors, as it might influence the overall atmosphere and the types of interactions they have within the campground. The reviewer also mentions that the park might not have online reservations due to a lack of technical know-how, which could be a factor for some travelers. The condition of the campground showers is described as "bare bones concrete of an old public park bathroom," indicating a lack of modern or well-maintained facilities in this area.
One positive feature highlighted in the second review is that some RV sites are "right on the lake," offering beautiful views and easy access to the water. The reviewer's own site was described as "beautiful, easy to back into, and spacious." This suggests that the quality of the transient RV sites, particularly those with lakefront access, might be significantly better than the permanent resident areas. However, the reviewer still chose not to leave their immediate area due to the overall atmosphere of the campground.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information provided for Sunset Lake Campground & RV Park in the available text. To inquire about any potential discounts, special rates, or packages, it would be necessary to contact the park directly at (503) 861-1760 or +1 503-861-1760. Given the mixed reviews, it would be prudent to ask detailed questions about the specific site being booked, the condition of the facilities, and any recent improvements or management changes.
In conclusion, Sunset Lake Campground & RV Park offers a potentially attractive location near Sunset Beach and with some lakefront RV sites. However, prospective visitors should be aware of the significant concerns raised in recent customer reviews regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the property, the condition of the permanent resident areas, and allegations of poor management and unsanitary conditions. While some staff members are described as kind, the overall picture presented by the reviews is one of inconsistency and potential neglect. Individuals searching for "RV parks near me" in Warrenton, OR, should carefully weigh these factors and consider contacting the park directly for more information and potentially recent updates before making a reservation. It might also be beneficial to seek out more recent reviews from other sources to get a broader perspective on the current state of the campground.

Sunset Lake Campground & RV Park Reviews
When I walked into my house for the first time it smelt like feces, while I was trying to find the source of smell I found someone’s feces in the toilet marinating. The food in their store is out of date and way over priced. There was moldy food in their store and when I reported it they didn’t do anything about it. If my bathroom wasn’t fixed there was community bathrooms that I had to walk to in the middle of the night mind you. The workers were always on drugs and I WATCHED one of the employees sniff coke off of their finger?! The landlord, Sue is extremely rude and disrespectful. The floors and walls are all broken up and disgusting and again they would do nothing about it! I was treated horribly while trying to ask for them to fix something they would blame me for the problem saying that I caused it and they didn’t have to fix it. The landlord was also rude and disrespectful to her employees. ALSO the house is infested with roaches and ants. I couldn’t even sleep because I would have bugs crawling on me. The workers and landlord acts nice at first but then they are just rude as hell after a while. It was just a horrible experience and I do not recommend this place at all. Please go somewhere else. The only good thing about the location is the view everything else is horrible.
Apr 25, 2025 · Fag LordAfter staying here, I completely understand the mixed reviews. We booked last minute while on a family road trip up the Oregon coast with two kids (7,4) and a dog. While booking the reservation, the woman on the phone (Karen?) was very kind. She emphasized that the resort is family oriented, which after staying there, I think they really *want* to be. She was very up front that the park is 80% residents. The older gentleman who checked us in was also very kind. I understood, however, why the site doesn't take online reservations. They just don't know how to.When you arrive, you drive past these residents and that's where the atmosphere takes a dive. The permanent resident sites are not well maintained. They are cramped, the campers are not just old, but falling apart and dilapidated. It gives the entire area a "sketchy vibe" for lack of a better description. I did not feel comfortable letting my kids take a walk around the campground with the dog.Our site was right on the lake, beautiful, easy to back into, and spacious. Our neighbors appeared to be other families who also ended up there on a last minute booking. Our little area was perfect. But once again, we chose not to leave it. We even opted to rinse off in our camper instead of using the campground showers, which were the bare bones concrete of an old public park bathroom. But the location has real potential. The lake is beautiful. And you are a 10-minute walk/2-minute drive from a stunning stretch of shallow sandy beach. For us, it was worth it to stay there just for the proximity to Sunset Beach. You are also five minutes away from town, with a Costco and everything you could ever need.
Jul 16, 2024 · Stephanie StraderInteresting little campsite. Full hook ups. Very quiet. Sites backing onto the river are nice. Caretakers/owners very friendly and quick to help/answer any questions. Well stocked store with all the necessities and then some! Lots of long term residents who don't have pride in their site. Everyone was very nice though.
Sep 22, 2024 · Gary JohanssonRight when we pulled in we witnessed a very unsavory character literally dismantling a trailer by hand and throwing the pieces into a dumpster. The sites by the lake are ok. Although someone had burned a pile of something in our spot, not in the fire pit. Had to run over the burn pile with our trailer tires too get in the spot. Couldn't put our slide out due to the bushes being overgrown. The hosts were great, but the 60+ permanent residents left something to be desired. There were a few that were decent folks, but the majority were obvious drug addicts. Old dilapidated trailers with trash piled around them. It was really bad. We also heard rumors that they been caught dumping sewage into the lake, and that the cops are there at least twice a week. If you want to hang out with tweakers, go there, if you want a nice relaxing spot to camp with your family, don't go there.
Aug 18, 2024 · Casey TaylorVery friendly check in. Knew we wanted to fish and put us right by the water. Maintenance guy was awesome. Nice fishing dock. Good selection of basic needs in the store. A bit expensive but well worth not having to drive somewhere. Good selection of fishing gear for a small location. The night crawlers were very active. Also Tillamook icecream
