One long-term resident of over four years speaks highly of Tobacco Farm Camp, expressing gratitude for the welcoming atmosphere created by the owners, Shirley and Gary. This reviewer describes them as "wonderful, caring, and very helpful." The environment is characterized as "peaceful" with "the sounds of nature," further enhanced by the presence of chickens, which evokes nostalgic memories for some. Notably, the camp is pet-friendly, making it a suitable option for travelers with animals. The location strikes a balance between rural tranquility and accessibility, being "not too far from town where stores are and 85," yet removed enough to avoid "noisy traffic." The sense of community among the neighbors is also highlighted, with mentions of mutual support and a welcoming attitude towards newcomers, fostering a "small community" feel. For this reviewer, Tobacco Farm Camp has become a place to call home, emphasizing the heartfelt connection and positive experience over an extended period.
However, a more recent review from a guest who stayed for a single night in September 2021 offers a contrasting perspective. While acknowledging the numerous past 5-star reviews, this guest's experience was less positive. Their stay coincided with a challenging period when the owner was reportedly ill with Covid and quarantining. Consequently, the guest reported a lack of interaction with staff or the owner during their visit. The review suggests a potential decline in upkeep due to these circumstances, specifically mentioning that their cabin "did not look like some had cleaned it very well for sometime." Examples provided include finding an old plastic cup under the bed and wet washcloths left in the shower and on the bathroom sink. Despite this negative experience, the reviewer expressed hope for the owner's recovery and a return to the camp's previously perceived standards, noting that it "really does look like it was a nice place in the past."
Considering these two reviews, it's evident that Tobacco Farm Camp has fostered a strong sense of community and a peaceful environment for some, particularly those who have stayed long-term. The caring nature of the owners, the natural surroundings, and the pet-friendly policy are significant positives mentioned by a long-term resident. The presence of chickens adds a unique, rustic charm that some guests appreciate.
However, the more recent review highlights potential inconsistencies in service and cleanliness, possibly due to unforeseen circumstances like the owner's illness. This suggests that the quality of the experience might be variable and could be influenced by ongoing management and operational factors.

- Local attractions and accessibility: What are some nearby attractions, and how convenient is the camp's location to local amenities, stores, and major roadways like I-85?
The long-term resident's positive experience emphasizes the potential for a welcoming and community-oriented stay at Tobacco Farm Camp, set within a peaceful natural environment. The pet-friendly aspect and proximity to both nature and town amenities are also attractive features. However, the more recent review serves as a reminder to inquire about the current operational status and cleanliness standards to ensure a satisfactory experience.

Tobacco Farm Camp Reviews
We have been here for over 4 years and I am both thankful and grateful for being here. Shirley and Gary are wonderful, caring and very helpful owners. It's peaceful out here with the sounds of nature. There are chickens here which reminds me of when I was a kid and I adore it. It's pet friendly. Not too far from town where stores are and 85, but don't have noisy traffic to deal with. Neighbors here are friendly. They try to help each other and newcomers. It's like a small community here. It's a place I have been able to call home and they always say home is where the heart is. Thank you Shirley and Gary for everything!
Aug 31, 2023 · Kristie BroughWe stayed here for a night. I see many people in the past have given this a 5 star review. We didn't have the greatest experience. We saw no staff or the owner the time we were there. We did find out that the owner was sick with Covid and was quarantining herself. Looks like it may have been a really nice place in the past but due to circumstances went downhill. Our cabin did not look like some had cleaned it very well for sometime. We stayed in Sep 21 and while making sure we had everything I glanced under the bed and found a plastic cup from what looked like Christmas time. There were also wet wash clothes hanging in the shower and on the bathroom sink. I do hope Shirley made a recovery from being sick and thing start getting back to what they were. Really does look like it was a nice place in the past.
Sep 25, 2022 · Joseph MannReally nice, small campground in country/farm setting. Absolutely beautiful. Relaxing. The owners, Gary and Shirley, are amazing and super kind and helpful folks. Highly recommend. Neighbors super friendly and helpful, too. Stayed 8 months.
Feb 14, 2023 · R YWent camping here. DO NOT DO. They have Chickens which wake you up very early in the morning. A lot of the things on the website are far fetched. You can hear traffic and is not that secluded. There is a lot of area to play which would be good with kids like the website stated. The places for tenting are all sloped just a matter of how much it is. Also if you have a big RV there is not a lot of room and would not recommend coming here.
Sep 05, 2020 · Carl WaltonMy reservations for the only room available was in the barn. After a week of no response I called to find my room now had a permanent resident. Later that day she called to offer me a cabin that had come available. When I arrived, it also had been rented to someone. I was offered a camper. Desperate, I accepted. On arrival, 3 people were working frantically to get it ready. Hadnt been used in a long time. They informed me that the toilet doesn't work. No hot water, no propane for the stove. No tv or internet. The vent over my bed suddenly dumped gallons of water on me in the night during a storm. Then at 3am, a dozen or more roosters crowed till daylight outside my window. Camper had dog hair, dirty. A/C and fridge works tho. I was told to toilet and shower in a lawn mower type metal shed that contained a washer and dryer (laundry mat if you will) and to shower with the door open because the dryer makes it steamy hot in there. I had to park in a field that had tall grass. I ran over a steel fire pit ring that I didn't seen after dark. It damaged my tire and tore my front bumper off my Yukon Denali.😐
