Acadiana Park Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Lafayette, Louisiana area, Acadiana Park Campground, located at 1201 E Alexander St, Lafayette, LA 70501, USA, presents a convenient and reasonably priced option for your outdoor getaways. You can reach them at (337) 291-8388 or +1 337-291-8388 for inquiries and bookings.
Acadiana Park Campground offers a unique camping experience within a city park setting. According to customer reviews, one of its standout features is the abundance of shade, making it a comfortable place to stay, especially during the warmer months in Louisiana. The campground is also conveniently located right in town, offering easy access to local amenities and attractions while still providing a natural camping environment.
One reviewer described it as a "nice little city park" and highlighted the "friendly helpful camp host," suggesting a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. The price point was also noted as "reasonable" at $28 per night, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious campers looking for "camping near me."
Another camper who stayed in a 30' toy hauler shared a detailed account of their experience. They found the park "beautiful" with good water pressure and no unpleasant smells. The electricity was also reported to be reliable, with no surges detected. The specific site they occupied was "pretty level," which is always a plus for RV camping. This suggests that the campground caters to various types of camping setups, including RVs.
However, this reviewer also pointed out a few areas to be aware of. The road leading to the campsites has a "steep downward slope" and a "tight turn" that could pose a challenge for longer rigs. They also mentioned that this road "could use a little repaving/leveling." If you are traveling with a larger RV, it would be wise to consider this when selecting your site and navigating the campground.
For those using portable waste tanks, the location of the dump station is something to note. It is situated at the very entrance of the park, which could mean a considerable distance (around a 1/4 mile with hills and some rough patches of road, according to the review) if your campsite is further in. Planning your waste disposal accordingly would be beneficial.
The upper park area tends to get busy on weekends, which can sometimes lead to overflow parking in the dump station area. If you plan to use the dump station, especially on a weekend, it might be best to do so earlier in the day to avoid potential congestion.
Despite these minor logistical considerations, the natural beauty of Acadiana Park seems to be a major highlight. The reviewer raved about the "gorgeous" trails within the park, making it a wonderful place for nature walks and enjoying the outdoors. The campground is also pet-friendly, as the reviewer's dog apparently loved their stay. The spacing between campsites was described as "pretty good," and during a less busy period, campers were even more spread out, contributing to a sense of peace and quiet.
Safety is another aspect mentioned positively. The campground is gated, and the reviewer "felt very safe staying there." While acknowledging that some reviews mentioned a "bad neighborhood" nearby (about a mile away), this particular camper felt the immediate area of the park was secure. Nevertheless, they still recommended taking standard precautions like locking up outdoor items.
Noise levels might fluctuate. The reviewer noted that it could get "a little noisy on the weekend from the park above the campground," but this noise typically clears out at sunset. If you are seeking absolute tranquility during weekend evenings, this is something to keep in mind.
There were also mentions in other reviews about non-campers potentially using the bathrooms. The reviewing camper used their own facilities and couldn't comment on the condition of the bathhouse, but it seemed accessible to both campers and park patrons. If well-maintained public restrooms are a priority for you, you might want to inquire about their condition and accessibility.
Overall, Acadiana Park Campground appears to offer a convenient and affordable "camping near me" option for locals in Lafayette. Its pros include a shady environment, reasonable pricing, a friendly camp host, good water pressure and electricity, and beautiful trails. Potential cons to consider are the steep and somewhat uneven road access for larger RVs, the location of the dump station, potential weekend crowding in the upper park, and possible shared access to the bathhouse. The feeling of safety within the gated campground and the pet-friendly atmosphere are significant advantages for many campers.
For local users looking for a city-adjacent camping experience with natural beauty and essential amenities, Acadiana Park Campground is certainly worth considering. Its positive reviews regarding the park's aesthetics, the helpfulness of the staff, and the overall value suggest a pleasant stay. We encourage you to contact them directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about availability, specific site details, and any current regulations or recommendations for your visit. Acadiana Park Campground Reviews
Nice little city park, lots of shade, right in town. Reasonable price ($28/night), friendly helpful camp host.
Mar 26, 2025 · Brent StewardI stayed here about a month ago in a 30' toy hauler camper. It was a beautiful park and the water pressure was good, no funny smells. I have a filter but it's just a basic one on the hose. Electricity was good, no surges detected. The site I was in was pretty level, but the road getting to the sites has a steep downward slope, a tight turn to get to some spots for longer rigs and could use a little repaving/leveling. Also, the dump station is at the very entrance to the park so if you're using a portable tank for waste just keep in mind it's about a 1/4 mile with some hills and some rough patches of road. I also found that the upper park is very busy on the weekends, causing some people to use the dump station area as overflow parking - so plan your dump accordingly! The trails in the park were gorgeous! I really loved staying there with my dog, and I think that was one of his favorite stops so far! The spacing between sites was pretty good, and it wasn't busy when I was there so we were all spaced out. It was quiet and gated, I felt very safe staying there, though I would definitely still lock up any outdoor items, etc. Some reviews reported this being a bad neighborhood. There were some rough areas about a mile away, but this neighborhood seemed very safe to me. It was a little noisy on the weekend from the park above the campground, but that gets cleared out at sunset. I read some reviews about non-campers using the bathrooms. I used my own, so I'm not sure of the condition, but it seemed the bathhouse was accessible to both campers and park patrons.I have family in the Lafayette area and definitely plan to stay again!
Apr 18, 2023 · Lauren KeaneOlder park that could use a big update. Sites are ok, but only 4 or 5 big enough for something over 38'. We got lucky and had site 49, right on a blacktop pull through, only 2 like it in whole park. Looks like part of the roadway but it's a camp spot. We have a 34 HR Vacationer. Hookup of water and electric only, has a dump station up front. Easy to use on way out. Good stop for a night or two. Bit pricey but cheaper then most in area. Quite overnight sleep. Has a wonderful nature station and plenty of great walking trails. Nice to have after a day of travel.
Mar 27, 2021 · Robert n Michelle (Luna Express Travels)this is a great campground & 5 star location on the immediate edge of Lafayette Louisiana... The perfect launch point to explore this charming town. At only $28 (Jan 2023) this is a great deal as well. Don't expect nee upgrades or remodeled but nearly every site has electricity & water. it is a beautiful/peaceful spot next to a well to do middle-class residential area. Also, was nearly empty when we visited in Jan 2023, so it's a great last-minute stop to get away from rest stops and roadside camping, to recharge and rest up!
Jan 11, 2023 · Garrett SAcadiana Nature Park and Nature Station are in my top locations to visit in Louisiana, and this visit to the Campground is now the perfect spot to experience it all! There are power and water hookups but they lack sewage hookups at the campsites. The campsite is a bit run down, but perfectly usable and well worth the low 2021 price of $28/night and maximum 10 night stay without approval. Overall, this location is a hidden gem of Louisiana and this gets my top ratings!!!
