Aquarius Campground and Purple Beach Group Site

Beaver Creek Rd, Idaho 97530, USA

4.0
It's on the North Fork of the Clearwater River so of course beautiful. We went here July 2023. Campground is small and all spots were taken. Difficult to turn around in RV because dead ends. Water was not potable = maybe bad well? We ended up Camping in free Isabella loop to the west of Aquarius instead. The Isabella loop was dusty but close to the absolutely beautiful Isabella hiking trail. See my reviews their for more information - Brenda Boyer Knoll

Aquarius Campground and Purple Beach Group Site Introduce

For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience nestled in the scenic beauty of Idaho, Aquarius Campground and Purple Beach Group Site, located on Beaver Creek Rd, Idaho 97530, USA, offers a riverside camping option along the North Fork of the Clearwater River. Based on available user reviews, this campground provides a more rustic and primitive camping experience, which may appeal to those looking to get closer to nature.

One of the primary draws of Aquarius Campground is its location directly on the North Fork of the Clearwater River. As one reviewer noted, this setting is inherently beautiful. The presence of the river likely offers opportunities for activities such as fishing, wading, and enjoying the tranquil sounds of flowing water. The "nice river views" mentioned in another review further underscore the scenic appeal of this location.

However, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of the campground's limitations in terms of amenities. According to one review, Aquarius Campground has "minimum restrooms without water." This suggests that campers should be prepared for basic facilities and will need to bring their own water supply for drinking, cooking, and hygiene. Additionally, the same review explicitly states "no electric or other hookups," indicating that this is a primitive camping area not suited for RVs or those requiring electrical power at their campsite. The mention of a $10 per site, per night fee provides information on the cost of camping here.

One visitor who attempted to camp at Aquarius in July 2023 found the campground to be small and fully occupied. This suggests that the campground can be popular, especially during peak season. The same reviewer also noted that it was "difficult to turn around in RV because dead ends." This is a crucial piece of information for RV owners considering a stay at Aquarius Campground, indicating that it may not be well-suited for larger vehicles due to limited maneuverability.

Instead of staying at Aquarius, the aforementioned reviewer opted to camp in the free Isabella loop, located to the west of Aquarius. They described the Isabella loop as dusty but highlighted its proximity to the "absolutely beautiful Isabella hiking trail." This suggests that while Aquarius Campground itself has certain limitations, the surrounding area offers alternative camping options and recreational activities, such as hiking on the Isabella trail. Those considering Aquarius might also want to explore the Isabella loop as a potential alternative, especially if Aquarius is full or if they prefer a different type of camping experience.

The fact that the water at Aquarius was reported as "not potable" by one visitor ("maybe bad well?") is a significant consideration for anyone planning to camp there. This reinforces the need for campers to bring their own potable water. It's unclear from the review whether this was a temporary issue or a consistent state.

In summary, Aquarius Campground and Purple Beach Group Site offers a camping experience focused on its natural riverside location. However, it is characterized by minimal amenities, including basic restrooms without water and no utility hookups. It may not be ideal for RVs due to size constraints and turning difficulties. The campground can be busy during peak times. On the positive side, it provides access to the North Fork of the Clearwater River and is located near the Isabella hiking trail, offering opportunities for other outdoor activities.

The "Purple Beach Group Site" aspect mentioned in the campground's name was not elaborated upon in the provided reviews. This suggests that there may be a designated area for group camping, which could be a feature for larger parties looking to camp together. Interested users may want to inquire specifically about the Purple Beach Group Site when contacting the campground.

To gather more detailed information about the availability, specific features of the group site, and the current status of the water supply, you can contact Aquarius Campground and Purple Beach Group Site at (208) 476-4541 or their mobile number, +1 208-476-4541.

For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that prioritizes a beautiful natural setting along the Clearwater River and are comfortable with primitive camping conditions, Aquarius Campground could be an option. However, it's crucial to be prepared for the limited amenities and potential crowds, especially during popular times of the year. Exploring nearby alternatives like the Isabella loop might also be worthwhile.

In essence, Aquarius Campground and Purple Beach Group Site offers:

  • A beautiful location on the North Fork of the Clearwater River with nice river views.
  • Primitive camping with minimum restrooms (without water) and no electric or other hookups.
  • A low cost per site ($10 per night, as per one review).
  • Potential for crowding, especially during peak season.
  • Difficult maneuverability for RVs due to dead ends.
  • Proximity to the Isabella hiking trail (via the nearby Isabella loop).
  • A "Purple Beach Group Site," the details of which require further inquiry.
  • Non-potable water (based on one user's experience).

If you value a riverside setting and are prepared for a more rustic camping experience, Aquarius Campground might be the "camping near me" you're looking for. Just be sure to bring your own water and be aware of the limitations mentioned in the user reviews.
